September 11th, 2008 10:13 PM #2311Goodevening peeps. I have 0robkem with my Carnival LS year 200 model. Bought last july 2005
Just recently my inlaws had the Nozzle, changed (surplus)... and then after the changing of the nozzle tip (4 total), a new problem came up.
My car seemed to ahve lost some engine power. Like, the shiifting (automatic) is somewhat not consistent anymore. Galit na galit na muna yung akina bago magchange gear, aabot muna ng 2500-4000 rpm before the first shift happens, this is recurrent evertime that I use the car. Had it checked at an authorized kia service center in Dasmarinas, the tech said that we need to change the ATF and filter and the cost? We consulted a different technician, his obsrevation is diffrent from the first one.
Guys i really need help on this, wala kasi akong ibang ride ito lang. The car can't even reach 1ookm/h on a flat road anymore, if it does reach, the engine is like working bigtime, dinig/ramdam talga na pwersado na pero walan power.
hope somebpd could help me here at kung me mairerecommend na magandang puntahan for repairs down south. Im from Gen. trias cavite.
thanks guys.

September 12th, 2008 01:20 PM #2312mga tsikoteer,
question lang, ive been hearing this grinding sound lately sa 00 model carnival ko, siguro at least once or twice a day i hear it, though it doesnt last long.....ang kutob ko is ung timing chain na/oil pumpchain....
do u guys think that un na ang culprit?
-crankshaft sprocket: eto daw ung posibleng nag po produce ng grinding noise and not the chain
-balancer sprocket
-timing chain
meron pa ba mga dapat mga palitan?
*sir yapoy: sir do u think na pwede din mag service si mang rogher ng las pinas re: sa timing chain....sobrang taas kasi ng labor sa goodgear....almost 7k........never had the time to go back to him again....
or any other service shop out there na magaling sa kia bukod sa CASA?
tnx

September 13th, 2008 11:22 AM #2313*francomigz, its better if you have your ATF and Transmission filter changed first... btw, when did you last time changed the ATF??
*celd15b, its better kung pagsabay mo na lahat ng pagawa para makatipid ka sa labor...madali naman kausap yan mechaniko eh... nung nagpapalit ako ng timing belt 2,500 ang labor pero kasama na yung pag ayos ng leak sa valve cover pati yung injectors ko nilagyan ng o-ring para hindi pinapasok ng dumi, pinakiusap ko na din pag palit ng stabilizer rod bushing... schedule mo sabay palit ng timing belt, oil pump and chains, bearings, oil seals, and clutch, roughly mga 30k magagastos mo dyan but sure you'll use it for the next 5years worry free..

September 15th, 2008 10:58 AM #2314celd15b: looks like your problem is the same problem i had a while back - oil pump assembly. initially intermittent lang young grinding sound and usually sa start-up but later on nung lumala talagang di na nawawala yung sound. anyway, regarding dun sa claim ng goodgear na pwede yung oil pump assembly ng sedona. if i remember correctly parang magkaiba ang sukat, mas mahal nga yung assembly ng carnival. the best thing to do to be sure is to bring the old assembly with you and compare.
been doing diy projects with my carnival lately and and latest ko headlight cleaning - badly oxidized na yung sa akin, namumuti na. and since binuksan ko na rin lang yung headlight, i decided to paint the housing as well with the same color as the body mica red (as oppose to the usual black for the smoked-look).
mga peeps, right now yung aircon naman ang nagloloko sa akin, the compressor would die out after about 10 km. but if you restart it later in the day malamig na ulit and buga ng aircon. i don't know if something's afoul with the thermostat or if its the compressor itself.

anyways, eto, just discover dis just now....nung nag post ako about the grinding sound akala ko nga it was the timing chain...pero i found out na hinde pala...waaaaaahhhhhhh...
while going to work, around 1130pm, galing kasi ako marikina, ung griniding sound would come and go for about a second or two......pero when i was nearing kalayaan intersection sa may c5 ung grinding sound biglang nag ingay at hinde na nawala, i kept on driving hoping to reach the petron station sa c5 southbound.....nung malapit na ako sa petron i decided to turn off the aircon dahil curious lang ako sa ingay....den boom, unti unti nag fade ung grinding sound hanggang sa mawala...i didnt bother to stop sa petron anymore kase nawala ung sound...so i kept on going (w/o aircon) hanggang makarating ako sa work ko (roxas blvd)....
pag park, i decided to turn the aircon, ayun bumalik ung ingay...so pinatay ko ulit, nawala ingay then turn on again, wala na sya..then so on....pero take note...malamig pa rin ung aircon......
so what do u think guys, i think some part ng aircon ang culprit....i dont think na compressor, kasi iba sound ng busted compressor.....
any ideas?
sensya na at long story....hehehehehehe

September 17th, 2008 05:46 PM #2316RE celd15b's problem about the grinding noise, I think I have a similar experience a few months back. It got so loud & irritating pero ok naman lamig nung aircon. My carnival's 01 model A/T
Na trace namin that the sound came from the fan or blower located out front under the right side (passenger) of the dashboard. I had it replaced kaya nawala pero bumalik after more than a month. Pinadala ko sa gumagawa ng aircon, they fixed something & it turns out na baka 'di pala sira yung pinalitan kung blower (really sucks). I can't tell you what they fixed, itanong ko sa driver (kaso makakalimutin din yun), i post ko if he remembers. My supposed busted blower worked well when it was tested outside (that should've been the signal that something else was busted) pero nag iingay pag binalik. For the meantime, have that blower checked & the aircon na rin.

It's quite new, (March or June '08). Pag discharged (not totally I think) 'di na kaya mag start. PAg ginamitan ng ibang battery or i series, start naman. Then pag tinanggal yung battery na pinang start, the engine doesn't stop. Is that a sure sign that my alternator's ok? Pag binalik yung battery, nagkakarga na ulit supposedly. Kaso after a few days (after a day & a half na lang lately) , ganun na naman. I can have the battery replaced naman yata. I just want to know kung pwede bang may diperensiya yung alternator despite it's ok performance pag habang hindi nakakabit ang battery (as in telltale signs kaya yun of it's deteriorated state?). Kaya ko naman naisip yun e kasi bago battery although it's not impossible na may sira nga yun.
I hope some of you guys could share some inputs, thanks

September 18th, 2008 07:13 AM #2318it could be that your car electrical system is grounded. one way to check is to remove and replace the positive terminal with the ignition off, if there is a spark that's a sure sign that something in the system is drawing out power from your battery. i had the same experience just two weeks back. at any rate, you definitely need an auto electrician bro.

September 18th, 2008 11:31 AM #2319Diesel po ba yan or gas?? sa diesel engine hindi talaga mamatay makina once it started.. it only needs small amount of energy for the fuel cut-off solenoid to stay ON.. does your electricals die even the engine is running?? say your headlights go dim and your aircon blower runs slow?? if that is the case then your alternator is the culprit.. otherwise have your battery checked.. some batteries even branded ones can still be defective and needs immediate replacement..

pag nag iingay kase sya, all i do is turn the aircon off, then the grinding sound disappears........ang buong akala ko talaga is ung timing chain na......
tsikoteers, any ideas kung ano cause? possible kaya na blower? or rad fan?
mga magkano ba ang blower?
kanina kinatok ko ung box ng blower then test drive the car with aircon on for about an hour or so.......nawala naman ung sound....ewan ko.......test test muna ulit ako....
madali ba magbaklas ng blower?
