I've been using it for less than a year so I can't confirm it myself. However, I was surprised with our chief engineer that he recommended that product. I told him I just bought it last year and according to him, his batteries lasted him at least 3 years.
My personal experience with industrial batteries is that if you charge it regularly, it will last longer. Knowing this, I didn't hesitate to buy one.
My usual routine in charging is at least once a week, if not every night.
What is the rate of use for a car to require a CTEK charger? I mean I also have a garage queen car that we get to use only on the weekends. What I do to somehow maintain the battery life is to give it a 15km run every 2 days in the morning. somehow like a morning job to keep the juices flowing and also to exercise the engine and moving parts. Isn't this a better way?
As far as moving parts are concerned, then you should really run it. Talking about batteries, I believe that charging it using a dedicated charger is the best maintenance that you can do.
Again with my experience with backup batteries, it usually last up to 5 years. These are regular automotive batteries used as a backup supply for communications. This is the reason why I bought this CTEK without hesitation through the recommendation of *travajante.
Going back, someone here has a similar scenario with another car that is seldom used. He just plugged that charger for a week until the time he will use the car.
My dad has a 2003 Accord which is seldom used (probably once or twice a month). It has a regular motolite battery that's more than 2 years old thanks to CTEK weekend charge routine. I'm using the start/stop charger type since I'm using the charger also for my Mazda3's battery. So far there's no obvious deterioration with the battery's condition. We've checked the voltage and pH level, all good.
Typically the regular motolite battery will last only less than 2 years if the car is not used often, or driven for short distances only. Battery chargers like CTEK can help lengthen the battery's life.
I'm using the CTEK CT5 start stop battery charger for the i-stop battery type used in my Mazda3. It can be used also for regular car batteries
CTEK CT5 START/STOP Battery Charger & Maintainer | Lazada PH
But if you are going to use the charger for regular batts only (not the EFB type used for i-stop), these are your choices:
CTEK Battery Charger MXS 3.8 12V/3.8A | Lazada PH
CTEK MXS 5. Battery Charger 12V/5A | Lazada PH
Pinusuan ko na to baka mag-sale bigla ang Blade hehe My father-in-law bought one for his garage queen Mirage. Was able to try it on my 1.5 Mazda 3 and the 1-year-old Amaron on it is still good.
At least get a 10amp charger. Hindi lang siya pang trickle charging. You can also use it and powerful enough to charge other batteries that are have few juices left. Kapag 3.8 amperes kasi medjo matagal magcharge ng weak batteries.

Smart trickle chargers, like the CT5, are meant more for extending batt life. They're not fast chargers for reviving dead ones.
