October 24th, 2010 01:31 AM #381Just had a 2nd opinion at Central Diesel. Iba naman ang diagnosis:
1. They removed the air filter then tried to floor the pedal. Medyo mausok but not as bad as before. They are now asking me to replace first air filter with OEM (Do I really need to buy OEM?)
2. If not resolved by this, they will calibrate nozzle
3. Turbo is not a problem daw in my case. Kasi hoses are expanding on revolutions. Meaning daw may malakas na hangin from the turbo.
4. Oil at turbo hoses is normal daw. Ang masama daw is yung "sumusuka na ng oil"
5. Prices are really much cheaper compared to BETAN
- 7K for calibration/replacement of nozzle
- 13K for repair of turbo
My observation:
BETAN wants me to go repair turbo immediately and go Nozzle calibration. Compared to Central Diesel isolating turbo is ok, oil around hoses is normal, then change filter and clean exhaust pipe first. I'll do this early tom.
My question is, need ba talaga na ORIGINAL air filter? or replacements will do? And how long dapat bago palitan ang air filter? Kung madalas, it seems ok na yung replacement para affordable din.
Your comments will be greatly appreciated again.
Thanks
thanks paps....will try this....

Why don't you go sir with K&N? It's better than the OEM filter and lasts longer.

October 24th, 2010 10:46 AM #384I wasnt able to ask the duration. BUt most shops na napagtanungan ko, 3-4 hours lang daw naman ito as long as naka-schedule. included sa 7K ang nozzle replacement, zexel brand....
How long ba need to change the filter? kung madalas kasi like every 3 months, I am thinking of replacement lang sana. Aside from K&N, need ba talaga na OEM pa? or replacement filter will do the job din?

I think air filters should be replaced every 20K. I'm not sure about the difference between OEM and replacement filters because we've been using K&N for years now.

Good you went in for a second opinion. The turbo of the 4m40 rarely conks out. And if it does usually sa high mileage rigs. I use K&N air filters for all my rigs. It's value for money in the long run. All I do is re-charge it everytime I change oil. I feel the engine breathes more freely as well with the K&N.

thanks bro...sabe nga din sken sa central diesel for them wala prob ang turbo..kya iingatan ko na din..maglalagay nako turbo timer..hehe..puro tantyahan lage eh...mabuti na yung sigurado....
I tried using replacement filter muna just for isolation...pero after nito, mag K&N filter na din ako....
Any pics ng mga naka K&N filter? Just want to see how the tube looks like sa space allocated sa engine bay...
thanks
pwede yan, not sure if may replacement fee or libre na.
