Sabi naman ni mitsu guy correct. Di nya dinefend na wala namang pick up based suv kaya wala ring fortuner. At sinabi lang na iba ang market sa US. Di rin nya inexplain ano ba ang market ng US. This is why everyone does pre-emptive recalls nowadays. Better to be safe than to pay a crapload in fines and to suffer negative publicity.

The biggest danger to Mitsubishi is, IF it is proven that there ARE mechanical defects that directly cause SUA, they will be forced to pay a bigger fine. It would be in their best interests to disclose everything now than to give the DTI the fuzzy impression that they are covering everything up.

I thought the line: "There are no defects" was a mistake. They should say: "These are the known defects, and no, they don't include accelerator failure", and give the DTI all the info they need to make a fair, informed decision.

If indeed true, replacement of the CMOS battery should be done at least every year or x months, regardless of the mileage. Or, a warning light should tell the owner to have his car serviced, to prevent the "perfect storm"....

Wala raw bang fail-safe in case low batt ang ECU? Dapat it should halt or switch-off the vehicle if not enough power supply to the ECU. If it occurs while the vehicle is running, it should decelerate then stop. Then, the vehicle can be moved mechanically.
