Hi, i realiza you are one of the longest staying bloggers in this forum, i want toa ask you if we have discussed blinking "HOLD" lamp on the dashboard on our KIA Sedonas. I learned that it may be and inidication of a faulty transmission solenoid. It seems that in spite of the blinking, my tranny runs smoothly. Is there a way like cleaning contacts etc. you can recommend? or should i be alarmed by this blinking. It has been running for the past 2 years. Btw any experience changing A/T transmission filter? If so any recommendations where to have it done? Thanks. medyo marami na tong tanong ko.

Service was quick and straightforward and the people were friendly. Reasonable price and quick service. I will bring my other rides there in the future. Thank you benchph1!

Address is #44, 4th Avenue, QC or you can google Cruven and check out a branch near you.
No prob, Mehn. trusted ko na talaga ang cruven pagdating sa suspension repairs. kahit na sa steering. simple lang pala problema.

pareho tayong model nung dati naming carnival 2001 LS A/T, nabenta pa namin yun ng 300K.

I went to Fronte yesterday to purchase an oil filter and fuel filter. The oil filter cost 130 pesos and the fuel filter, 150 pesos. Both are Korean brands though not from Hyundai. I found this surprisingly cheap but wonder if they are the real thing or some cheap knock off. Anybody have any experience on this?

By the way, I had the oil pan resealed. To the mechanic's surprise, ang hirap tanggalin ng oil pan! It took him almost the whole day and he had to remove the axle just to get to the oil pan.

I would also like to know what tires you've been using for your rides. The Dunlop ECO 201's installed run out quickly. They don't have the Sport 601's (white side wall) anymore nor the Dunlop RV 501s. I opted for the Dunlop Sport LM703 but am not sure how good (or bad) these tires are. Would like to get feedback from any of you about other brands. Thanks.

When it comes to spare parts, im a sucker for OEM. especially when its for the engine.

engine supports, shocks, air filter siguro matitiis kong replacement. pero kung tulad niyan, No.

The best sakin ung RV501's sa carnival. phased out na nga lang siya. worst is the standard hankook mileage plus. lahat lumobo ang gilid. try mo rin goodyear fortera. thats the last tire i used before we sold the unit.

the magnetic clutch of my carnival fell off (not so sure how, pero there was already some squeak when we left, akala ko sa belt lang) during our trip from ilocos. any other shop that you guys recommend? TIA

    For Benchph1,

Mga sir, i posted a few days back regarding flashing "HOLD" indicator on my instrument panel. I had this for the past year or so, i have not sensed any change in the shifting pattern except that i have to switch EC/Power sa a/t mode if only to make sure which mode i am in. Some info from other brands says its a solenoid problem which i do not prescribed fully, only because the solenoids are doing the shifting and they are working. Unless, the solenoids give a warning signal as a feedback to the dashboard, i hope you can share your experiences on these, i have tried to search on the "search" tab but i cant find any previous posts close to my situation. Please share.

    Hi Nanotech,

I have the same problem like yours...blinking HOLD. I was advised to bring Kia to CASA for computer scan, unfortunately I have yet to find time to do it. Also, just like your unit I don't notice any shifting problem since it started. Btw, my solenoid was replaced but for a different reason not for the blinking HOLD problem. Mine is Kia Car LS2001 AT

Sa akin naman nka light yung check engine of KIA Sedona 2003. Lumabas cya pgkatapos e overhaul ang engine. According sa Casa related daw sa gasket na pinalitan nila after overhaul. Ayaw matanggal ang check engine. More than a year ng ganito pro so far ok nman ang takbo. Anyone there who has check engine also?

    Gud PM carnival peeps

Naka 1 yr na sa akin si arnie, how fast time flies. Checked the records when I had the solenoid replaced (coz of the blinking problem) after I got the unit, naka 18k ako in just a yr! gamit na gamit ko talaga yung van (my average km usage per wk is 450 to 480 kms, or 2k worth of diesel.

    Anyway I just want to share some of the most recent repairs I had;

radiator fan assembly - bought the entire thing (housing, fan & ,motor) at goodgear for Php 1300. . . surprisingly cheap considering that replacement surplus motor for my 2005 civic cost me 900 pesos.

return hose sa injector - 60 pesos each, readily available at goodgear. medyo mahirap hanapin yung mahaba (these are the braided/ sleeve type), wala sa goodgear. I had to ask the stores in pasay one by one until I cames across simplex shop otherwise I wont be able to use my van.

only thing bothering me at the moment are some minor rattling (but not necessarily kalampag) sound sa harap at likod (bushing I guess?).

Btw, has anyone experienced a grinding sound during start-up but also immediately disappears? Eto na kaya yung oil pump chain problem na common sa carnival? mine is 01 LS A/T btw.

Share ko lang pix ng ride ko . . Im so happy and proud of this baby!

Hi, I'm a newbie in this forum. Can anybody recommend a shop or mechanic that can clean my intake manifold? I was reading the earlier threads about the gunk build-up in the manifold and I did see it. Unfortunately, I just removed what I can reach and from what I can see, there is still a lot inside. BTW, I live in Pasig and owned a 2001 Carnival. Thanks.

    soluna17,

arnie rin ang pangalan nung dating carnival namin :D

rattling in the suspension could be just the strut bushing. what suspension parts have you replaced so far? Bout the grinding sound when you start it in the morning, if you can hear on the right side of the van (where the drive belts are) then it could be the dreaded oil pump chain problem.

    papaguz,

if im not mistaken, cruven does this. yes you heard me right the suspension shop. itanong mo na lang uli kay claro ung mayari kung gumagawa pa nga ba sila nito. Me branch na sila sa may floodway.

    benchph1,

thanks for your response. Will call Cruven on Monday. I hope that once the gunk is removed, the black smoke will be lessen. Is there anything else I can do to lessen the balck smoke? I plan to clean the IM, will have the exhaust cleaned, will use biodiesel next time.

It was my first time that I had to take out so many parts, my wife was making fun of me. Even that steel tubing connected to the IM had gunk inside. I just had to cut short in removing the connection to injectors to remove the whole IM because I noticed one of the small injector tubes had a leak on top of the injector. Dont want to make it worst. Just had the injectors calibrated last September. Any take on this? Had fun though.

Lastly, after I put everything back, I noticed that the "coil" was blinking on the right hand side of the instrument panel. Was it something I did?

    thanks again.

    tukayo pala ride natin

I had the suspension parts repaired by toti of zee when I got the unit last yr. I think scope of work done involves conversion of the 4 shocks and polymer injections on some joints, but no repairs I guess were made on the strut bushings (my dad was the one who brought the van there as I was busy with my work). Anyway, how many bushings are we talking about here and how much would it hurt my pocket? One thing I noticed about this is that the sound is less prominent if there are a lot of occupants in the van. What do you think?

The dreaded oil pump chain is scaring the hell out of me, how much does it normally cost repairing this?
