i checked out Kia Sportage CRDi 4x4 at our local dealership here. It was priced at 1.18M. Although I didn't take it for a test drive i was very impressed with it. Most remarkable was the solid but silent thud when closing the doors; and according to the sales rep, this is also observed by almost all who looked at the unit. I liked that it has ABS and all-disc brakes.
The downside is NO airbags whatsoever. I think for a 1M+ vehicle, this should come as standard. And the auto tranny is only 4-speed. Y not make it 5? But there's shiftronic if you prefer manually controlling the gears.
I will check out next the Tucson....
I went through the same decision process myself, thinking whether I should opt for the more modern curves of the Tucson vs. the more traditional styling of the Sportage. What finally won me over was the interiors - leather sides and seats of the Sportage and for the money, 4wd (vs. only 2wd for the Tucson) and while some will say they are the same suspension, I found the Sportage had a firmer ride, which while slightly more "matagtag", had less body roll.

[quote=AntonM;1005719]I can confirm that my Sporrage crdi fc is now 10-11 km/li city and 13-15 provincial/long trips. It's very efficient/economical, I am pleasantly very surprised![/quote
Tnx sa info! mined is gas bought last week, medyo kasi matakaw sa gas,FC 6.6km per liter sana mag improve pa. Sabi nila breakin period, need to calibrate para tumipid sa gas.
Is the 4x4 sportage's tranny engaged all the time? or is it a RT4Wd like the CRV's? or is it a 2WD vehicle and you have to engage the 4WD manually?
I was wondering coz i think i saw a small button near the left hand side of the dash with the marking 4WD lock.
Yes, it's like the CRV on demand 4x4 and it also has an option to lock for
4WD.
That does it! Goodbye Carens and Hello Sportage for me. :D
