My Mom said the same thing hahahaahahahahahahah Toyota family kami , and i was the first to try other brands , for the price kasi the others at that time had more features for the same price . But Toyota SUVs are still the best in my opinion (not all mind you)

Bmw , mercs , audi, all exotics have all bad resale but they buy them because it makes them feel good . Car buying is a selfish notion and should make you feel good no matter what brand you choose , and not how much it will cost 10 years down the line because in 10 years (lets be technical) a car is almost fully depreciated so whatever you get in return is gravy.

You know, this is so well said. Like I always say, I want a car that brings me a smile every morning when I wake up & is the last thing I look at before I sleep. I also want a car that gets my juices flowing at the thought of taking it for long drives.

Dont feel bad with the 1.5 its a solid car with a more practical approach , i have a 2.0 and 1 day the low beam will die and i will have to change the bulb (even if ok pa yung high beam (not sure if im making any sense as im basing the hid on normal halogens (separate hi beam in the same 1 bulb) pls correct me nalang if hid uses the same filament when it goes to high beam) , the 1.5 will only entail changing what needs to be changed, whith the mags naman get the stock 18s or aftermarket 😄

Led taillights will be another problem when 1 single diode dies as the whole thing might have to be replaced , plus the istop is useless in our traffic (might cause more harm than good ) so 90% of the time i kill this function. Dont get me wrong ,i like my car but its not perfect, these problems ill tackle when i cross that bridge, if the m3 didn't come i was looking at the focus, (thank god i did not bite the bullet as i heard the dual clutch has major problems) . Honda civic was old and the design was meeehhhh, the altis though the safe choice had the toyota jurassic mantra (lets sell un innovative car for big money) sorry i was not born yesterday 😄

I really love my M3, I really do.. Initial budget was for mirage only but when I saw the M3 it was love at first sight :D but then ofcourse I have a growing family so thats the reason I was asking for the resale value If I would have gotten an SUV at the start then I could have not experienced the fun of driving the M3 hehe

I'm not clairvoyant, but this is your motorin' journey I see...
    -You've been spoiled early...both good & bad.
    -You'll likely add than switch.
-You're now subconsciously discriminating, choosing your next will be tuff.
-You'll be sleepwalking thru your next cars til you'll finally find that next comparable....
Please get back to me when the 4th happens, squidbolz sir...Hehe:D

Not really a fanboy just think the m3 is the best choice out there as of today (within this price range ) the civic will come out soon (dont know about the hatch version ) looks interesting , though the altis will always be the best choice , i think people are being tricked into paying that high of a price for something 100k to 200k lower than its srp

Fanboy? Defender? If these are terms for 1 who honestly share 1st hand inputs to correct false presumptions, then, I'm proud to be guilty. I'm even fine being called a looney fanatic...Hahaha.:D
How & where best can 1 get realistic longterm reviews of products & ownership? From self-proclaimed non-owner 'experts'? Or owner/enthusiasts?
If I were to buy an Altis or a Civic, why would I be in an M3 thread asking about them? Lurking to learn is fine, but I find it a bit off & funny hearing this & that about the 3 from guys who don't even own 1....I can't help but sense they could be envy driven.
You'll probably never see me in those any-I-don't-own threads preaching my presumptions & impressions of them....I'll leave that to those fanboys over there...Hahaha:D
    Enjoy your V-day guys!!!!

Well said, sir Travs. And adding my 2 cents worth...

Any purchase (more so high ticket items) are always imbued with logic and emotion. Kepner Tregoe defines these into MUSTS (logic) and WANTS (emotion). Musts would be the things that could be defined (e.g. price point, FC, and the infamous resale value). Wants (emotion) would be things that are not immediately measurable (e.g. driving dynamics, total appearance,) but is equally important - and more often the clincher in purchasing.

Resale value, IMHO, is subjective. While some brands may relatively have better resale value, it would still depend on the actual physical condition of the car. While it maybe prudent to include resale value as one of the items to consider, I would venture to say that this is not a show stopper.

Just like the Mastercard commercial, some things are priceless. Like the pride and self-esteem I often get when people compliment how my M3 looks. Add to these friends who have actually taken a ride and the raves just exponentially increase.

For those who choose to be safe and purchase the utilitarian looking cars because of resale value, I wish you all the best. Personally, the potential 40 to 50k price differential in resale value is a healthy trade off for the sheer pleasure and ecstasy in owning a gem of a car.
