Black lang din yun nakita ko na may brown interior. Nothing special for me yun limited.

what dealer did you saw this? what the body color?

I don't know the advantage of ECO mode in the Rio. It's always ON when I'm driving but the fuel consumption is even worst than the Chevy Optra 1.6 of my family.

    FC REPORT:

    1st Fill:
    - Fuel Low warning light triggered when fuel left is 52km (distance to empty on trip computer)
    - Filled up 9.2L (P500) unleaded: distance to empty = 154km
    - Road and traffic condition = mix city & highway, light to moderate traffic
    - Driving style, speed: light footed, 70KM max. speed (highway)
    - distance traveled on next fuel low warning light (same fuel left at 52km distance to empty) = 42km
    - Trip computer Fuel Economy = 15.4L/100km or 6.5km/L
    - Actual FC (manual computation): 42km/9.2L = 4.56km/L

    2nd Fill:
    - Fuel Low warning light triggered when fuel left is 52km (distance to empty on trip computer)
    - Filled up 9.2L (P500) unleaded: distance to empty = 154km
    - Road and traffic condition = CITY only, NO traffic (Sunday night on FC test run)
    - Driving style, speed: light footed, 20-60km/hr (stops on red traffic lights and slow down on intersections)
    - Distance traveled on next fuel low warning light (same fuel left at 52km distance to empty) = 47km
    - Trip computer Fuel Economy = 13.8L/100km or 7.2km/L
    - Actual FC (manual computation): 47km/9.2L = 5.10km/L

    3rd Fill: (full tank)
    - Fuel Low warning light triggered when fuel left is 52km (distance to empty on trip computer)
    - Full tank at 35L (P1,900): distance to empty = 576km
    - Road and traffic condition = CITY only, light to moderate with about 10% heavy
    - Driving style, speed: light footed, variable
    - Fuel gauge reading as of today: 1/4 level, 145 km distance to empty (trip computer)
    - Trip computer Fuel Economy = 16.2L/100km or 6.17km/L
    - Actual kilometers reading since reset = 145kms
    - Actual FC (manual computation) = not available yet, waiting for fuel low warning light to go off.
    - My Prediction: around 6km/L on trip computer and actual FC will be around 4.5km/L if I based it on my 1st fill-up yield.

This is only based on my recollection and actual observation. Fuel economy may improved after break-in of 1,000 kms (1st PMS), which I seriously hope so. I haven't tried driving on pure highway (out of town) or driven the car aggressively (zoom-zoom). Also, I haven't tried driving in sport mode as I am driving and testing the unit on city for fc.

Granted the actual fuel consumption (manual computation) improves by 1-2 Liters, but still at 6.5km/L this Rio hatchback is looking more likely to be fuel guzzler for it's size, weight, classification/category and displacement. The much bigger, heavier and more powerful Altis 1.6 has better fc, ask any taxi drivers and the answer is always around 10Km/L City. I drove the Honda Fit 1.5 A/T & City (2011) 1.5 A/T, both has an average of 9.8L/100km City FC.

I cancelled the Bank P.O. for the 2012 Chevy Orlando for this after being convinced by the wife that this Rio is a practical choice for our family of 5 (8,11 & 18 yr old children), and fuel efficient nga daw sabi Kia. The looks, features, standard equipment and the prospect of low fuel economy are the things I took serious consideration.

I informed Kia salesman on my poor FC and he's advising me to give them 2 days to assess and check the unit once it reached 1,000 kms for its 1st PMS. They will perform some tests daw and mentioned plugging in a 1 liter fuel container direct to the engine to test manually the fc. I trust Kia will do it's job to ascertain the cause of the irregular and "not normal" fc on my Rio.

Although it's premature to say if this Rio is "malakas sa gas" at this time, one thing this Rio reminds me of at this time is the Land Cruiser I have back in college that has a 6-cylinder 2F gas engine with an average FC of 4km/L, but the fuel then costs around P8.00/L!

I'll be posting soon my FC on the 3rd fill-up as mentioned above.

Wow... 4km/L ! Parang yung sa isang Accent AT lang, 4-5km/L din. Lakas.

Hope it does improve, though. Goodluck!

try to compute using full tank again sir and not just partial fill up, at least here you don't bother with distance to empty and filled with the number of liters you have used up from your last fill up.

if you are really concerned with your FC, get an app for this like acar for android (am using this one for a 2007 Ford Focus 1.6L MT). i have the records since we bought it back in 07, ave km/L=10.08 and have spent PHP 520,983.33 for fuel alone
daily driver, naka 109K kms na

my wife's using this same app on her spark, pero 3 records lang din at 10.8km/li ang takbo - 1.0L A/T. normally nga lang dapat full tank lagi pag karga namin (automatic) at hindi sagad. pede rin naman partial fill ups, just make sure you record every fill up and tag it as partial.

When the warning light shows up, pa-gas ka. Full tank, automatic. Reset trip meter to zero then use the car normally. Forget the distance to km, ave fuel consumption etc., when the light shows up again, pa-gas ka ulit. Full tank, automatic. Look at your trip meter, divide what you see there by the number of liters fueled up. That should be your average fuel consumption. If it shows less than 8km/L the least, you're eating too much gas. If it's around 9, should be reasonable especially if you travel at noon and encounter traffic.

Tama magfulltank ka then compute. Mahirap yun ganyan computation

Pero malakas nga sa gas kung ganyan ang nakukuha mo.

Nasan ba yun ibang owners lalo na ng HB? How's your mileage?

    * cyplanr & renzo_d10: Thanks for the reply and advice, I'll keep that in mind.

I always reset the trip computer every time I fueled. I used the "partial" fill-up of P500 on the two occasions of the low fuel warning lights just to get the quick fc on short runs on both normal city traffic and NO traffic. I quoted both the trip computer readings and manual computations for comparison and early assessment purposes. I'm currently on my 1st full tank and I'll report soon my fc report on both trip computer and manual computation.

I'm not optimistic of good fc result because right now the fuel gauge is at 1/4 and kilometers traveled is only 145kms palang on pure city driving.

For me, a full tank may not be necessary to get the average fc if the city road I am using is free from traffic like I it was on a Sunday evening drive that I did, or driving on an expressway where constant and predictable driving speed are present. If getting the average fc in a normal/regular city traffic on your area in various road conditions (including gradient) is of the interest then having a full tank is required because of it's unpredictability.

In the old days we actually used 1 liter coke bottle plugged it direct to the fuel line (on the "in" nipple of the fuel filter) and run the vehicle on both highway and city (normal traffic) to get the exact fc. That's how I got the land cruiser, corolla, cargo trucks and some assembled jeepy fc back then. Nakakatuwa, using your palm to choke the carburetor after the fuel run out and bring it to life again with a new fuel. Diesels have manual pumps to eject the air from the fuel line.

I was surprised and amused when Kia salesman informed me kaninang hapon that they will use the same method (1L bottle) to test and determine my Rio actual fc!

thank you cyberian for sharing your experience with the hb. imo it's hard to believe that you get as low as 4km/l because some owners of both sedan and hb are getting better results. siguro one of the reason why others are getting good fc is because they are wearing 15"s. 17's i think is best for 1.6 GDI

sir, ilan pala usually ang sakay? if the car is always full, this might be one of the reason why you get poor fc.

try not to let your gas pass half and try to compute your fc from the suggestions above baka sakali magimprove. otherwise, there must be a problem with the engine or computer.

please do update us and i hope that's not always the case.
