Approaching 15k PMS now, (Monty is 7 months old), and I am really more of a DIY person. Sabihin man ng iba I am being "kuripot", pero I am now leaning towards opting out from Casa, and have it serviced by MitsuPrime in Las Pinas and get the opportunity to watch over how they do things and eventually be able to master the craft myself.

Given that I havent had any mechanical, electrical issues since I got my MS inspite of heavy use during long drives, my big question is --- What are the usual/common warranty claims you already had? Weighing in risks for future warranty claims versus just buying/paying those parts myself outside.

May nakasabay ako sa Casa, engine for montero & AT for Mirage. Yung kapitbahay namin yung turbo/egr 2yrs pa lang (slightly use).

thanks sir noel. ano kaya details nung engine warranty claim for the montero?
regarding sa turbo naman, i will research further on what are the common cause of failures.. appreciate na rin if you can share here further details kung ano nangyari sa turbo nung neighbor niyo.. right now, i already have an OCC as an initial care for the turbo, plus ensuring i will stay within factory settings not to play with it. (i.e wastegate actuator settings, etc.)

Sir ash, nothing wrong with your choice not to have service sa casa. At least you know your car is properly maintained because you are on top of things concerning it. Also since you are a forumer, you are informed about the do's and don'ts sa montero.

May mga minor issues na pwedeng kahit maingat ka e affected like the fuel filler and tank rust.

*ek2jayvee - i really appreciate your insights sir. this made me more confident sa plan ko on self-maintenance or at least non-casa maintenance. and yes, i really want to be on top of things concerning my car. also, i will try to my best to stay updated dito sa forums para lalong ma-inform ako sa mga maintenance tips, tricks, do's and donts.

    thank you sir jj.

just talked to my SA sa diamond valle verde, no problem in bringing my own oil basta right viscosity daw pero yung oil filter ang medyo nag-alangan sya. didn't argue na for the sake of warranty hehe palit na lang every 5k.

^15w40 mineral (cheap, prone to gumming or gelling, recommended for 5thou km oil change interval)
10w40 semi-synthetic (moderately expensive, resistant to gumming allows extension of oil change to 7thou km to 8thou km)
5w40 full-synthetic (expensive, more resistant to gumming allows extension of oil change to 10thou km)

w stands for WINTER which is not applicable to the type of weather there is in a tropical climate

Hindi ba mas prone naman sa sooth at sludge pag FS ang gamit sa Diesel engine?

Nope, nasa engine design ang problem nang soot at sludge with how oil is made right now.

yung oil na lumulusot sa piston chamber ay sumasama sa blow by gases, that's the reason why you need to have an OCC para masalo at di magbuild-up ang sludge sa intercooler mo. intake manifold build up of sludge naman is caused mainly by the EGR.

Isarado na lang natin egr, then mineral o semi-synthetic na lang ang engine oil? O sapat na OCC?

sir noel, marami naman nagsarado na ng EGR nila. it's a matter of choice between your contribution to the environment or added performance and longevity of your ride. FS pa rin ako na oil. maaring di sapat ang occ, as i mentioned earlier you're just preventing oil going with your blow by gases to your intercooler

Pag may DPF dapat API CJ-4 ang oil. Pero wala naman DPF all variants of Montero. CI-4 pwede na.
