August 13th, 2022 12:37 AM #1293back in the day,
when detroit metal still lorded it in our streets,
we were penalized if we were heard talking in non-english, in school.
a classmate smart-aleck played a joke on the spaniard Priests who lorded it in the school,
"buenas dias, Padre. como esta usted?"Last edited by dr. d; August 13th, 2022 at 12:40 AM.

Doc, my Lolo and his siblings are more fluent in English than Spanish kasi they speak English among each other so my great grandparents who are more fluent in Spanish will find it harder to understand them [emoji23]
Seems like even basic Spanish phrases are forgotten na among Filipinos kasi recently my senior Uncle and I ate sa restaurant e nag ven aqui siya sa waiter and didn't understand, I guess among older non Spanish speaking Filipinos that's a very common phrase along with siantate haha

the phrase "hijo de..." still is recognized often enough.
heh heh.
some friends were having an outdoor coffee in canada.
one of them wanted a refill, and asked the vietnamese waitress for refill.
waitress said, "de cap?"
"yes, please de caf."
again, "de cap?"
"yes, de caf."
"de cap?"
"xxxx!!"
"mitch, she's asking for your cup, so's she can refill it."

Just received a pdf file from Singapore School Manila, their tuition fee for kinder is Php300k and it goes upto Php500k for secondary school level. So if you are an average filipino earning Php100k/month it is not enough to cover tuition fee + living expenses multiplied by 2 or 3 if you have other sons and daughters.

does that include extra-curriculars, i.e., lunch and merienda and etc?
... scholarships?
but i wonder,
the SG manila high school graduates.
are they automatically privileged to enrol somewhere, cost not withstanding?
do they have to fight it out to get into in kagalingan's so-called top schools?
what is the SG manila's record in preparing their HS graduates to get into college?
dee,
sa upis, pisay or masay high schools na lang. mebbe arrhneo. lasalle? no idea there.
you have child..? elementery?
i suppose, it's ok for empty nest syndrome owners who do not drive to farther-flung areas. ......
