Subukan mo muna mga 95 ron tas pag hindi nawala, claim ka na ng warranty.
Try to stick to one tye of fuel kasi tingin ko better pag ganun sa engine. Ako so far caltex gold lang gamit, 400+ odo wala pang knock at sana hindi naman magkaroon.

True after full tank is still the best method for computing fc. So far my observation, malakas sa gas rio hb ko pag city dring with stop and go traffic condition for a 1.4 engine

I've checked almost all sedan threads here, wala na pala nakaka-over sa 10km/liter all city ngaun, mz2, spark, cruze, civic, city, jazz now the Korean cars Tsk Tsk.
I've read reviews of the Kia Rio HB in international forums particularly in Europe. owners brag how efficient their Kia rio's are. So yun mga woes nyo talagang ang culprit eh dirty mix ng gasoline dito satin .. It's affecting all cars with the low FCs, yun nga LNG mas malas Hyundai/ Kia may engine knock pa

June 26th, 2012 06:09 PM #816Just 45 minutes ago I just heard my first engine "knocking" sound. It happened first after slowing down on a corner then immediately applied gas (pedal halfway) but the transmission (in auto mode) is late to engaged a lower gear kaya na stress yong engine at umingay yong overhead camshafts. It sounded exactly like a diesel engine but the sound is finer and rapid not slow and loud like in a conventional diesel on idling. I just released the accelerator a bit to minimize the fuel supply and the engine smother out with no more sound on the valves & springs. I also noticed this again 3 times when accelerating quickly after a bend and overtaking. No similar sound so far on idling.
The fuel I used is Shell's V-Power Nitro+, my 3rd full tank and it's 60% consumed. I never experienced or noticed this on my two previous full tanks of PETRON XCS. I also noticed today that going uphill ay mas mabagal at hirap mag accelerate.
I was actually surprised hearing the noise because the car is an A/T and not manual, a problem which is apparently common to taxi cabs like the Nissan LEC series. Taxi drivers has a habit of engaging a gear too early when accelerating or late when decelerating resulting to a lot of overhead camshaft noises.
Made me think to stick to the XCS on my 4th full tank any day from now.

June 26th, 2012 06:15 PM #817diba variable valve timing na yan?? normal lang yan... baka yung exhaust shielding yung nadinig nyo.. minsan tunog knocking yan pag nag vibrate..

maybe because shell nitro+ is only 93 RON, XCS is 95.
This is the reason i stay away from using shell's premium gasoline kasi 93RON lang. kung gusto mo shell dapat yun nitro racing which is 97 RON pero masyado ng mahal. kaya lagi ko gamit caltex GOLD (95 RON) which is the advisable rating from our engine

June 26th, 2012 07:24 PM #819Trip computer serves best as a quick reference and monitor your present fc on the fly. If you got the manual computation readings of your fc and compare it with your corresponding Trip Computer readings, you will know the slight avg discrepancy and so the moment you glanced again on your trip computer while driving, you can make mental computation on your "actual" fc. It can also weed out variables such as traffics if the corresponding avg speed is provided with the fc figures of others posted here. Though not appropriate to use on getting avg fc on full tank because the avg speed resets the next day. Trip computer is not useless after all, at least for me.
Regarding filling up, I usually wait for the first Low Fuel yellow light. The trip computer's distance to empty will display "-------" if you go below 48km. Pump stop on first click.
Regarding A/T, I usually engaged it to N on longer wait above 5 seconds on traffics. My habit since driving the Starex, my first A/T. In my observation malakas sa gas on idle and sa stop n go compared to the other vehicles (larger body/bigger engine displacement) I had the pleasure of driving. Matipid naman sa highway although limited short runs palang from time to time ako ngayon.
If fc is not too much of a concern, the new Rio is the best bang for the buck (subjective): just released & updated design (matagal pa replacement), bigger size (sedan comparable to the higher category compact vehicles) and lots of standard features/accessories. For performance and handling, I think the Fiesta is better.
Dhil maraming variables ang fc computations, I suggest you test drive a Rio and request the unit to have it full tank. ipasyal mo if possible close to your usual road traffic condition and then after accumulating enough kilometers, say minimum of 20kms, full tank it again and compute the fc para meron ka idea ano approx fc. Mazda is willing to have me test drive their new Mazda3 for performance and fc purposes but busy pa ako at the moment.

If you use Petron Blaze which is 100 RON. will it stop the knocking sound? Will it make the rio more fuel efficient in terms of KM/L (wag na natin isama yung price variable). Tama ba na ang Kia rio and hyundai accent ECU's are tuned to EURO4 ? So you need to use EURO4 compliant gas.
lol nobody said it was a girl's car. He's referring to the movie Pretty Woman. Richard Geere drove...
