Mitsubishi Montero Sudden Acceleration Accidents [MERGED]

From the full vid it looks like 2nd driver doesn't know how to use an a/t and/or isn't used to a powerful engine. I've seen accidents like this before. Not as dramatic but it's always a guy used to driving a really slow m/t car driving a powerful a/t car for the 1st time. They always grossly underestimate gas pedal response. 2 of those times it happened in a garage.

This particular incident is bad news for real SUA victims if ever there are any. Future claims will appear dubious.

i think hindi nga marunong sa A/T. possibly sanay sa M/T where if you depress the clutch, you can "pump" the accelerator. then baka nagulat sa A/T when he stepped on the accelerator, ayun, SUA na.

I am also on the side saying it is due to driver error. But I was wondering about that move too. Why would they buy back the units? If they really are confident that it is not a factory defect, why would they resort to that?

And yes, I agree that the driver in the full video does not look like the guy in the ABS-CBN report at all.

Im sure yung ECU have capabilities to log all the data from the sensors of the car from this data the engineers could analyze the cause of failure or accident. Baka may nakita yung mga engineers sa data logs ng ECU na di tama, just an opinion.

I agree that the engineers should review data from the ECU, but do they have to resort to buying back? They can just request to have certain units recalled for such a study.

This SUA problem has gone very public now.

Two days ago I got a message from my childhood bestfriend telling me I was very fortunate I did not get a Montero last year because Monteros are problematic. My childhood bestfriend is the type who couldn't even tell the difference between at Vios J or G. Today when I got home my Mom told me the same thing, buti I did not get a Montero and then she told me about the SUA problem she saw on TV

I think this can begin to affect the sale of the Montero for people like my best friend or my Mom who know absolutely nothing about cars. Sus, dapat ba pala ako matuwa na hindi Montero auto ko, e sakit din naman ng ulo yung kotse na nabili ko

I don't watch local news anymore pero bakit biglang naging public ang issue? Ilang taon na napaguusapan dito sa board yan pero ngayon ang laki laking issue na.
