    Guys, kamusta Rio nyo? fc? I've been using Shell V-Power Racing (fairview commonwealth station )since nung time na nirequire ako ng SA to use higher octane and since then wala na akong naririnig na engine knock until napadaan ako sa Shell South Triangle sa EDSA kasi mababa ang price nung gas nila compared sa iba. Nagpafillup ako ng Shell V-Power and then a couple of minutes while driving narining ko nanaman yung engine knock. Hay frustrating na ito. So back to experimenting with fuels ulit ako.

    Bumalik ako Petron Blaze 100 (Fairview Regalado), nagpakarga ng 500 Pesos, and then traveled Fairview to BGC Taguig. Rush hour (7am - 9 am) commonwealth pa lang traffic na. Time traveled is 2 hours papunta, another 2 hours pabalik so total 4 hours with 70% traffic and when I say traffic, around 15km/h and speed ko, ave fuel consumption is 12-13L/100 km or 7-8 km/l. \
    Total Distance = 75 km.

    The next day, sibukan ko naman yung XCS (500 pesos) with same conditions. A little same result BUT I needed to step on the gas more and then mas maiksi yung kilometers ko compared to Blaze. May engine knock din sa XCS occasionally.

    Meron din akong napansin using Petron, naaamoy ko yung singaw nung gas sa fuel lid lalo na pag mainit and byahe at araw.

    Sinubukan ko naman yung Sea oil extreme with 97 RON. May engine knock pa rin pero compared sa Petron Blaze and XCS, mas mahaba yung mileage ko. magandan na sa ito kasi mura na, mahaba ang inaabot kaso may engine knock pa kahit 97 RON na.

    Dahil sumasabak ako sa traffic, Shell nalang fuel but this time yung Fuel Save ginamit ko. Same mileage with XCS, pero mas maganda yung takbo and andar ng makina. Satisfied na ako sana sa Fuel Save kaso may engine knock pa rin pero bihira na. Tapos, hindi ko na rin naaamoy yung singaw. Okay na ako sa Fuel Save sabi naman ng SA ko, hindi naman daw nakakadamage yung Engine knock na naririnig ko.

    Habol ko talaga ngayon, malower yung gas cost ko kaya kahit may engine knock okay na rin hindi naman parati and unlike using the above fuels, mas satisfied ako sa Fuel Save. Sa ngayon, medyo maganda yung fuel consumption ko 10-12 km/l medyo hindi na ako ganun na tratraffic kasi mga 9am na ako umaalis.
    Anyway, if ever gagawin ko nalang weekend gas yung V-Power Nitro +Racing kasi walang traffic .

    Pero I will do a last experiment , susubukan ko yung Caltex Gold 95 RON kasi recommended pla ng Kia yung Techron additive. Try ko ulit 500 pesos and tignan ko yung mileage. Nung huling try ko kasi may engine knock sa Caltex Kamias. Try ko dito sa Caltex Fairview baka maganda yung quality nila.

    May initiative na pla yung Petron and Shell to make their gas fuel Euro 4 grade. Kaso sa 2016 pa.

    Wala naman akong problem kay Rio, sabagay, ang deciding factor ko dito ay yung design and features, 3rd lang yung fuel but I never expected na may maririning akong engine knock. Proud owner pa rin ako. Di ko lang agad na research about the gamma engine and the fuel standard in the Philippines. Be positive na masosolutionan ni Kia itong fuel issues nila. Malapit na rin naman akong mga pa PMS 15K km baka Dec or early Jan. so hopefully makausap ko yung manager sa Pasay about our concerns.

    Pag long driving naman like Manila to tagaytay, contento na ko sa reading ko 16 km/l tapos sarap pa driven. May mga hataw na yun.

May engine knock pa rin pero compared sa Petron Blaze and XCS, mas mahaba yung mileage ko. magandan na sa ito kasi mura na, mahaba ang inaabot kaso may engine knock pa kahit 97 RON na.     Overall observation ko sa fc ko with city driving (often I'm in medium to heavy traffic mga less than 15 km/h). 11-12 l/ 100km which is 8-9 km/l. Babad na sa traffic yun. Pag long driving naman like Manila to tagaytay, I'm contented with my fc based sa cluster which is 16 km/l tapos sarap pa idrive. May mga hataw na yun.

May mga hataw na yun.[Sobrang tahimik ang 2012 Rio 1.4 M/T ko, minsan akala ko namatay ang makina start ko uli ang ignition key. I have never encountered engine knock issue. I use only shell fuels. Sa fuel save sobrang smooth sa engine but not as much spirited compared to V-power. I can go 8.5liters/100kms or 11.76kms/liter on city driving and 16 to 18 kms/liter. It all depend on your driving habit shift immediately to high gear, look at the Multi Information display on real time fuel consumption if it reads above 10L/100kms ease up the accelerator or change to high gear agad. Switch off the AC button during ascends there may still enough cool from blower until your next descend.


