The Kicks e-Power wheels are 100% driven by the electric motor. The internal combustion engine only charges the battery pack.
"However, in the e-POWER system, the gasoline engine is not connected to the wheels; it simply charges the battery. And unlike a full EV, the power source originates from the engine and not just the battery."

the gasoline engine is purely for generating electricity
the wheels are driven purely by electric motor
electric motor receives electricity from the battery (under the seat) and the generator
the generator charges the battery, also when you brakeLast edited by uls; August 6th, 2022 at 04:41 PM.

Not sure if the internal combustion engine really works harder. The engine switches on when needed and switches off when not needed.
"Nissan’s e-POWER system utilizes an on-board engine as a dedicated electricity generator for the system’s e-powertrain. Operation of the engine is limited to its most efficient range, appropriately managing the engine's electricity generation and the amount of electricity stored in the battery."

I did read something about the electric motor capable of receiving power from both the battery and (ICE-powered) power generator during hard acceleration, not sure if this applies to all e-Power models. The Nissan PH website highlights the ICE's function of generating power and charging the battery.

If the X-trail were to make a return with e-Power, it should be as AWD only.
