Did Nissan PH just tease the all-new Almera? | TopGear PH

Nissan PH drops teaser of all-new Almera | Autoindustriya

For starters, we now know that the 2022 Almera will use a new turbocharged engine. It will be similar to the Thai-spec model which uses a 1.0-liter turbocharged inline-three that produces 120 PS with 152 Nm of torque. It will then send power to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

when nissan announced a few months ago a fire sail for their outgoing almeras,
i rushed over, only to be told that their AT models had already been sold out.

galing.. dami na naka small displacement 3 cyl turbo engines.. hehe

may nabasa ako dati na sa japan, parang test bed nila yung mga kei cars... kaya madami mga kei cars na full spec'd like turbo engine at electric power steering since 80's pa

pero now, halos lahat ng new cars yan na ang trend..

Hope the base engine will be a NA four cylinder used on the previous almera.

For almost 5 years, I had the Fiesta Ecoboost. Despite its small 997cc 3-cylinders, turbocharging made it a potent powerplant for the Fiesta. The Asian tune is set to 125hp * 6k rpm and 170Nm * 1800 rpm with an overboost function pushing torque to 200Nm from 4500 rpm onwards.

The engine does rev higher at idle rpm compared to the usual 1.3L to 1.6L 4-cylinder engines (950 rpm vs 700 rpm). However, power and torque delivery is better than a 1.6L NA. There is noticeable turbo lag but once the engine revs at 2k rpm, the engine just goes alive and the tach just goes to 6k rpm easily.

Is that 200Nm of torque during overboost mode sustained until redline? If it is then the car is actually making something like 168hp in overboost mode

    200 Nm = 147.51 lb-ft
    147.51 lb-ft * 6000rpm / 5252 = 168.51 hp

With my experience driving the Fiesta Ecoboost, the overboost feature is only for a short period, a few seconds (maybe half a minute). It goes from 4500 to 5500 usually.

In Europe, the top tune for the 1.0L Fox engine is at 140hp/210Nm.

stick shift and standard automatic are one on my first and second choices when it comes to transmissions. CVTs comes at the end of the list.

When it comes to DCTs I am not fan of it.

    agree.

IMO (regardless of features). Nissan should price their car significantly cheaper than Toyota and Honda.

My sis-in-law and her BF used the 3rd Gen Almera as company cars (complete with PMS every 6 months) and if you drive the car compared to family/friend's similarly aged Vios and City, the Almera just feels older.
