Bato: Some relieved top cops got drug money
CEBU CITY, July 18, (MABUHAY) – Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa confirmed Monday that some of the police directors recently relieved from their posts were involved in the narcotics trade.
At a command conference in Cebu City, Dela Rosa said some of the relieved senior officials were receiving drug money.

Marines general tapped to head BuCor to take over post by Aug. 1
The Philippine Marines general appointed as the new Bureau of Corrections director will retire early from the military on July 30 and will bring several Marines to help guard the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City, according to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.Col. Edgard Arevalo, AFP public affairs chief, has announced that Marine Major Gen. Alexander Balutan will be given retirement honors by the Philippine Navy on July 30 before he assumes his post as BuCor director on Aug. 1.
“He (Balutan) said that this is a job that nobody wants to take, it’s only a Marine who’s willing to take this job, that’s why he took it,” Arevalo said in a press briefing.

Top US diplomat Kerry to visit PH, call on Duterte
US Department of State secretary John Kerry will visit the Philippines from July 26 to 27 as part of his Southeast Asian swing to call on Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and Foreign secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr. to discuss a wide range of cooperation with the new administration.
Expected in the discussions is the peaceful settlement of disputes in the South China Sea following the arbitration award that favored the Philippines’ sovereign rights over strategic waters in South China Sea and junked China’s nine-dash-line claim.
