Been busy this past few days sa field gregg_g.
Hi JeanPierre,
Actually there is an english version to that site, just click the upper right combo box... and the 2nd option and that's english.. Btw, I invited a Filipino Sorento owner from Subic who is very active in another forum - Sorentosite- to come over and join us here in Tsikot... His name is Danny and his ride is great !! He has had several mods to it...
That's great for us and other Sorento owners. We might be able to pick up some more mods for our Sorie. Have you done rubber coating sa pang ilalim ng Sorento mo? I'm planning to have it done this time. Rustproofing is already done by SAVI sa casa. What do you think with this rubber coating sa pang ilalim?Originally Posted by gregg_g
Hi Jeanpierre,
I think that will be nice especially if you do some serious truckin to protect you from serious scrapes...
So it might help my ride then since I'm planning go to Antique uli pag uwi ko this time to pick up my parents and then proceed to Iloilo to visit some of our relatives there. I'll be doing it via ro-ro from batangas to mindoro, take ro-ro again from mindoro to caticlan, boracay. Originally Posted by gregg_g

Hello Friends,
I was surfing the web to find out more about the Kia Sorento in Manila, and I came across this wonderful forum page. Exactly what I was looking for - proud owners of their Sorentos, and knowledgable about whats available in terms of options/pricing etc. I am a foreigner just moved to Manila, and I am very much interested in purchasing the Sorento. However, I went to only one dealer in the Pasong Tamo extension today, and I was not very happy with his service. I really want to find a better Kia dealership (or even Gray import) so that I can get my questions answered. So...here I go, with a boat load of questions for this Forum. Looking forward to your help.(PS - unfortunately, I have yet to learn Tagalog, so I couls not follow a lot of the discussions on this page. I do hope you will help by replying in English. SALAMAT!!!)
1) Is there a 3.5L Gas version available in Manila?
2) What are the interior/exterior spec differences between the 3.5L Gas the the top of the line Dsl (EX model)?
3) Where are the other Kia dealerships where I can find someone who can answer my questions well?
4) I read about moonroof/power driver seat/third row seats/factory fitted leather. Are any of these options available on dealer sold cars - or only from Gray importers?
5) What is the risk of going with gray importers? what should i be worried about?
6) I want to significantly customise my sorento - aesthetically. Is there a one-stop shop that specialises in Kia's that can help?
7) Has anyone put on 17"/18"/19" Mags on their Sorentos? Do you have pics? How rough does the ride become with the lower profile tires?
8) I want to do a custom installation of DVD player, and roof mounted drop down LCD. Any idea where to go and how much?
9) REgarding the chip tuning, Anyone done it to their DSL Sorentos? What does the increase in performance feel like?
Sorry for asking so many questions, But I really need some help as Ive been in the country less than two weeks, and I cant WAIT to get my Sorento!!!
Thanks all -
Sinster.
HI Sinster,
Glad to know of your interest with theSorento !! Actually check DannyJP (PM him) he is a filipino owning a 3.5V6 Gas engine- http://www.sorentosite.com/forum/mem...rofile&uid=461. I just invited him days ago to come over to this forum...
Sinster, you can check it out with WHEELS at E.Rodriguez Ave. 3.5 Sorento is available and they can install outright A DVD and a roof mounted drop down LCD screen if you want. They have the diesel version too so you can check it yourself and decide.
If you want a gray market diesel Sorento, I can only give you one name, HANS Motors. I don't know the address but it could be in the yellow pages.
I just receive this ordered sa internet:[IMG][/IMG]

I'll post the picture pag nainstall ko na to see kung di baduy pag meron nito..he..he..he

:hihihi: He deserves it for giving me a worry-free and trouble-free ride gregg_g. I also wanted to give him more air to inhale pero walang makunan ng K&N filter.Originally Posted by gregg_g
Meron kasi akong gustong e try na product seen here sa indonesia which is DIY installation. If it works, you can install it too sa ride mo.
Sorry nalito kita. I mean the main fuel pump.TnxsOriginally Posted by gregg_g
Hi guys, I thought it would be fitting to intorduce a trail specifically suited for Sorentos (since I own one and have been using it to get up the camp for quite some time).
Camp Rock is a 4-hectare "offroader's haven," (at least I'd like to believe it to be so). It's 1,600 ft above sea level in Mt. Isarog, Naga City. Taking the mountain road towards Panicuason (about 800 ft elevation), you turn left northward (the barangay road's paved), and where the road ends, the trail begins. The cautionary here is that only carabao-bullocks pass through this trail and there are quite harrowing angles to the climb where the narrow trail is sandwiched by cliff-like sides. I've dinged and banged up my LC a few times when it would slide sideways and hit the wall (while carrying heavy loads).
Serious trailing is 4 kilometers starting where the paved road ends. In case a vehicle gets stuck, residents along the trail already know (and are used to) how to assist those in need. There's talk of NPAs in the mountain, but, since we started construction in early 2005, I have yet to encounter these nice people nor have to hear of mayhem wrought by their presence in these parts. The villagers are all very accommodating and, in fact, welcome offroaders (tips of P20 to P100 during assists help make them even nicer).
There are also several areas where you'd have to rev up in your low-range to traverse 2-3 foot deep canal-like parts of the track. MInd you, it's not for the faint hearted. My Sorento's kinda scratched up towards the back end as a result.
We opened the camp in late September and have gotten several visits from adventurous bicolanos so far. Camp Rock has 9 open huts (no doors, no walls, just a large mosquito netting to cover the hut), each one with 6 foam beds. You can park your 4x4 right next to each of the huts. There's a mud-and-grit track for those who wish to release offroading energy (moderate level of diffculty), and a spring-fed "communal shower" both for humans and vehicles.
The premises is not enclosed by walls, but is protected by perimeter cameras and 6 armed security guards. There's a restaurant open 24x7. Rates are very reasonable. An overnight stay per person (including the vehicle) is P500, inclusive of breakfast, for as long as you don't mind sharing your hut with 5 other persons.
Did i forget to mention that the centerpiece of the Camp is an olympic standard pool?
Only rock crawlers can get up to Camp Rock; my cousin's Xtrail bogged down at the start of the trail and a friend's Escape gave up on the first deep rut. there are no shortcut, easy trails in getting up there. So far, only my trusty Land Cruiser 80, a friend's 4x4 Pajero, a couple of Grand Vitaras and an XL7 as well as 4x4 jeeps and pickups have been able to go up in one piece.
My Sorento gets me and (one time only) my mom up the Camp comfortably -- there are a few scary points, but the Sorento''s quite up to the task.
If you want to test your Sorento on offroad trails but not enough to risk it getting banged up, you might want to try Camp Rock. If you're interested or want to put together a Sorento group for a summer expedition, give me a holler.

PAHABOL:
The Sorento is head over shoulders above those who are macho-endowed with their car-based so-called 4WD CRVs, Xtrails, Escapes and ball-less (4x2) Alterras, Pajero fieldmasters 4x2 Fortuners and Patrols.
I am challenging Fortuner 4x4 owners to match rockcrawling abilities with my Sorento (stock tires, everything). Camp Rock will sort out the true rockcrawlers from just the pretty faces. See you on top!
Washed and cleaned up, my Sorento on top of the world (sort of)
That's a daring challenge Sorento3500 sa mga Fortuner 4X4 owners. I doubt if kakayanin ng Fortuner yong sinasabi mo na off-roading set up. Seems pogi points habol nilaHindi yata oobra yong AWD nila sa 4X4 drive system ng Sorento.
