The squeal also sounds like the squeal when you're low on freon and the A/C compressor comes online. I thought I really had a faulty A/C compressor bearing or belt, but a refill / top up of freon was just what I needed and the grinding squeal I'd hear from the engine went away.
My dad and I are casa-phobic due to this kind of quick and easy "fix" from casa. We're quite likely to have befriended a few good mechanics from various casa. These few good mechanics are willing to do a home service for a reasonable cost with good service. These mechanics will say that the casa's policy is to just replace suspected defective parts instead of going through a lenghty process of investigating the actual cause of the problem and replace/specific parts. Clients who are not educated on engine maintenance end up getting screwed up by casa on various unnecessary charges.
Though similarly casa-phobic here, I couldn't muster enough courage to encourage moonlighting nor labor piracy....just can't not practice the codes & ethics we preach....Hence, I go to my lil corner & waste whatever limited downtime diggin' & DIYin'. Fortunately, got a small clique who share the passion...great extra hands.[emoji4]

I agree it's somewhat unfair to the casa that these maverick mechanics are willing to do a sideline job. If we dig deeper why they are doing this, you would probably be emphatic to them. A lot of good casa mechanics will eventually leave the country for better paying jobs abroad or start their own shop. The casa payroll for mechanics are not commensurate compared to sales people. If the casa want to get the trust of their clients, quality services with reasonable cost should be practiced. They need good mechanics. To keep these good mechanics from moonlighting, a commensurate pay (and perhaps treatment) is essential.
I'm hoping that Mazda's Yojin will prove its worth. I'm still in a wait and see stance on this.
No arguments, no hints of judgement nor lack of empathy here, sir. All good.[emoji106]What chance would values have against survival, people ask?....I just tread the path I'm more peaceful with....with or sans company.
It helps that my Mazda dealership experience has been the lone 1 to have broken through old fears & paranoia from past trauma. My Yojin experience has been above expectations. Hope this can be homogeneous countrywide.[emoji4]
