I am not an owner of a Strada as of yet since I am still deciding on which automobile to buy. I am currently torn between a 1.8S Civic and a Strada GLX although I am 60% leaning more on one of them. Based on my username, I think you would've guessed which of the two by now.

I testdrove the 2.5 GLS at Citimors makati and the ride was great. It was quite fun and comfortable to drive.

Anyway, could I use this thread to post some questions? I would like to have good insights from you guys.

TIA and more power to the Strada Club!
Dude, I had the same predicament as yours...actually tatlo pa nga pinagpilian ko, civic, tucson, and strada...and so far, i'm glad i chose the right one...serious. If you want, I think you can drop by our mini-EBs to get a feel of the strada experience with the owners.

^^- *mazdamazda- hi there bro! i think i saw you before at the Manila Motorshow. the articles at bigbigcar are great! yes, the 2.5 GLS is cool- considering the host of features it has that only the Strada can provide! Honestly, any variant of the Strada is good because you have 5 variants to choose from so getting one that you like is next to saying that you did a personalized choice!!! Looking forward to meet you soon!

yes sir ianmitsulancer, it's really frustrating. i have talked to Mr. Medina awhile ago, and as usual re-evaluate na naman. sana nga e ineevaluate nila para hanapin ang pinagmumulan ng problema, at hindi ineevaluate para hanapan ng butas.

    Sir mike18,

Sir PM ko sayo yung contact person and the telephone no.. Sir ask ko lang yung squeeking sound . kahit walang laman yung bed nya? kasi before when my strada was not fix to the uneven height there were no squeeking sound on the bed even i jump in. after they replace the 2 coil spring and two leafspring meron na syang squeeking soung everytime i jump over the bed.. but while running even on the rough road wala naman syang squeeking sound. kasi i was very curious also regarding the squeeking sound so i tried to do some offroading sa Quezon province last week but i never heard anything. i'm not sure or hindi ko pa na test kung loaded yung bed ko kung may squeeking sound..

makikisali lang ako sa squeaking sound mga sir..... yung sa unit ko, the sound started a week after i got my unit(that was November 2006) and that was after i came back from one of my job sites which was at that time was submerged in around 2-3 ft of water. so i assumed that the leafgs just haad to be cleaned or something.

now, 18 months after my suspension still squeaks but only when i'm riding on flat or paved roads!!! hehehehe ridiculous!!! every time i go off-road to my sites the sound is nil or when my bed is loaded.

i still have to go to the casa to have the silencer installed, which actually has been waiting for me the past 2 weeks na. if the silencers don't work, okay lang naman sa akin, kasi with the kind of abuse that my ride has been taking i'd be more surprised kung hindi siya magingay!!! hehehehehe

but for you guys who just ride 80% paved roads, bring your rides to the casa and have them check it out. may warranty naman yung mga sasakyan kaya wala kayo dapat problemahin.

thanks sir. yung squeeking even walang laman yung bed meron. twice na nila pinalitan yung leafspring ko, yung first time na pinalitan nila even smooth and paved road lalo lumakas ang squeek nya, pero yung 2nd time, left na lang ang may squeek when i jump in and when i'm driving.

Thank you guys for welcoming me here in your thread. I really like your club already even if I am not yet a member.

    *ooba99,
Yes, I have been a lurker for a while and have learned a great deal from most of your discussions here in your thread.

    *the patriarch,
I am so sure that a lot of people are going through the same predicaments. I hope that you guys can give assistance to someone new like myself.

    *mike18,
Thanks for recommending your agent. I will be calling him soon!

    *kenpogi,
Can I really join your EB's even if I dont even own a Strada? I drive a '96 Civic and I've always been a Honda enthusiast. hehe

    *JJCarEnthusiast,
No offense taken but reality dictates that a potential car buyer does not always really choose from automobiles from the same category. More often than not, car buyers from a third world country like ours would choose from the available automobiles that would fit his/her own budget.

Anyway, I think I will be test driving the Civic within next week. The 1.8S Civic and the Strada GLX really fits my budget of under 900k. I love the Strada for its powerful and economical CRDi Diesel engine, its looks, toughness, and high ground clearance for flood infested places. I love the Civic for its powerful and economical iVTEC 1.8 engine, looks, and ride quality.

