+1, dapat nga para mas magiging urgent ang dating sa kanila.

Dapat 7 ltrs lang, maybeyou can insist. Masama sobrang oil sa engine. Ideal nga is between the top and lower mark, gitna ba. para magaan din sa makina.

i have already complain on my white smoke. not just me but my fellow gls-v owner here in our province. But my white smoke is not that obvious compared to the one in the Flicker video.

Awaiting feedback from the plant. mmm... almost 1month na wala parin feedback!

anyone experiencing MID glitches? Winterpine!!! ang layo mo . I have done na my 1000km PMS but never encountered that FLASH SCREEN REMINDER.

Hey guys,

I think I got the technical explanation and a very simple solution to your white smoke problem at idle.

The head of the piston has a cavity. That cavity is shaped carefully for another purpose, which is to avoid diesel from being sprayed to the wall of the cylinder as the piston starts to move downwards immediately after or during the combustion.

Problem occur if the engine has no load. Meaning aircon off, battery is full charged and of course the vehicle is not running. When the engine has no load, the piston leaves the top dead center very fast. So fast that the spray (some of the "main", "post" and/or "after" fuel injection) misses the cavity and some of the fuel is sprayed to the side wall of the cylinder instead of into the cavity on the piston head. When the piston is going downward, and already far from the top dead center, bye-bye combustion na.

When diesel or any hydrocarbon touches a hot metal without creating a fire, you got SMOKE, SMOKE and plenty of white SMOKE.

After the power stroke of the piston, the next stroke is exhaust stroke as the piston goes up. So there comes all that white smoke coming out of the exhaust.

The solution:
Do NOT leave the engine to idle without any load.
Its weired but it will be better if you immediately switch on the aircon or you can drive slowly while warming up.

By the way, switching ON the aircon only is not a guarantee because you will be back to a no load condition if the aircon compressor clutch automatically disengage once the cabin temperate reaches the thermostat setting. Shut that engine off when not in use instead of inhaling while watching/videotaping that white smoke... heheh.

That white smoke coming out from engine having no load is an accepted/known phenomenon of the CRDI tech community.

Hope this help.

* arsen: i would like to believe your last post but can you please give us ( if you like lang) a little background where did you get this and are you related to mitsubishi.
im thinking also that the main difference between gtv and gls-v when idle is the aircon(auto and manual) and not gear ratio.
gls-v aircon cycles more or less every 10sec (observation only) does'nt matter where the thermostat dial is - blue zone, red zone, anywhere as long as aircon is ON. thats where engine load applies. maybe when the car is idle - computer is on idle mode ALSO and not adjusting the fuel.
don't know anyone who have gtv but we have fortuner and with its auto climate the cycling varies depending on your setting/temp outside.
pwede ba upgrade gls-v a/c to auto climate.
kulit ko na ba? smoke on idle lang po.
thanks.

fuel in the wall is bad coz its not a lubricant. please correct me if i'm wrong.

+1 ako dito, kaya most of the owner experience this always look to their side mirror and rear view mirror upon hard accelaration, if their vehicle spew the black smoke also...

it seem's that a lot of gls-v owners are compalining of "extra" smoke...i'm not a ms gls-v owner but i own a strada glx-v w/c i think is closer to ms glsv in terms of engine, tranny, aircon. good thing about my unit is that there's no extra smoke, on idle eithor aircon is off/on. so is this particular to ms gls-v only?

Same thing on my Strada VGT. Parang isolated ata mga GLS-V on this based on my observation.

BTW, nice mods on your Strada sir trup! How much mo nakuha yung RalliArt Wheels?

I'm scheduled to get my Monty GLS-V this 20th of april.

I've heard from JEDI that the cables /Video out of the AVT NAV unit for the head rest monitors are around 4k, so I asked my SA that I wouldnt go for the free 3M tint (I'm inkling for the V-kool anyway) and would like to opt for the cables instead. Doeas anybody has a picture of the cable? I'd like to show him , because until now, he doesnt have an idea about it ( what else is new??).

Thanks, ...BTW reading the previuos posts, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Sa Carland ka bumili ng cable it's only 1200.00 php wrongly overpriced naman masado yung sa CASA. I am supposed to have a pair of headrest monitors installed from Tsikot.com shop but they don't have the video out cable, luckily the following day my GTV finally had a new pair of headrest monitors when I went to Carland.

I have.

First Gen body Tucson CRDi.
Spot #1 - Driver starts his vehicle and a plume of black smoke emanates from the twin exhaust. He proceeds to throttle the accelerator and more black smoke comes out. (Like the black smoke monster from the tv series, LOST).

Spot#2 - Different Tucson (but stil first gen body and CRDi), emits smoke while cruising in low speeds 30Km/h. Whitish smoke just like the 4D56 of the Montero and Strada.

As for Hyundai tucons crdi, there are factors that we are not aware of, such as the health and maintenance records of those vehicle.
