anyways i was able to fix it...i found a shop somewhere in pasay who sells only ignition key assy....got it for 600 petot..now ok na pag start ko..one click...tnx..
bad news?
here goes......last sat when i started the car, i heard this squeaking sound coming from the right side.....it went away after mins. of driving....but until now meron pa rin at parang lumalakas lalo...what can this be? anyone might know? also ano ba difference ng grinding sound sa squeaking sound?
nag alala ako baka ung oil pump chain...kasi sabi nila u would hear a grinding sound that would not go away....
also that afternoon after driving i had the time to kalikot the car, i disassemble the filter and the filter box leading to the turbo...and damn to my surprise i found some traces of oil dun sa short tube leading to the turbo...the turbo also had a drip of oil, in short meron oil....this got me worried.......
then when i remove the intercooler to access the engine cover, damn again there was so much oil dun sa gitna ng valve cover, ung may gap na part sa gitna.....
ang tanong, ano kaya cause nun? malala na ba? or kaya pa remedyuhan? this really got me worried...pero ung oil ko di naman nababawasan (sa dipstick) un nga lang ang dumi na since may last oil changed about a month ago...
pls help..
also:
can i clen the intercooler? if so with what?

August 4th, 2008 09:48 PM #2292for the oil in the turbo actually normal talaga yan sa carnival.. kaya some carnival owners here installed an oil mist separator to at lease minimize the problem...like me...malakas kasi ang turbo ng carnival kaya higop lahat... for the intercooler you can clean that using diesel fuel lagyan mo lang ng diesel then alog alog mo lang medyo messy nga lang pag linis nyan.... yung sa valve cover papalitan lang valve cover gasket nyan mga 300 pesos yun.. sabay mo na palinis ng intake manifold... tapos pa block mo na EGR mo to prevent gunk build up at intake manifold..tapos yung BOLT ng valve cover papalitan mo din rubber washers or you may add metal washers to push the valve cover more against the engine keeping it more sealed..
sa diesel engine normal po na maitim ang langis kahit newly changed oil... walang problem yang engine mo normal lang talaga na may oil dun due to the PCV lahat ng diesel engine ganyan kahit gas engines hindi nga lang kasing lala ng diesel engine kasi high compression combustion ang diesel engines..you just need to change the things i mentioned..
yun squeaking possible problem is yung crankshaft pulley mo eh malapit na palitan or kailangan mo lang mag palit ng serpentine belt..yung crankshaft pulley mga 4k yun yung belt mga 700 pesos..
buti naman na solve na problem mo sa ignition key pala.. pero watch out din yung sa starter.. kasi common problem ng carnival gen 1 yung copper contacts ng starter...pag umulit yan "click" starter na yan

Yapoy, MIntoy, Jabr, sa lahat po ng nagreply sa post ko thanks po...
Naputol un alternator belt ko last week so....the culpirt was tensioner dapa na raw sbe nung mechanic , okey pa daw un crankshaft pulley ko...palit ako tensioner, sbay na din brake pads and axle boots at the same time...post ko how much naging total nasa bahay lang un receipt pero sa fronte ko lhat nakuha parts.....
thanks ulit sa lahat ng tumulong next project timing belt na....may timing belt kit ba? any advice ulit mga bossing...CONTITECH ba ginamit mo idol yapoy? howmuch damage nun...gudpm sa lahat

August 5th, 2008 08:12 PM #2296i used CONTITECH brand.. cost 3,200 pesos .. try contacting jcastillo here in tsikot i think he has parts for the carnival.. yan kasi ang ORIG part for timing belt.. iba ang tibay at kapal nyan compared sa iba.. i also replaced tensioner and belt guides overall parts cost around 9k..
lahat yata ng common problem ng carnival ko noon na experience ko and all was solved easily.. ang hindi ko lang na experience is yun sa oil pump.. so sa ibang owners dyan post nyo lang problems nyo para matulungan kayo..
ako lang kasi nag rerepair at maintain ng carnival ko noon kaya halos na kabisado ko na yan lahat pati pag baklas hehehe..
also try nyo din linisin yung breather filter ng gas tank nyo.. nasa ilalim yung ng gas tank sa side makikita nyo maliit na filter.. makakatulong din ito to improve engine performance kasi fuel tanks may have vacuum or air build up that may affect engine performance..

sir yapoy; maraming salamat talaga sa mga tips and helps nyo....anyways, i had the time to check under the carnival...dami talaga oil....i guess gawin ko na lang ung na mention nyoalso ano ba ung serpentine belt? un talaga ung name nya?
also baka may mga tips kayo dyan kung ano ano ung mga pwedeng i DIY...mahilig kasi din ako mag DIY.....hehehehe
also, nawala na ulit ung squeaking sound ko...nung nag squeak pa sya, pina kinggan ko and somewhere sya sa timing belt area.....possible ba na timing belt na?
anyways, enjoy naman kami sa carnival namin...un nga lang mas madami maintenance..
good side naman:
ask ko lang kung ung third row na upuan can be folded down frontward all the way?
how about the 2nd row captain seats, pwede din ba i fold frontward na all the way din?bka kasi may pindutan pa na di ko alam pa.. para san din pala ung sa likod ng captain seats na parang dalawang bilog?
ano pa ba mga surprises ng carnival? for ex recently ko lang na discover na ung captain seats eh pwede pala i rotate...hehehehe

August 6th, 2008 04:42 PM #2298check mo yung air intake tube kailangan naka pasok yan maigi dun sa turbo at naka clamp ng ayos kasi yung oil mist from PCV naiipon dyan kaya tumutulo...simple lang gawin yan..also check mo yung oil pan mo bka need na ng gasket.. same with valve cover
serpentine belt ang tawag sa belt na manipis pero matibay.. kaya serpentine kasi para yan snake na maraming bends sa mga pulleys unlike ng V-belt na uni directional lang.. papalitan mo na belt nyan sa akin kasi yung serpentine belt ko orig pa eh mukha lang sya buo pero manipis na pala..hindi kasi basta basta napuputol yan lalo na kung maganda mga tensioners mo.. kahit mukhang buo pa kapag 4 years na ang belt need na change
yung upuan sa 3rd row kung bench type yung mismo upuan ang matitiklop tapos pwede mo na slide yung buong upuan forward.. may swtich yan sa gilid..
yung reverse switch makikita mo sa driver side malapit sa ABS controller.. pero mahaba yung wire connection nyan nasa malapit dun sa shifter sa ilalim ng air filter assy

sir mintoy: I just checked mine and it does not do that. In fact as long as I do not turn the aircon even after the engine has been idling for a while it does not turn on right away. Medyo matagal kasi yata talaga maginit ang diesel engines natin.
I think they have rewired yours. I was being adviced to do the same but I just told them to keep it as original as possible. It was a lot easier if they rewired it but instead they had to replace the second pair of carbon brush.
