It really solves the smoke issue, I highly recommend it. It was sir pogy uy that mentioned that his unit experienced power loss after reprogramming but it turned out that his unit had some other issues which caused the power loss. If I remember it correctly, I think his monty had an EGR or SCV problem.
Ah thanks spotdog, that's how I remember it. Mali yung assumption ko associating reprogramming to powerloss. So gtvguy, listen to them and don't mind me. Hahaha

sir parang mas mainam kung sa mismong service dept ng dealer mo i-confirm yung ganyan kase sila nakakaalam ng engine mismo nila eh... or kung may personal or kakilala kang mechanic whom you trust, sa kanya mo tanong... parang mahirap magbase sa iba't ibang sinasabi sa mga link eh kase nagvavary ang conditions sa tingin ko... para may peace of mind ka din...

For added info lang naman. But 5,000kms is a safe bet before using fully synthetic.
I am not against this thread, malamang mas maraming alam yng author ng "Break in Secrets..." sakin but I would like to warn Ry_Tower that the break in procedure being describe is for "Motorcycle and Car Engines" which are probably gasoline fed and high revving engines.

Diesel engines I think are a little bit different when it comes to its break in process. I'll try to post yung mga website na nabasa ko but from what I remember things you must avoid are: lugging the engine ( pakicorrect lng po but I think eto yung masyadong mababa RPM for a given speed parang 40kph ka naka 4th gear k n, tipid sa diesel pero bad for a new engine), excessive loads (humihila ng trailer o inaakyat ng matagal sa matatarik na daan), pedal to the metal o pinaparedline yng RPM and staying at a constant speed and RPM ( dapat varying speed and RPM, one site recommend that you stay in the 1800-2200 RPM with occasional 2500-3000). The explanation I remember for these precautions ay pag apak mo sa accelerator may mageexpand at pagbitiw mo din may vacuum (I forgot what the vacuum is for) but these I think are essential para d mag glazing yng engine mo. Another thing is matagal daw talaga break in period ng Diesel engines (approx 10K miles) compared to gasoline engines.

I hope kng may mali o masakit sa tenga akong nasulat paki mention n lng po para lahat tayo ay mainform, again I'll try to post my sources tagal ko na panu nabasa or igoogle nyo na lng po "Diesel engine Break in". The only thing I was not able to resolve is what oil to really use pero like what I've said before I am going for the mineral first 10K km and then synthetic after that.

I currently also use the paddle shifter/manual shifter nung MS para sa break in, pag naka DRIVE panu the RPM's are too low, it rarely go above 1800 RPM nagshishift na agad sya lalo na sa low gears.

sa break-in iba't iba ang payo nila but based on my experience sa diesel engine, mas matagal nga i-break in ito.
meron kaming isang vehicle dito, ibinabad sa 80km ang break-in, ayon hirap bumatak.
but yun mga vehicle dito na ang break-in ay naglalaro sa 80km to 100km ayos lahat tumabok.

i got the monty last april, i got no problem with the break-in. sinunod ko lang ang 80km to 100km mula ng binili. after the 5,000km pms hinataw ko na.

ika nga nila sa NBA: read to lead

The difference between synthetic and mineral motor oil

without being offensive to anyone, my disposition with advice from mechanics is to take it with a huge grain of salt. they're mechanics, not engineers. its almost like getting drug advice from the salesperson in a drugstore compared to a physician. anyway, to my mind, synthetic oils are able to handle engine heat and stress better (less prone to oil break down) compared to mineral oils. in our high-compression turbocharged engines coupled with metro manila's harsh driving environments (stop-go traffic jams), i'd still stick with fully synthetic oils every 5,000-km's.

how come no one is quoting the owner's manual regarding the break-in period of a brand new monty?

shouldn't we be following this instead?

Thanks guys for the replies. Will try the seaoil diesel for now and hope the smoke issue will be a thing of the past. Still a long way to go for the next PMS. At the present the GTV only got 7k and 3k more for the next PMS, roughly 2 more months.

it takes about 2-3 top ups to completely clean the system of the previous fuel and get the full benefit of bioxceed
