yup, saw its multimedia show ok sya, with a little modification d mu na sya makikilala as KIA. May diesel option pa sa other country. Pero if they say na 15 to 20km/L yun consumption nya sa Gas, mas ok sya.

May nakita me KIA AMANTI sa Sta Rosa, Yun mags, emblems, and yun logo lahat were replaced nun owner ng BENZ logo. hehehe... nakaktawa coz sa Grill too obvious na KIA sya coz namamaga yun design, not as sleek as Benz have. Sbi ko sa wife ko sa malayo yun bagong KIA, den nun malapit na kami Puro Benz Logo yun nakalagay! Tumawa 2loy me ng malakas, didn't know may occupants sa loob... hehehe...

Ok naman ang Amati. Don't know why you'd have to rebadge it as a Benz. Its a good car on its own.

And wala namang relasyon ang Benz at Kia. Buti sana kung Ssangyong Chairman yun.

actually.. ang pagkakaalam ko may connection ang kia sa MB...

Kia is partially or majority owned by Mitsu and Daimler Chrysler...or something to that effect.

Kia used to be related to Ford and Mazda. Now they are under Hyundai.

I recently saw the automatic version at Kia Commonwealth. The color is red which I believe somehow makes the car look bigger than its actual physical size. :-) Here are some pics..

This is the first running version of the Kia Picanto that I have seen. I was now able to see the digital trip meter.

Because of the high demand for this car, dealers have taken advantage..jacking up the prices at their pleasure.

And I agree with one poster here quoting his sales agent, priority goes to the person where they will profit the most..

Sad but true..I hope we consumers can do something to stop this.

    philander,

ang pagkakasabi sa kin, tranny lang daw ang kaibahan, wala ng iba.

    jr,

sa mahal ng gas ngayon, malamang yung iba maghintay talaga or magtyaga sa sobrang kapal na dealers na yan.

    *philander

No power windows nor central locking on this Picanto LX Automatic Transmission unit.
This will set you off a few thousand pesos more if you have this installed outside.. :-(

Neither is there a wheel cover..

The only amenities that came with the price tag were body color bumpers, side mirrors and door handles.. and the usual freebies of matting, seatcover etc..

One sales agent said that Korea can easily deliver even 1000 units of Picanto to the Philippines. And then Signet Mandaluyong frankly and politely told me cash transactions for Picanto are LAST priority. Pahirapan na, pero kinukuha pa rin.

To all you folks who have finally got your Picantos...

    CONGRATULATONS!

Have a safe and enjoyable motoring! See you around. I'm bored seeing and admiring plenty of Vioses and Cities on the road, hehehe. Picanto naman!:D

I got my orange Picanto M/T (2nd batch) from Kia yesterday and I thought I'd share my initial impressions of the vehicle:

    What's great:

    1) At first I thought the black bumpers of the 2nd batch were a letdown compared to the initial color-keyed batch of Picantos. I must say though that the black and orange combination is quite attractive in its own right, especially from the side (since the rubber strip is much more noticeable now that it is black).

    2) The interior is roomier than I initially thought. I am 5'6" in height, and even if I adjust the driver's seat to my height, I can easily fit in the left rear seat with adequate knee room (which is more than I can say for larger cars such the Toyota Vios or even the Kia Rio). Headroom is very good, even at the back. I've fit three people in the back seat, though shoulder room in such a case is quite limited due to the overall width of the vehicle.

    3) Engine power is more than adequate for highway driving and overtaking, and handling is great. Brakes are very strong. Just the right power assist is delivered to the steering, without leaving you feeling disconnected from the road.

    4) Build quality is very good; doors feel very solid and are not tinny-sounding when closed (unlike, say the old Honda City Type Z). It's a very quiet car. You can hardly hear the engine, even at highway speeds. No road or wind noise is transmitted to the cabin. The engine also transmits very little vibration.

    5) Instrumentation is complete, with digital clock, 2 digital LCD trip meters & odometer, tachometer. The center of the dash is angled towards the driver (kinda like a BMW). The aircon is quite strong, and its controls are laid out in a very logical fashion, with rotary knobs. There's even a heater thrown in.

    6) The stock radio-cassette player is pretty basic, but it has an unusual feature not found in most head units - it has an AUX in jack. When paired with a stereo mini patch cord, this car stereo will allow you to easily attach external audio units such as MP3 players, CD players and PDAs without need for cassette adapters or FM transmitters that degrade the quality of the output. There's even a shelf below the radio where you can put your audio player. I attached my iPod to the stereo and it sounds great!

    7) Three-point seatbelts are installed on the two outboard rear passenger seats. I didn't expect this in a car this affordable.

    What's not:

    1) There is no internal trunk release lever. The only way to open the trunk is from the outside, via the key. Bummer.

    2) The spare tire is a solid core (non-pressurized) donut, to be used temporarily in case of flats. While this obviates the need to check the pressure of the spare prior to embarking on long trips, I noticed that the spare tire is 14" in size, which doesn't match the 13" tires that come with the current crop of Picantos.

    3) The back seats don't have head rests and while foldable, they do not split 60-40.

    4) No freebies at all (no tint, matting, seat cover, etc.) from Kia Pasay.

Nevertheless, I would recommend that you purchase the car from Kia Pasay along Tramo, as they are very accommodating and do not insist that you get your insurance and financing from them in order to be prioritized. Look for Butch Raņada, the sales manager (tel. 852-1552).

More updates to come (e.g., gas consumption) after the break-in period.

    :D
