Lamson has been at this back up cam mod for the longest time. I'd honestly trust Louie Anson Ng more than anyone, any dealership on this. There will be no experiments, no issues.

Rare is the chance to be both noob driver & Mown3r. Black is a awesome but a pain to keep clean & swirlfree. Get that white. With other badges, pearl is premium. M3 in any of the colors offered will look great. Plus, you're extremely lucky not to wait like everyone else.
I don't see the point of getting some beater for mastery nor delaying Mown3rship. You'll be forced into defensive driving & learning faster. A few drawbacks tho...expect to acquire OCD, the mod mutation & eventually TEINitis. Most initially say "No"..."Impossible"..."I'm never gonna fall for that"..
Those???? They now are either infected or even worse, infecting others. Hahaha.

The biggest problem I see w/ the M3 being someone's 1st car is this....the succeeding 1s you'll eventually own may never be as satisfying.

I'm both a noob driver and a new M3 owner. I was thinking of buying Yaris before before but when I saw Mazda, I knew this car is calling me. But I was having second thoughts back then. Noob driver pa lang naman ako tapos mazda na agad...pwede na siguro ako sa Toyota muna. Then my friend told me "Hindi pwedeng pwede na for your first car. 5 years mo babayaran. Dun ka na sa gusto mo talaga." Kaya ayun Mazda 3 na binibili ko.

As for the color, since I could not afford the soul red, caught between white and silver ako. In the end, I took the white one. Yes need mo punasan yung dumi kasi kita agad pero atleast ok lang siya sa alikabok (di aya ng black...kitang kita talaga yung alikabok). At di rin masyado halata ang scratches may battle scar na si Treize ko pero di halata kasi nga white hehehe.

Regarding sa color choice ko, I was under the impression na kapag white, mas mahirap imaintain kasi kapag nadumihan siya, kitang kita agad at baka mahirap linisin. But then, baligtad pala? Mas mahirap pala kapag black sir?

Yung sa reverse cam, do you think na safe na ipa-install ko kay Sir Louie yung cam kahit walang consent ni dealer? Di kaya i-void nila yung warranty ko kapag nalaman nila? They were strict na daw kasi ngayon dahil may incident sila na nagpa-install ng sensors (hindi naman nila sinabi na specifically sa Mazda 3) and nagcause ng problems. They advised me to stay away sa mods as much as possible, atleast for 3 years, just to be safe.

Meron po. Mine's a 1.5V HB. Medyo may konti adjustment nga lang for the reverse cam ng HB. Treat the yellow line as a red line. Dahil daw sa position ng harness yun. Ahahaha

On cam, Lamson doesn't touch anything but that harness. There have been no issues heard. My trick? I'll never ask questions that likely would get me unfavorable known answers. Haha...If issues pointing to mods pop??? We suck it up & appeal. It's not like they'll void Yojin entirely....only the faults from the mods

Being a noob, be as absorbent as cotton. Observe, plan, research & feel your direction. This thread has practically covered almost everything M3 & the Mown3rs on here are genuinely helpful & respectful. There are no such things as dumb nor noob questions....so, fire away.

sorry to budge in, but yes you are correct, white easily gets dirty especially in our dusty PH condition plus rains. Wash often. black or darker colored ones likewise easily gets dirty too, and it shows more light scratches and swirls marks (from washing/drying your car) more than lighter colored cars, making them less shiny, so its harder to maintain, more detailing needed. Kalaban mo also sa white are stains, especially tree saps, leave it under the sun too long and it will become embedded in the paint. mas hindi halata stains sa dark colors. when it comes to colors, pick what you really like, you can't return it if you have second thoughts about the color and is always at the back of your mind you really liked the other color, etc.

for warranty/yoijin3 purposes, read your warranty/yoijin3 booklet for the terms and conditions. if its indicated there na mods will void them then why risk it? honestly back up cameras to me are pretty useless for such a small car, especially if you have the sensors already, hindi naman malaking suv or closed van yun mazda3. if you really cant live without one, then buy the original mazda back up camera abroad and have them install it, so they won't have any problems with it since its orig mazda accessory. take note with generic back up cameras, depends what brand you get from china, some are poor quality, some are ok.

is lamson selling the orig mazda back up camera? or perhaps an oem branded for mazda back up camera? or simply a generic camera?

of course mazda distributor/dealer network will protect themselves, and an easy way out for them is to blame our mods to our cars in case certain problems arise. but sometimes can't blame them too, palpak din talaga gawa sa labas kuminsan, especially in car audio, banawe shops are known to not even solder and shrink wrap wires when they splice and reconnect them

Good points. Yep. I'm being extra careful with my decisions since this will be my first. Hehehe. I've been following this thread for a while na din and already got some good ideas from questions of other Mown3rs. Hehehe.

Had my reverse camera installed last February from Lamson's (2.0 hb), unfortunately I had it removed after 2 days. There seems to be a bug or incompatibility with my unit and the camera that it shuts the display off randomly while reversing, which I've also read in other forums. Louie told me it's probably my version of the infotainment (OS v28) needs updating, but since I don't have time to update the OS and no dealerships yet were offering OS updates that time, I had no choice.

Since I'm a novice driver(and this being my first car), I deemed it necessary at first to have a backup camera. But after 9 months driving without one, I find it awkward, unnecessary and somehow misleading using one because the camera is not really positioned at the center, that I would actually prefer not using one, even if I didn't have the issue mentioned. Admittedly, the sensor is a big help and without one, my car would have gotten (more) dents and battle scars. One thing I'm not sure but my wife observed, nasty smell from outside seems to be getting inside while I had the reverse camera installed. None of these issues were observed/reported by those who have it installed from our FB club.

One thing though with the backup cam, it's just that when I was practicing my driving, it was in a Honda City with a backup camera installed. Nakasanayan ko lang siguro and it's a bummer na hindi siya standard across Mazda 3 variants, so naisip ko lang na magpa-install as most of the guys here also did. I haven't tried driving with just the reverse parking sensors. Might as well check na lang din muna kung kaya ko naman without the cam kapag narelease yung unit ko by December. Hehehe

sir naayos na ata namin yung issue na yan with our current batch of cameras. dati kasi may converter pa kaming inaattach sa camera, ngayon built in na sa camera mismo yung converter. regardless, kung nasanay na rin kayo na walang camera tinitignan it's all good, hehe. with regards dun sa smell it's possible na di naka-on yung air circulation mode dun sa air vents dahil pag nagdisconnect ng battery from the terminal for a period of time nagrereset yung settings. it's just a possibility though, not sure kung yung mode na yun kasama sa settings na narereset.
