I saw the Kia Picanto earlier I was so dissapointed, the engine is so cramped, and the inside of the vehicle is so small. Not only that the sales person at Kia Motors pasong tamo halos di na ako pinapansin marami kasi akong tanong. Sana man lang he should satisfy my curiosity about the vehicle.
hyundai will be launching a crdi matrix. and when i called hyundai yesterday and asked if they will be bringing in their hyundai getz 1.5crdi soon ,they said they are working on it. just to give you guys an idea , the fuel economy of the getz crdi ranges from 20 to 30 kms per liter.....and its a diesel! pls call hyundai head office and ask them to bring in the getz!
talaga! tamang-tama intayin ko muna, nag mail nga ko sa hyundai last month regarding the getz, and they said na fina-finalyze na daw yung pagdadala ng getz dito, pero definitely dadalhin daw nila ang getz dito.
NICE CAR..!!
POWER PACKAGE: The 1.5-litre turbodiesel motor in the new Getz is capable of 60kW and 191Nm with a top speed of 165km/h.

Hyundai Getz Diesel Road Test
Sat, 24 Apr 2004
It’s pretty enough. Quite well designed. Very well received. But I’d better put my cards on the table straight away, this is not my type of car.
Now I’m going to heap praise on it from the point of view of the sort of people I think it will appeal to.
Even though it lacks fashionable style, it is a good looking little car. It’s well packaged too, with excellent space utilisation that crams a quart into a pint pot.
The front is roomy. The seats adjust properly. The steering wheel goes up and down. Everything is within easy reach. You just have to get used to the South Korean positioning of the indicator switch to the right of the steering wheel.
Things are pretty good in the back seat, too. It’s a 2 + 1 back seat rather than a 3, even though there are three proper three- point seatbelts. But legroom is okay. There’s a handbag hook on the back of the passenger seat. And the rear backrests recline, making a huge difference to rear seat comfort on a long run.
Then we come to the trunk, which is so deep it looks like a lift-shaft. The floor is such a distance down you wonder what Hyundai has done for an emergency wheel. But lift the carpet and you find a full-sized one. The fuel tank is tucked safely away under the rear seats. And the seats themselves tumble-fold, leaving a flat floor for a small dog to romp around on (when the car isn’t moving, of course).
All plus points so far. But this is the diesel version and as soon as you turn the key Bob the Builder and his mate start shaking buckets of nails under the bonnet. It’s very, very noisy, so you try to turn the radio up to absorb the din and find it’s a cheapo DIN fit single CD jobbie with difficult to deciper buttons and a removable front three times as big as the average mobile phone. So if it’s removed it gets left in the car, which is pointless. Also, there’s no aircon or sunroof on the GSI.
And the interior stinks. I mean literally stinks. Must be the plastics, but the pong is awful. Not like something crawled in there and died. Just a really revolting smell that nobbles your nostrils whenever you enter the car.
Sorry, I had to have a go at something.
Get going and, like an advanced driver, you may not want to shift up out of 3rd in a 30 limit. The engine is okay for a mere 1.5 diesel, but doesn’t have much to offer under 2,000rpm. Don’t worry about the slow 0-60 figure, though, because once you find where the power is you can get a move on.
Out on the open road you can trundle along reasonably rapidly at between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm, which gives you a speed range from around 55mph to around 85. And, since that’s where it’s happiest, you at least have a bit of grunt where you need it on the motorway.
Come to a corner and it’s not all panic stations. The power steering is a sensible compromise between lightness and feel and, while the car is not set up to grip like a go kart, it handles and holds the road quite well. Certainly far beyond the expectations of the average pensioner.
And that’s really where the car is at. Its appeal is to sensible, older people, long past the age when style is all important, who want nothing more than a sensibly priced, comfortable, practical, economical car that offers them all they need and won’t go wrong.
Which is where Hyundai comes up with its clincher: not a three year warranty like everyone else’s, but a full five year warranty. Making it a car that will probably outlast many of its owners.
Getz is a good-looking car and I find Honest John's review highly entertaining, hehehe. But will not the entry of the Getz be bad for the other Hyundai's hatchback, Matrix? From behind, Getz looks like a Matrix clone.
By the way, whoever owns that brand new silver Picanto (no plate number yet) with black bumpers I saw in Bocaue yesterday... Nice car, man! Pictures don't do it justice. Mas maganda pala pag makita sa personal ang black bumpered Picanto. Parang maliit na Honda CRV.

Hello Guys,
I saw the official price of the new picanto (2nd batch)
picanto M/T 325,000.00
Picanto A/T 375,000.00
cost of bumper paint job P5K
tnx
rodski
Finally seeing a few picantos on the road. They're definitely attractive on the move, rimcovers or not.
The Getz won't cut into the Matrix much, but it'll appeal to customers who won't go for the Matrix... It's smaller, and would definitely compete with the Picanto and Jazz at sizepoint, and hopefully at the picanto's price.
Thing is, there is no word yet if it is coming here. It's been out for quite a while in our neighboring countries.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
who's the best among the dealers of picanto? parang ang mahal ng insurance bigla. they are quoting me 22k for insurance.

Kia Pasay (along Tramo St.) didn't force me to get financing and insurance from them (which is my biggest turn-off when other dealers such as Signet require you to get the unit from them). The insurance premium I paid on my unit (M/T) was less than P12k.

I think 12th insurance premium for Picanto sounds like a good deal. During the time I got my unit there were two kinds of in-house insurance:
1) P17th BUT buyer pays the P4th LTO reg
2) P21th BUT you got "free" LTO reg
Isn't that nice? Hahahaha. Pareho din naman na P21th yung magagastos (17+ 4 = 21). So if your insurance costs around P21-22th BUT you get free LTO registration, tingin ko ok pa rin kasi kahit yung nauna (first 70 buyers) ganun din ang in-house insurance "style."
Even if you pay the LTO registration but your insurance (in-house or otherwise) is only around P12th, good deal!
If the Getz should cost between 400th and 500th it will have a strong advantage against tougher competitors (Vios, City and Jazz.) But if it is priced JUST LIKE those three (P560th- P670th), well, good luck Hyundai!
If it is priced just like the Picanto (P325th- P375th) with all the featured amenities, I'd say, BRAVO! Have you lost your minds?eheheh![]()

Hi Bon,
Can I get the number for Kia Pasay? I'm trying to help my girlfriend get a Picanto.
-------------------------------------------
Anyone get the A/T yet? Ok din ba ang fuel consumption?
Kia E. Rod has a "promo" that for about P43,000 allows you to get accessories like foglamps, body colored bumpers, etc and you'll get your car faster daw... no more waiting in line...
Parang hindi sulit kung 5k lang ang pa-body color. Wala naman sigurong 10k ang foglamps!
