hello, am a newbie here.... I am buying a Carens LX a/t this month. Based on the replies to this thread, Carens is worth buying. The only question lang talaga is if anyone has tried or even seen a Carens driving through a flooded street.

Hi! I made a short test drive of a carens MT crdi a few weeks back (base model).
I should say that i'm impressed with the 6-speed gear box and the interior trim is not bad.
The road that I tried it on was a hilly one and to my surprise, the carens can still accelerate on an uphill climb on 3rd gearNot sure if it's because there are only 2 of us in the car (not loaded) but you can gauge that this is enough power to haul people around.
the engine was a bit on the noisy side on the outside daw as compared to a santa fe crdi. but that's just noise to the people out there (not inside hehe).
as for the low ground clearance, this should not be an issue. this is a diesel engined car and usually diesels can wade thru floods better than its gasoline counterpart (i you know how). but my suggestion when you encounter a deeply flooded road, DONT cross it unless exteremely necessary (without a choice)
i'd say that this is a value for money korean family car again. i'll surely consider this car when i'm up for a change of cars againbut this would take some time now as kakapalit lang namin ng car. Bakit ngayon lang ito dumating?

i have a a carens and i have driven it in a midium yet passable flood of cainta near junction. kahit naman low clearance cya still, matatas pa rin compare sa mga usual sedans. but havent tested it yet to the land of Malabon where my favorite kakanin and pansit malabon is located! he he he.