    My Kia Casa charge me 1600 pesos on Kia engine oil + kia oil filter + 28 point check-up ok na ba to ?]

    guys tanung ko lang. last week ang first pms ko. kanina nacurious lang ako, chineck ko yung engine oil. i was surprised kasi sobrang langis yung inilagay nila. halos more than one inch yung sobra sa Full. dapat ko bang bawasan ito or talagang istilo ito ng mga casa para makasira ng sasakyan. meron kaming dalawang vans and ang sinabi sami ng mekaniko dapat huwag lalagpas sa F. eto sobra sobra.

    park ur car sa flat ground then check oil level while engine running, dapat between full & Low ang oil level. Kung sobra bawasan mo...

    diba dapat..nakapatay ang makina and then wait a few minutes before checking fluid level to see if correct.

    pag ganyan, ang oil level ay dapat about full sa dipstick. pag umaandar dapat kalahati basta di abot ng full... sa automatic transmission ATF yes ganyan ang procedure but not with the engine crankcase oil..

    thanks sa mga nagreply. i just called the sa that assisted me sa kia metro east today. sinabi ko sa kanya nasa manual dapat di lalagpas ng full. sa sportivo nga namin between lang siya ng una at pangalawang guhit. i was surprised kung bakit sinabi niya na ok lang daw yun. confused talaga ako. sabi din kasi ng dati namin driver na bawal daw yung sobrang langis.

    sir check mo ung manual kung ilan ung capacity ng engine mo and ilan ung ginamit at binayaran mo. kapag di nagtugma (meaning mas madami ung nilagay compared sa nakalagay sa manual), i suggest you file a complaint against your SA. pinerahan ka na, sisirain pa kotse mo

    Nakaka badtrip talaga tong Kia Rio HB....

    Oct. 8 = 26.8 liters of Petron Blaze, travelled 183.5km = 6.85 km/liter

    Oct. 13 = 30 liters of Petron Blaze, travelled 209.7km = 6.99 km/liter

    Oct. 19 = 18.18 liters of Petron Unleaded, travelled 109.7km = 6.03 km/liter

    Oct. 22 = 18.18 liters of Shell Unleaded... will report 3 days from now....

    Yung 6.03 km / liter malamang may daya pa yung gas station. Wag kayo magpakarga ng gas along Aurora! (Petron near Dunkin Donut)

    swerte mo naman sir kaw lang ata pinagpala matipid ang rio HB...yun iba rito kulang nalang mag change engine na para tumipid FC

    di naman sir. nasanay lang ako umapak ng magaan. Nung una kong kuha, napansin ko nga malakas sa gas, naalala ko nun ang gas ko petron extra unleaded, apak ako ng apak. Nung sinabi ng SA ko na magchange ng premium gas, which is Shell V-Power 97 RON, ayun, bumagay sa style ko - konting apak lang, andar agad. di ba nag experiment, ako sa ibat ibang gas, bumabalik talaga ako sa Shell V Power.
    May mga iba pa akong ginagawa:
    Kung minsan, kapag matagal yung stop light, pinapatay ko makina. (syempre pag wala akong sakay na iba).
    Hataw lang ako kapag maluwag ang kalye, lalo na pag punta ko tagaytay, dun nag eenjoy ang takbo ni rio, sa SLEX pa lang hataw na!

    Napansin ko, pag matagal ka talagang naka hinto, mabilis tumaas yung gas. Ganun din naman daw sa iba.

    May balita ba tayo sa ECU upgrade? May nakapag upgrade na kaya? Hindi na ako binalikan SA ko regarding sa ECU. Pero dapat talaga hindi namimili ng gas ang rio.

    Sir, ask ko lng kung 15K first PMS ng Kia Rio Hb? Sbi kasi sa akin ng tga KIA na 7,500km daw? Nacheck ko dn yung Manual 7,500Km kpg worst condition. Pero kung normal condition nsa 15K.

    Sa fc ko nmn sir, never png bumaba sa 7km so far. Khit mapasabak sa mttraffic area sa Manila. Pnkamababa ko so far ay 7.99km/L. Laging manual computation gngwa ko sir at every week ko kncompute. ang lagi kong fuel na pnpkarga ay CALTEX Gold. Ncheck ko sa net yung advantage ng may TECHRON. Mgnda pla sa fuel injection type engine. Nililinis mismo yung engine. Pnprevent yung mga deposits pati yung Knocking ng engine.

    Correction sir, I mean 2nd PMS ko na for 15K.

    Narinig ko na naman yung engine knock nung natraffic ako sa taguig kahapon with Shell V Power. Napansin ko magtumagal sya sa idling, tapos panay dahandahan apak mo sa gas, lumalabas sya. Today, nag pagas ako ng Caltex Gold. Ayun, naririnig ko yung engine knock on some ocassions.
    Anu kaya yun? galing kaya talaga sa makina yun? Napansin ko rin yung metal cover ng exhaust manifold gumagalaw. Sinilip ko yung exhaust manifold ng accent ng kaibigan ko since same engine naman sila, yung sa kanya hindi gumagalaw. Balak ko check sa gas station para ma lift and ma check ko.

    Guys another observation. Umuulan ngayon so malamig ang weather and ang reading ng temp ko is 24 Celsius. Napansin ko hindi lumalabas yung engine knock. Tinawag ko agad sa SA, sabi nya naka advance daw yung timing pag malamig kaya marami fuel pero pag mainint yung panahon, konti lang.

    Pag mainit yung weather, reading ko nasa 30-33 celsius. Napapansin ko nga yung engine knock lumalabas occasionally.

    sounds like your ignition timing is off.. have it checked. and checking requires the use of electronic gadgets, not SA mouth..

    Thanks dr, d will add this item to be checked in my 2nd PMS for 15K. But from what I understand, when rio detects a low temp, timing will advance which means more fuel but when temp is high, less fuel. Similar to engine knock sensor function, when it detects a knock, timing will retard.
