Hello Sorento enthusiast,
If you can wait for Sorento GDIs or Hyundai/Kia cars with GDI engines probably is coming later in the Philippines for a cleaner and effecient engine.

Dealers can sometimes be a pain in the ass when it comes to these things, but it doesn't mean the car itself is inferior. The Sorento is the only car I didn't get to test drive but I ended up purchasing it anyway. The global supply of Kia likely hasn't stabilized yet which explains the lack of test drive units. The Sorento is sold globally, hence the limits in supply. I think the new management of Columbia Motors is trying its best to bring order to their chaotic dealer network.
I bought my Kia from Macapagal but have it serviced at KIA Pasay, which is voted in this thread as one of the better service centers. I've had experience with both Toyota and Honda Casas and I must say that Kia Pasay gives me the best experience in service so far. Honda and Toyota casas are both a big pain to deal with, at least in my experience.
HELP!
Yeah. Being able to test drive the unit is a big thing for me though. Since I will be stuck with the car that I will purchase for a few years. I want to be sure that the car I will purchase is the right one.
How long have you had your sorento? Any pros / cons you can cite?
Cheers!
Have owned the Sorento for a year and 3 months now.
Pros:
- fit and finish is very good, materials used are good quality which tells you where your money went.
- Good amount of power even if petrol engine, low cost on maintenance, 6-speed transmission is the best I've tried so far (tranny adapts to your driving, and shifts faster when in a hurry).
- Casa service is very good.
- relatively fuel efficient.
- very comfortable in long drives. The fact that it has a bigger cabin space than its segment peers (Fortuner, Montero, even Sta Fe) is a big thing for me because more space=comfort.
Cons:
- uhm, color black yung unit ko so hirap i-maintain ng paint.
- nu pa ba... oh, right! aircon has a smell coming out pag umaarangkada, but very seldom lang. Found out the this is normal in some cars that got stuck sa warehouse for a few months.. probably caused by molds.
- Mas matagtag kaysa sa CRV or other compact SUV... Guess its due to the fact that Sorento has higher ground clearance.
So far, yun lang mga cons... am very happy with the car. Sarap i-drive, sarap i-setup.
Layo na ng Kia from what it used to be.
Hi guys, I'm planning to buy a 2004 Sorento EX 3.5L Gas A/T 4x4 for 430k. Do you guys think this is a good deal? What are the common problems which I need to check before buying? It has 60km in the odometer, by the way. Hope you guys could help.
Thanks!
seats are 100k because og the additional rear air conditioning. another 100 for smart keys, chrome door handles, side mirrors with turning signals and a rear spoiler
