Pls disregard this. My bad. Pressed the reply button inadvertently

Just drove my 2.0 mazda 3 sedan from antipolo to san pablo and the computer registered 8.8L/100km. Traffic is moderate and hataw mode every chance i get. Just noticed that 3m tint installed by casa is not that effective in deflecting heat from the sun
I am really curious about that given that the numbers in reviews show the Mazda 3 1.5 can outperform the Altis in FC (basing on the links above - even if you also add in the sgcarmart comparo). Granted though they are not really completely real world use.
Also, I wonder what would happen if it is fitted with Bridgestone Ecopias. Searched their site and they have the Ecopia EP422 for the 205/60r16 that the 1.5V uses, how much "better" improvement in FC does that get as well.
I don't recall the Mazda 3's being fitted with Ecopias or similar fuel saving tires but do correct me if I am wrong.
I'd think about it if i were you. I'm actually planning to replace mine with Vkool as dashboard is quite hot due to exposure to sun. Mine by the way is medium on the sides and light on the windshield (full). Aircon though is capable and can compensate at 23
I keep getting an error when I post the link which is very frustrating.
I sent it to you via pm so you can try posting it here for others if you want to attempt.
Just an excerpt, based on typical European traffic in km per liter as per the site
City 12.6 to 16.1
Highway 15.4 to 18.8
average 17.1
And the sweet spot using the following conditions
"Estimated fuel economy by constant speeds on top gear, steady ride without acceleration or braking, flat concrete or tarmac surface, no wind"
is to run the 1.5 Skyactiv at 60kmph to yield 27 km/l. However, if you run it at 50kmph or 70kmph you get the same 26.3 km/l
Thats from the link I sent you via pm.
FC as of 5/18/2014
Mazda 3 2.0L Hatch
Odometer: 500 km
Traffic condition: Purely city; mostly bumper to bumper
Ave. speed: 14 kph
i-Stop: Occasional use
Result: 8.1 Km/L
I'll post my FC for purely highway maybe 2 weeks from now. HTH!![]()
Thanks for the link. Fuel economy review of 2013 Mazda 3 1.5 SkyActiv-G (model since July 2013 for Europe )
I'm more concerned on the city traffic fuel consumption (30's km/h ave speed), but would the euro based traffic be the same as ours in the phil? and the euro spec mazda has a different combustion ratio 14:1 compared to ours 13:1, would that matter?
And i cant seem to find the 11th gen corolla in their website to compare with.... meron ba?
Nope, I can;t find it there as well. It looked like they stopped when the previous Altis didn't have dual vvti yet which is peculiar.
So in order to at least get a frame of reference, I looked up their Honda Jazz review for FC to get a better picture of proximity to real world (for lack of a better word)
I do wonder as well why the techl specs of their 1.5 seems to be different when al engines of skyactiv are only scaleable and should be similar for each engine trim. Maybe that has an effect on FC if their compression ratio is higher than ours since they get better torque.
I am still on the belief that 10km/l for the 1.5 Skyactiv is achievable for city traffic, but realistically looking at 9 for normal traffic while around 7.5 to 8 for crawling pace like what some owners are reporting here. Highway I am expecting a range of 14 to 16km/l depending on speed. =) If these number fall true or are actually better, I don't see a problem as this is quite similar to our Honda City 1.3 i-Dsi 2008 Model.
But I will want to wait for more updates from current owners of the 1.5. It is quite odd though as the 1.5 Skyactiv G is not sold as much and they usually sell the 2.0 more which makes it harder to get reviews from other parts of the world.
Is it limited to EU and ASEAN for 1.5 Skyactiv G? And at present is the Mazda 3 the only vehicle carrying it? Or have they transplanted it to some models of the MAzda 2 pre Kodo design update?
The link above is for the Manual transmission. There is a HUGE fuel consumption penalty with the 6AT. Also the numbers only represent ideal conditions ie driver only(no passengers) and zero traffic.
Toyota doesn't support automobile-catalogue unfortunately hence you can't find their specifications.
Most of the FC reported by the Altis 1.6V owners in their thread were quite good compared Mazda3 1.5 and that made me hesitant on getting the Mazda 3 1.5... maybe the 1.5 version is not efficient as the 2.0...
The Forester XT I drove this weekend gave me 8km/l for a long drive. 4,000kms odosuper bad FC in traffic around 5 when crawling along EDSA with a light foot so hindi ko alam kung yung 7.5km/l stated ba is during weekends or in a route na wala naman halos traffic.
Different driving conditions lead to different FC figures. Might be wise to compare routes as well aside from km/l readings.
Doesn't that only apply to highway driving in terms of taking a hit in FC? Especially if you want to travel at a higher speed as the engine essentially needs to work harder.
And yes, the Skyactiv transmission is rated to perform as good as or slightly better than manual otherwise, what is the point right?
For now, we have reports from owners who have done pre-1000 odo travels mostly.
If you even look at Yaris owners, they are claiming tested FC of 7-8 for city, and that car is lighter compared to the Mazda 3 with no real technological breakthroughs in how it was engineered per se. (peak torque of the Mazda 3 is still easily achieved at a lower rpm).
So let's just wait for further reports from owners before we claim it is not efficient as it is still new and only a few markets carry the 1.5 Skyactiv G. I do wish we could get another reference (hoping they do use the 1.5 Skyactiv G in the current Mazda 2) in other markets just for the engine at least.
Cheers!
