decades ago,
our newly-built house had a firewall that refused to stop leaking during not-light rains..
we tried everything.
finally, in disgust, dad applied flat galvanized sheets over much of the wall, from the outside.
that fixed it. until now, over 40 years na, it still hasn't leaked.

now where's my wood? i better knock on it...
heh heh.

This is how we do firewalls, doc. Viewed from the neighbor's side. No cracks, no painting needed, no leaks.
