We are in the process of purchasing a second hand Carnival (Dec 2000) model.
it only has 50k millage from the first owner, everything works, paint still original and shiny, engine hums quietly and no black smoke when I rev the engine past 3k rpm aircon just needs some cleaning

Did a short test drive last Saturday and I was really surprised about the ride quality (plush and quiet). Engine still responsive and it's very relaxing to drive.

    please help.
    thanks to all!
As they say, "If it isn't broken, don't fix it."

Most of the time, all the Sedona needs is strict adherence to the 5,000-km PMS schedule, along with observance of the proper engine warm-up and cooldown procedures.

Timing belts should be replaced every 70,000-km. Fan belts every 40,000-km, along with engine coolant and other fluids.

One tip I can share: be careful when opening the sliding doors from the outside. The plastic handles have a nasty habit of breaking. When opening them from inside, it sometimes helps to push the door outward as you open it.

same tayo ng naging problema sir mikey177... nakakatakot kasi last month i noticed mine while i was negotiating a steep downhill turn at the time when suddenly the power steering conked out!!! buti na lang the brakes were still functioning... matigas kasi ulo ko eh, sinabihan na ako ng mechanic ko about three months ago na kailangan ko nang palitan yung "center main pulley" (yun ang tawag nya dun) kasi gastado na raw... well, hinde ako naniwala sa kanya so ayun, buhay ko sana ang kapalit...

moral of the story: maniniwala na ako sa mechaniko ko... hahahaha

BTW: it cost me around Php 5,500 for that darn pulley assembly... (crankshaft pulley ba iyon). Is it really priced like that or i was duped by the store selling the part?

if the crankshaft pulley suddenly disrupts or separated (rubber damper) in between, your power steering will be immediately lost since the pump will stop turning.. but thanks to our KIA carnival Safety design it is equipped with VACUUM Reserve tank (tank in the middle of your engine bay attached to the firewall) you will still be able to apply brakes with Vacuum power assist.. unlike in other cars which do not have this feature..

all most every car nowadays have crankshaft pulley with rubber dampers in between so every car can experience this problem...

When I replaced the same part it costs me 4,500 pesos for that piece, Original part since no replacement is available.. Labor is free since I personally replaced it!!

Kia Pangasinan provided the part for me for P4,018, and since yapoy also got his for only P4,500, then I'd have to say the store you bought it from sold it at a high price.