But, I might choose the Strada because of camaraderie among the Strada Club members.

Btw, which dealer would you recommend for great Sales and Service? I live around the Pioneer Street Mandaluyong Area but we also have a house in lower Antipolo.

    Thanks BOSB's!

Been a while since my last post. Ngayon lang kasi naging normal ang Internet connection ko after last weekend's typhoon.

My wife and I including our two kids went to Sagada last weekend to attend a wedding. We started from Baguio around 5 in the morning of Saturday and while driving along Halsema road we're experiencing stormy winds and rain. Turned on my radio and learned that Benguet and the whole of Mountain Province is under storm signal #2 and that the center of the typhoon is at Zambales. We decided to proceed on our way after receiving a report from another group who went to Sagada a day earlier that no bad weather is being experienced so far.

We reached Sagada after 5 hours of driving. It was rainy but no signs yet of the storm so after attending the wedding we went sightseeing and proceeded to the Sumaging Cave with 3 local guys to guide us. We were tired and wet after spending more than 2 hours exploring the cave. After coming out of the cave we hiked to a nearby area to see some coffins at close range. We then checked-in at a small hotel for the night.

During the night the winds became stronger and the rains heavier. Sunday morning was really stormy so we had to cancel our planned trip of seeing the hanging coffins at another place. We decided go back home after making sure that Halsema Road hasn’t been closed due to land slides. There were land slides along the way but still passable. A portion of the road was almost blocked by a large fallen rock that a bus had to stop as it cannot pass through the narrow opening. Thankfully, my Strada was able to squeeze through and while driving I was always on the look-out for the possibility of rocks falling toward us. Another landslide covered a portion of the road with thick mud and a line of vehicles were stopped on both side. A van tried to pass through but got stuck with its wheels spinning. A group of people pushed the van back to the concrete road. I went past the line of waiting cars, shifted to 4WD and drove through the slippery mud. We got to the other side with lots of stares from the waiting drivers . Going to Sagada did not require me to use 4WD. This was the only time that I used 4WD and it was such a relief that my Strada is equipped with this feature otherwise I would have been one of the vehicles lined up there waiting for a bulldozer to clear the road of mud. It took 7 hours to complete the trip back home.

Some pics from our Sagada trip:

That's one thing I like with our rides...neither floods or landslides can spoil the fun of driving the Strada.

Thats one great thing about the club is the camaraderie. Doesnt matter if matagal ka na member or not, we welcome all the same way. Our new members can vouch for that.

I do agree with you, when buying cars, sometimes its not the same classification, but once you have that category, then you will look further. For example, before buying my strada, i also looked at the civic, carens, and strada..once strada na..i checked its competitors like hi-lux. ayaw ko na isuzu kasi so no dmax. i'd rather get a pickup then drive a civic. I used to also own a civic before.

we welcome newbies to join one of our mini-eb to talk to owners and get to know this great truck.

btw, lapit lang ako sa pioneer st. three members of the club reside in mandaluyong, just look out for strada w/our club sticker sa rear window.

I got mine sa Diamond Motors Marcos Hiway. Satisfied naman ako sa service nila and asikaso ang club members dun. You can ask for my SA there, here name is Ria Dimaano(?), di ko sure yung last name.

Feel free to drop by sa mga mini-EBs ng club. you can inspect the vehicles and the modifications done by the club members para may idea ka na once you decided to finally purchase a strada for yourself

Thanks, sir DonT. This is my first time to own black and I am glad I decided on getting this color. The Strada is indeed fun to drive and my kids love staying on the bed, feeling the fresh air as we drive and actualy preferred riding on the Strada over the Sorento because of the bed. That is why I needed a roll bar for my kids to hold unto. I was in Manila last Wednesday hoping that I can have a rollbar installed at Carryboy but unfortunately there was no stock for the Strada, even the utility box. Most of the accessories that were available are for the Navara and the Hilux. I was told that stocks for the Strada will be available by June.

Hopefully I can join the 4x4 clinic this time. Several 4x4 clinics have already been held in the past and I never had the time to join the 4x4ph guys as I've been out of the country most of the time. It was actually the guys at 4x4ph.com that taught me the basic knowledge of 4x4 driving.

in short, for 265/70 tires, what should be the rim width for best results? will 7" rim width be fine?

    thanks
