Aircon's working perfectly now. Had it done at a shop called "Climate" along P.Tuason in Cubao. They replaced the parts with the same brand (which apparently, is a bit hard to find outside of the casa) and I'm finally enjoying good cooling inside my car.
As for the fuel gauge, I ran around 307 kms and the fuel gauge was a little over the halfway mark. I gassed up again and amazingly, it was back to full tank after getting around 18 liters of diesel. That comes out to around 16.5kms/liter!!
But now, the fuel gauge is back to normal. Still observing it. Hopefully, it was just a fluke.

re: fuel gauge, ganyan din sa akin, mga 70-80km na natatakbo ko bago gumalaw ng konti yung needle from full tank and a little over the half mark for more than 300km na natakbo though mt yung sa akin.
baka nag lessen yung fc nung mawala yung ac, hehehe
last april 2013 bumigay na rin ac compressor (after 5years). bought brand new compressor (OEM-doowon brand) at Hyukizu Parts Banawe worth P18k, expansion valve P850 and drier P180. Paid installation cost worth P2440 * UN. Ave petron station. yung ac mechanic doon galing Kia congressional.

May wife says she also heared some noise in front of the car while driving..Something new daw sa pandinig niya,, baka compressor narin yon.. May 5 years narin si carens namin sa August...
Have replaced na nga pala ang turbo charger by our selves lang. umabot ng 40K lahat...
Have cleaned narin the EGR by casa..
Pero now mag napapansin akong di rin maganda sa carens ko.. Pag nag accelerate ka in 2nd gear.. may part na parang bigla nalang nawawala ang acceleration nya in a split of a second.. maraming beses na ganyan.. Yung marang umuuga uga,,na putol putol ang hatak.. Lalong lalo kung wang aircon, ramdam na ramdam ko ang pa putol putol na hatak nya..Kaya pag nag accelerate ako padahan dahan lang...Kahit na after na linis ang EGR ganoon parin siya.. It was also like this even before we replaced the turbo.. I will bring it back to Iloilo Kia pag uwi ko for them to check again..
May kalabog narin akong naririnig sa ilalim,, mas mararambaman mo sya pag na tuturn ka lalo pag ikaw ang driver..Parang connected sya sa wheel..Not all the time ha,, madalas lang saka hindi tuloy tuloy.. paisa isalang ang tunog, yung parang may pumalo ng partilyo ng isang beses lang..na raramdaman ko lang yan sa turning ha,, ever from park tapos tatakbo kana syempre you turn, yun doon ko sya minsan o madalas na nararamdaman..

