I am not an authority with regards to your question. But here's my 2¢.

The dealers i have talked with claim that there is no need for a break-in.

IMO Kia probably did a break-in on the engine to ensure that the engine will no longer have a problem as they have a 10 yr warranty period on some countries.

This doesn't mean however that the engine is already operating in its optimum capacity as the max speed and fuel consumption improves on its first 5000 km, based on my personal experience.

Anyway i did a little research on how to break in a brand new car. My research added a little anxiety as i have to decide whether to do a soft break in or a hard break in. So i did a little of both.

I did my own break in for the reason that it was the safer option. No harm on the engine anyway.

I also had a change oil on the first 1000 km instead of the first 5000 km as recommended by the dealer, again to be on the safe side.

no break in needed daw sabi din ng dealer ko ... on it's first week with me, I've done long drives with in na and wala namang naging problema ;-)

Pero ofcourse I avoided straining the engine muna, so I sticked with driving below 120KPH na muna ... pero after a month 130 140 :-p no problem

I passed by Banawe today looking for a particular accessory for my Sportage. I wasn't really sure I could find one there but its worth a try pa din.

I am looking for nice looking license plate mount similar to this one in the picture.

It's easier to show you than to describe it... anyway, does anybody know where I can get one? and pasabi nalang how much it costs

salamat guys sa info about brake-in... akyat kasi kami ng baguio this march or april 08. ang odo meter reading is 720KM plus. so, if we drive the vehicle from bicol to baguio not exceeding 100km/h ok lang po ba yun???

well, matulin na ang 100Kph para sakin. so, ok lang na ibyahe namin ng pagka layo-layo ang sasakyan during its supposedly "break-in" period? basta hinay-hinay lang.
