if you don't mind, question lang: madalas ba magbaha near the gas station where you fill up? isa sa mga dahilan ng rust sa gas tank is if may tubig ang fuel na ikinakarga sa sasakyan mo AND matagal na hindi nagamit ang sasakyan. magsesettle kasi ang fuel and water (decantation) and the tank is exposed to the water level which could lead to rusting.
this made me think: bakal pala ang tank ng montero (i have yet to check mine). ang fortuner kasi plastic-type ang tank. if you ask me, mas gusto ko ang bakal na tank. kapag kelangan linisin ang tank or kelangan palitan ang fuel pump, kapag plastic-type ang tank, nasisira ang tank when you remove the fuel pump.
sir my monty is used on a daily basis so it would seem odd that ganun kabilis ung rust nya, it is possible for the fuel filter to get dirty and i agree with that but that fast? that really made me think if the tanks that they used were from previous made montys... that i dont know, just hope it gets fixed... have no problem with my unit until this but performance wise it is really fast! Thinking of gettingthat RaceChip any info or feedback? TIA
thanks for the update sir... will try to check it out again... actually no prob naman kung ayaw magwork nung cable na pang-apple mismo... saken lang is sayang naman kung hindi siya gagana using that wire thinking na nilagay nila yun para dun... i can use stereo jack or bluetooth connectivity just in case na nga lang tapos yung cig lighter socket for charging or power supply ng ipod as ive used with our other vehicle... btw, rv meter is still good...![]()
Question guys, what options puede undertake for a GTV na mausok. We called up our dealer and we were informed that it needs to undergo a reprogramming. Wala na ba ibang option puede aside from the reprogramming? Thanks
Yes sir just use euro 5 diesel. Seaoil offers euro 5, unioil euro 4. We have some friends here that underwent reprogramming and said they experienced lesser engine power. It makes sense as they will adjust your euro 4 engine to euro 2.Originally Posted by AKI125

Nearing my 1K PMS and I was already dead set on using Royal Purple oil for my MS after reading so many good reviews in tsikot.com, but when I visited the RP website their recommendation is to use their oil after 8-10K miles! Posted a query at the Royal Purple thread and speedyfix did replied that :
"this is because diesel engines take a long time to break in. and using synthetic oil will cause it to take even longer. the best time to use synthetic oil is when the engine is fully broken in na. " ..... " you want the breakin to be done as fast as possible so that the engine becomes efficient sooner. mineral oil with quick successions of oil changes is the best thing when a diesel engine is new"
So my questions ( I was not able to read it in the previous pages or I may have missed it) are:
1. Whether the oil in our MS is synthetic or mineral when we brought it out of the dealership? (if its synthetic then I will just have to push with a synthetic)
2. If the perceived "break in" period of the RP website for diesel engine is 8-10K miles presumably using mineral oil, does this hold true for the 4d56 or was the engine broken in prior to delivery to the dealership?
3. Any recommended brands of mineral oil for our MS?
Many Thanks!
I had my GTV reprogrammed a few months ago and switched to seaoil bioxceed diesel. The casa technician explained to me that the reprogramming has nothing to do with the euro rating. It has something to do with the exhaust valve opening settings when the aircon is turned on. There is no effect on engine performance or power. It really solves the smoke issue, I highly recommend it. It was sir pogy uy that mentioned that his unit experienced power loss after reprogramming but it turned out that his unit had some other issues which caused the power loss. If I remember it correctly, I think his monty had an EGR or SCV problem.
My SA in casa (close friend) suggested that we continue with the mineral
Oil until 5000kms. Then we put fully synthetic on my 5000kms. pms.
Wanted to change sana to other brand, kaso ang hirap naman maghanap nung 15w50 fully syn na gamit ng mitsu, karamihan sa market is 5w40, ayaw ko naman magkaiba ng weight na ipapalit. Ayaw ko na din muna magflushing so continue lang ako sa fully syn nila nung nag 15000kms check up ako.
so mas ok ba na mineral oil muna gamitin ko sa 1k pms ko malapit nadin kasi ko 1k, pardon my ignorance anu ba pinag kaiba ng mineral sa synthetic at bakit mas ok ito pag 1k pms
In layman's terms, from what I know mas madulas and mas stable ang synthetic compared sa mineral based, so mas maganda sa engine but there is a caveat to that, new engines, specially diesel engines needs a break in period so that "compression rings will have mated with the cylinder wall" (TheDieselStop.Com - www.thedieselstop.com) which synthetic oils can prolong dahil masyado nga sya madulas. Parang yung saying na "kahit anung sobra masama". Kaso nga lng:
1. It seems mitsu casa all recommends a synthetic on your first PMS and I have read in previous posts, d ko lng alam kng dito o sa PMS thread, that na break in na o na hard break in na yng mga MS prior to delivery sa dealership ( I don't know kng totoo)
2. There are car manufacturers that put synthetics on their cars right away, (Myths About Synthetic Motor Oils) although I don't know if these are all gasoline engines or may diesel, at least ang Royal Purple tells you na if it is diesel put syn after 8-10K miles
3. and lastly yng pananakot sa yo na if you will not put synthetics, void warranty mo, kaso sa manual nung MS bastat 15W-40 lng cnabi wala namang synthetic na nakalagay
So nalilito ako kng syn o mineral sa first PMS ko, pero now I am inclined on using a mineral based oil den every 5K km oil change tapos RP pag palo ng 10K km
Read this one bro, Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power
For added info lang naman. But 5,000kms is a safe bet before using fully synthetic.