Sir tama po yan..buong assembly ang papalitan dahil di puwedeng mabaklas yung bearing from main ac assembly. Yung pinalitan sa carens ko yung main tensioner bearing. Eto yung nag hihigpit ng serpentine belt.
Mag fa five years na rin si carens ko this june 28.
Right now, mukhang bumalik yung ingay sa engine bay. Binalik ko sa casa 2 days ko iniwan dun pero di nila mahanap ngayon yung cause. Yung parang may low frequency grinding sound (parang tunog ng sirang bearing) tuwing nagmemenor na ako lalong lalo na pag half pressed yung clutch. Hindi nman ito AC bearing kasi naririnig ko ito kahit naka off ang ac. Pero mas malakas ang tunog pag naka on ang AC.
Possible causes daw according to casa:
1. Yung rubber ng pulley sa makina pudpod na. Nasira ulit kasi yung bagong palit na tensioner bearing.
2. Dual mass flywheel baka need na rin palitan
3. Clutch release bearing (btw, bagong palit lang ito last year)
Still wait and see muna... There's a posibility na maputol yung serpentine belt while on the road dahil dito pero inassure naman ako na matibay pa naman ang belt dahil bago pa siya.
sir, ok pa po ba yung air filter mo? also try the italian tune up, nawala yung hesitation sa carens ko nung ginawa ko yan every week, low speed high rpm 3k rpm to 3.5k rpm, pwede rin at idle. check mo na rin if mausok na sya at high rev, pero since kalilinis lang nung egr mo dapat hindi.
re: sa steering wheel na may parang kalabog, may naririnig din ako pero hindi naman kalabog, nararamdaman ko parang goma na nag ti twist/papitik pitik, hindi ko pa rin napapa check pero may nabasa ako isang member dito sabi sa rack and pinion adjuster daw, search mo na lang....
Mondot, subukan mong i-long drive at least once a month ang Carens mo at itakbo ng at least 120 (wag ka lang papahuli) for at least 20 minutes. Sa ganitong paraan lang malilinis ang exhaust manifold mo ng oil sludge. Di kasi nakakatakbo ng husto ang mga sasakyan natin dahil ma-trapik. Ako 120,611 kms na ang diesel-Carens ko at minsan lang ako nagkaroon ng hesitation. Pero nung mabasa ko sa internet ang ginagawa ng iba (overseas) para masunog ang carbon sa exhaust manifold nila, e ganun din ang ginawa ko. So far wala akong problema sa makina ko.
Yung carbon-buildup e dahil sa mahinang klaseng diesel natin dito at hindi Euro-compliant (nag assume ako na diesel ang Carens mo, kasi karaniwan e diesel lang ang may ganitong problema). Ang karaniwang dahilan nito ay too much engine-idling o kaya e sobrang trapik sa araw-araw na pag-gamit. Yung sa akin e itinatakbo ko ng once a month from Manila-Clark and back.
Kung wala ka namang time o nasa ilang na lugar ka, subukan mo ang "italian tune-up", pero mas mabisa ang itakbo mo ng matulin yan at tanggal pati tutule ng makina mo.
Eto ang status update ng Carens ko, CRDI EX, 120,611 kms and still going strong:
Yung ingay sa front end ng makina ko e left-wheel bearing pala at pinalitan, saka yung kalabog sa front end na mararamdaman mo din sa steering wheel e maluwag na mcpherson strut bolt lang pala na dapat e kasama sa periodic maintenance natin sa Casa, pero malamang e hindi ginagawa ng mga Kia techs. Paano ba ito? Hinihigpitan yung nut na humahawak sa front shocks natin na nasa ibabaw lang ng fender. Kailangan itong higpitan ng 65 ft/lb everytime na meron tayong maintenance. Kung tapos na ang warranty e puwedeng kayo na lang ang maghigpit gamit ang torque wrench o kaya e gamitin nyo ang close-end wrench at gamit ang buong kamay e higpitan ito hanggang sa mahihigpitan nyo (huwag pilitin ng husto). Tapos pinalitan yung "linkage-stabilizer". Pagkatapos nito e ayos na ang lahat.
Yung diesel-fuel filter ko e pinapalitan ko sa Banawe at P1,300 lahat pati na labor. Ang laki pala ng part na ito kaya pala mahal. Pero mas mahal sa casa kasi P3000 plus ang papalit nito.
Yung dinala ko sa casa na oil-leak e hindi rin nagawa ng husto kasi nawawalan pa rin ako ng langis. Kaya ibabalik ko sa kanila ito. Meron na bang naka-experience nito? Yun bang nawawala ang langis (di naman nasusunog), at wala namang langis sa garage-floor. Nawawalan ako ng mga 2 liters every 5000 km..sobra sobra ito.
For me, gumanda start and drive when I replaced my fuel filter. Diesel din sa akin at a/t.
Sir, In my first replacement of the fuel filter, i had it done outside casa since i ddnt buy the item from them. The problem was that it had a leak when a mechanic checked it. I won't advise having it replaced by someone who havent had an experience when it comes to the carens. Nasa back portion kasi ung filter.
Im about to replace mine too and ill have it done together with my egr clean up and pms.
While mine cost more than this, I'm glad that I purchased the parts and had it installed in the same shop. About a week after I had the compressor, condenser and expansion valve installed, the aircon conked out again. When i returned it to the shop, apparently the magnetic coil (or whatnot) of the compressor burnt out. Luckily, it was still under warranty and the shop replaced the compressor. It's been more than a week since it was replaced and so far so good.
Talagang pinaka "the best" na ang mag-maintain ng Carens natin e dealer, kasi sila ang mas maraming experience sa ating sasakyan. Yung fuel filter kasi pag mali ang roskas ng gumagawa, katulad ng oil-filter e talagang magkakaroon ng leak. Kaya dapat pagka-install e i-check na mabuti kung tumutulo. Pag tama ang pagkakabit pabalik e mahirap na tumulo ito, kasi pinapalitan ang rubber gasket nito para complete ang seal.
Pero hindi sa lahat ng oras e mahusay ang mga "casa", katulad na lang nitong oil-leak ko. Kinalas ng husto ng casa sa Marikina ang engine ko "as in kalas" talaga at naka-baba sa labag, pero di pa rin nagawa ng husto ang leak ng engine ko. Nabawasan lang pero di nagawa ng husto.
My Kia Carens is now officially with my sister-in-law. Ever since she found out that I was getting a new car, she had been hounding me to sell the Carens to her. Right before I turned it over, I made sure that the aircon was finally okay, had the right headlight replaced (it had a crack from what I assume to be a stray stone while I was driving along SLEX), and treated the car to interior & exterior detailing. It was gleaming when I got it from the detailing shop and looked brand new (save for a few nicks and scratches that could not be erased through detailing).
I'll actually miss that car. At least, I'll get to drive it every so often when the entire family goes out of town or something.![]()
