Does Mazda's built-in touchscreen violate the Anti-Distracted Driving law?

Earlier today, a Twitter user by the name of *thundermushroom reached out to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) regarding another gray area in the Anti-Distracted Driving law now in effect. The issue? What if the device is built-in on top of the vehicle's dashboard?

Such is the case of current Mazda cars, which come equipped with a seven- or eight-inch Mazda Connect touchscreen dead smack on the center of the dashboard. To the common eye, this may seem like a mounted tablet or similar device, but those familiar with Mazda vehicles know this isn't the case.

The aforementioned netizen tweeted a photo of the Mazda Connect touchscreen to the MMDA Twitter page, to which the agency replied: "Mas mainam po kung ibaba niyo po kaunti pa" (It will be better if you move it down a little more).

generally, basic fluid change is decent at most shops. atf and engine oils. fuel filters, shock absorbers and brake pads, bushings, tie rods arent expensive.

    fuel filter sa casa.

Love the red color, great choice! And I wish my budget could also stretch to the AWD, but if I go with the CX-5, I'll have to make do with the FWD. Pero puwede na. Haha.

Thanks! If you're paying in cash, it wouldn't hurt to inquire with banks for a car loan for the additional difference from FWD to AWD. Actually car loan through bank is way cheaper than those in-house financing. They have more stringent requirements but the savings is well worth it.

Anybody here got a copy of the "warranty"? Agent told me I cannot change the color of the magwheels because it would void the whole warranty of the vehicle. 😨

That's bs. What possible reason could cause the warranty to be voided if you change the color of your mags?

I know. It's no different from adding pinstripes or something. However, I wanted to be on the safe side so I'm looking for a written warranty. Agent cannot provide me with one. He just said it's "verbal".

Just painting the magwheels. I'm not replacing anything. However I think the agent is doesn't really fully comprehend the warranty.

I think you should talk to another agent if you have anymore questions in the future.

Yeah. There's no "contact us" option on Mazda Philippines website.

Sadly the local dealer isn't up to speed with relevant customer concerns. Like I wanted to know what Mazda has done about the fuel dilution issues that plagued the 2.2 diesel in the Gen1 CX-5, since it is basically the same engine that is in the Gen2. The chief mechanic I was referred to was clueless about the issue - didn't even know what a DPF is. Might get the gasoline AWD instead.
