The problem is, he doesn't want to try this Mazda 6. He said that he might like it so much that he might buy a new one. But then again, he might be making an excuse to buy the new Santa Fe.

Is that so? Well, I'm just so glad for my brother. And yes, I shouldn't expect much. I just got carried away... this is a good reminder for me.

The truth is, I have been convincing my father to consider the CX-9 everytime we meet. At least, the CX-9 if not the Miata. I wanted him to experience how to drive a Miata. Although I never had the chance yet to drive it, I believe there should be a considerable difference he should feel compared to his Santa Fe and Tucson.

My sister bought the new cx9. Tons of torque steer and no paddle shifters. Nice enough but there are better choices out there.

I think he already has a fixed mind about it. He prefers SUV and I don't know why. The third row seat of Santa Fe is useless for him. He seldomly drives alone, and he has a driver. I'm more than willing to be his driver if he'll get the Miata.

I find it to be a very western and car enthusiast-centric article with questionable and flimsy arguments.

1. TALL THINGS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE SPORTY - the PH market isn't very particular about sportiness. Look how the Altis outsells the sportier Mazda 3. Look how the City outsells the sportier Mazda 2, Jazz, and Fiesta combined.

2. SALOON CARS ARE BETTER TO LOOK AT THAN SUVS - very very subjective. But while we're at it, most non car enthusiasts I ask will say that an SUV has more appeal than a sedan.

3. YOU DON’T NEED MORE SPACE OR THAT THIRD ROW OF SEATS, NOT NOW, NOT EVER - with an average household size of 5 (vs 2.5 for the US), the possibility of needing to bring more than 5 people occasionally is higher in the Philippines.

4. LESS WEIGHT EQUALS MORE SPEED AND CASH - like sportiness, outright speed is a very important factor for Filipino car buyers, especially for those stuck in traffic most of the time. On the aspect of fuel efficiency, because of the huge disparity between diesel and gasoline prices locally (unlike in the west where diesel can cost more than unleaded), diesel PPVs actually come out cheaper to run (fuel consumption alone) than smaller compact sedans.

5. BUYING A SALOON CAR IN 2018 MEANS, YOU’RE IN THE MINORITY, WHICH IS A GOOD THING - being in the minority as a good thing is a very subjective idea and a very wobbly premise. The article is actually not really well articulated/reasoned list of opinions but some of those reasons will ring true for some car owners, especially those who choose to buy a Mazda than the oversold Toyota and Honda brands. Novelty, good looks and good driving dynamics matter more for these car owners than the cheap availability of spare parts.

2015-cx5 owner here

my battery died while in the garage so i just bought a battery from the dealership and replaced it myself
they asked me to bring the car for some istop programming/reset or something. unlucky me, closed sila due to typhoon
on the way home i noticed my istop is working! mas smooth pa nga compared before.

my question, do i still need that comp checking/reset? everything seems working fine.
i maybe wrong here, but afaik only istop is supposed to be affected when changing battery and if its working fine then ok nako?
