Im confused.. Early GLS models have turbo timers built in right? Sir moxxxs, wala ba yung sayo? AFAIK, late GLS / GLS Sport models lang ang hindi na nilalagyan ng TT kasi madami daw nagkakaproblema dahil hindi sanay mga owners but you can opt to have them installed if you want for free. tama ba?
Or are you guys talking about the actual display that counts down na pwede ilagay along with the turbo timer? hehe naguguluhan lang ako.

If you want thicker tires, go for the 265s (allowed in the manual). The 275s or 285s would be noticeably heavier, therefore decreasing performance. Pero kung "puro-pomahans", maganda siya.

Get the Bridgestones A/T Revo 265/70R16 (just like mine hehe...). It's got good reviews and are quiet too. It will fit on 16x7 to 16x9 wheels.

There are other good all-terrain brands as well.

BTW, one big reason why I bought a pick-up is because of dogs, and sometimes I train them in areas with rough terrain where a 4x4 would be useful.
    Hi Drave!

Nah, mine is the most "relaxing" truck, walang ginagawa halos, very much underutilized. My truck is in Bohol while I work in Manila. I only get to go home cguro mga twice a week lang on the average and dun ko lang siya nagagamit.

Well, I might go for the 275, maybe a good compromise between what's allowed in the manual and 'pomahans'... Di naman ako nag-ooffroad in the strictest sense of the word and since my ride is underutilized, my truck's wear and tear due extra tire weight should just be fine. I still have to ask mitsu, though, on how all these changes will affect warranty.

Yep, my dogs own the truck bed. They are just companion dogs for hiking, jogging, and other outdoor activities. Lots of plans about dogs, but they'll remain as they are for another year maybe. BTW, are you and Drave in DTO one and the same?

    Hi Moxxxs!

I really haven't notice yet when the turbo system kicks in, though I would normally be aware of the change in engine sound when I crank the engine up to around 2-3k rpm. I thought that maybe this is just due to the engine revving up and shifting to a lower gear (mine is AT, 2.5 kasi wla pang 3.2 nun). Eto na pala yung turbo. The pull is really there.

With the turbo timer, is it not a little scary to leave the engine running when we leave and expect the timer to shut it off after some time? I just can't imagine how I would react if the engine is still running when I get back after hours of being away...holy$#*t!

    2. strada- 2.5L M/T; everest- 3.0L A/T

But, to answer your question, there's a big advantage of the everest VGT turbo. There's no turbo lag unlike in the strada wherein you have to wait for the rpm to reach 2k before you'd feel the turbo kick in. In street driving, it's a hassle during overtaking at slower speeds.

I like them both, but if I have to choose which one I would drive on the streets based on power, honestly, I'd say the everest due to the VGT.
Same here.. iba pa rin talaga pag naka VGT. Because of the Dmax's short gear ratios ata diba?

BTW, bout the everest and my nissan eagle
Im not telling that my nissan is fast nor everest is slow
but i dont think he can outrun the strada....
Sorry po. but its the way i feel
    No problem nismo76

Fedor was just asking about the difference in power between my rides which I specifically mentioned. My eve is 3.0A/T and my strada is 2.5M/T. If I wanted to talk about topspeed, I've driven both to 180kph and both could still pull some more but I wasn't dumb enough to dare going beyond my "S" rated tires (max allowable speed of 180kph only, that's why I'm laughing at santa fe owners with stock S rated tires who drive beyond 180kph). So, at topspeed, it would be about even. The debate would be on how fast the vehicle can reach 180kph from a standing start and a moving start.

My feeling is my everest would be faster from a moving start while my strada would be faster from a standing start, but this is only subjective (even a manual timer would be inaccurate). If I had the 3.2 strada, like yours, then it would be a different story. Or if the 3.0 everest had the M/T. It's quite difficult to compare, actually.

To really determine the fastest, wouldn't it be nice to see a race among the current pick-ups, 3.0 dmax, 3.0 hi-lux, 3.2 strada, 3.0 ranger, and 2.5 navarra? But, wouldn't it also be stupid at the same time? (they ain't racecars but some owners think they are)

Fedor, BTW, in hill climbs, my everest is definitely faster (talisay to tagaytay, A/T lever at D2 when incline is steep).

Sir louchua, bought mine April last year.

Yup, we are talking about the turbo timer built in with the car security system. Buti pa yung mga naunang GLS models meron.

Hassle pa kasi yung pupunta ka sa casa/winterpine to have the turbo timer chip added in the car alarm. Pero at least no added cost.

Nice set of rims you got there bro!

55 series will still fit your nice rims bro. There will just be an additional 1 inch in the height of the tires. Actually, your present set-up is great. But if your having problems with the riding comfort due to thin tires, then by all means change your tires.

I see I see.. so Sir Moxxxs wala yung sayo? Coz I got mine Late May of last year (a month after yours) and it came standard with turbo timer.. And I knew na nauna kayo nagkaroon kaysa sakin kaya medyo naguluhan ako. So matagal na pala tinanggal ng Mitsu as standard ang turbo timer sa Strada? Hmm.. baka old stock yung sa akin . Pero more than 1 month ako nagantay before I got mine wala kasing stock ng White A/T at that time.

I guess it's due more to the 07 dmax wide power band (max torque coming at 1400 to 3400rpm) Pero yung lumang dmax, mas mabilis ang 2.5 strada, stock to stock.

thanks... yeah, comfort got down a bit... that's why i'm looking to swap them with 55's.... any idea on what's the optimum PSI for my current tires??? im at 31 psi.... is that good enough?

has anyone had a problem with their engines yet??? at around 3,500+ kilometers the engine on my strada lost power... i'm not talking about it slowing down, i really mean no revolution whatsoever.... it went away for awhile but resurfaced at around 3,700kms..... decided to have it looked at.
thank God service was quick. i got it in at around 8.30am and it was out by 4.30pm.... they said the VALVE KIT was defective... what??? in a brand new vehicle??? anyway they had it replaced and all is fine now... actually feel the engine is stronger and faster, which got me thinking that the VALVE KIT was defective from the moment i got it out. Because before i had it checked, the engine made funny sounds, like it wasn't getting enough fuel or something, at high engine speeds which i discarded to be normal. that's gone...

    anyone else experienced this????

mine is actually a GLX, but i think it looks better than most GLS's running around here in CEBU... if you wanna check it out here's a picture...

the max psi of a tire is usually indicated or marked on the sides of tires. check what is the max psi for your tire then deduct 10%. for example: your tires have a maximum of 45psi, less 4.5 psi = 40.5psi you can start from there. observe your ride and increase or decrease from that value if necessary.
