Isuzu Dmax Owners [continued]

Anybody having issues with the brakes of the all new dmax? squeaking on heavy braking.. or worse, locking..

Also, sudden braking causing the car to rattle.. Is this also the case for other dmax owners out there?

I just hope that this is not the ABS malfunctioning

Sir lahat ng sinabi mo abnormal.. I-pachekUp mo agad yan.. Yung squeking sound nangyari lang sa akin yan nung nagpalit ako ng Bendix Brand na BreakPad pero sa alalay na pitik ng preno at hindi sa Heavy Breaking..

Madalang na madalang lang problema..

Alterra ToTL 4x4 2008 Model - SCV pa lang major issue..Odo 140,000km
D-Max 4x4 2009 BoonDock edition - SCV din.. Odo 245,000km
D-max 4x2 2011 LS edition (no problem pa) hindi ko sure odo reading pero hindi pa tataas ng 60,000km

Yes sir it does.. That is why I was alarmed why it locked up. The Abs should have prevented such from happening. The squeaking usually occur when the car goes downhill and turns into a corner; and i'm pretty sure that the pads that time are dry. I hope that is normal.

What I mean by rattle is, for example, the car is traveling at 60 kph and you hit the brake, not that hard but not that light either, while the car is braking, its like the car jiggle before it stops. Its like hitting that rumble pile on the road, the one that keeps drivers on the road awake.

I know a fellow Dmax owner who has complained about the same thing, and as usual, the SA at isuzu says its normal, nothing to worry about. However, I do own and have driven cars with ABS before and the brakes do not work that way.Thus, I would like to solicit other owner's experience on the the matter.

*Atty.Don: There are a lot of possible reasons why your brakes squeak. Since you said you were sure they were dry when you heard it, one possible reason is it might need a cleaning coz it's dirty. Or, maybe it is already thin and due for change already.

If you would connect the dots, where you could also hear and feel a rattle when you step on the brake, maybe your pads have worn out. Or your rotor is warped. Or your brake pads thickness is uneven. There are a lot of possible reasons for you to feel those.

It can be the brake shoe also.

So just bring it to the dealership so they could check your truck.

We traversed NLEX-Subic via SCTEX, average speed is 100-120, short burst of 140-165, w/o AC. Hahahah, feeling ko hirap na dmax if AC on. Nilagpasan pa ako ng Fortuner, but okay lang. I don't "race" naman tlga, just exercising the 4jj1. But that D4d is hella fast though!

Sir heavy footed ako magmaneho.. Nung bago average of 13km/L.. Nung kapapalit ng SCV nasa 12.7km/L na lang.. As of now Ranging from 10.7 to 11.2km/L na lang.. Tire is 265/70/R16.. Highest record ko is 17km/L from Manaoag,Pangasinan to Vigan, Ilocos Sur pero 2am in the morning yun with average speed of 80kph..(sa BoonDock ito ha..) Mas mabigat arangkada nito compared sa LS..

I agree with sir ChoyJo, never ko naman nafeel na hirap ang Dmax ko even at 175 kph with aircon on. Un lang pagdating ko sa 170 kph, nag uumpisa ng makialam ang speed limiter at dahan dahan nalang siya until 175 kph then from that, hindi na niya papabilisin pa and ibababa sa 160 to 165 kph kahit ramdam ko na kayang kaya pang bumilis at very stable pa. Pero sabi nila that when you turn your aircon on, nababawasan talaga ang hp.

Hindi kasi built for speed ang Dmax un lang ginawa din nila na kaya niyang abutin ang ganyang speeds so hindi naman din siya mabagal. Sa highway, speed limiter ang magdi determine kung gaano kayo kalayo sa isa't isa. Pag mga 180 to 185 kph ang speed ng iba, halos magkaka sunod lang kayo. 190 kph or more, medyo malayo na.

Sa arangkada ka lang maiiwan especially coming from a standstill pero pagdating mo ng 80 kph, mabubuntutan mo na din ung mga un. Mabagal kasi ang gears 1 and 2 natin and yan din ang reason na pag sobrang steep ng climb, diyan mo naman nagagamit ang power na yan kahit may karga ka pang mabigat, hindi stressed ang engine and all you need is 2k rpm, aakyatin niya yan.

*ChoyJo: Even if my truck is older than yours, yours has traveled 130k kms more than mine so it has faced more maintenance than mine and for you to say that its maintenance isn't pricey, that's really something. Good to know, really.

Personally and so far, waya gyud pa brake problem akong hinDMAXsiado atty. Way squeaking problem bisan 6 years old na gane akong D-max sir atty. Moreover, di pa gyud ko nag-change og brake pads ;) ....Ayos ba sir or ayos na-laang ahihi

Ah eh, mabilis na ba yun 3.0 liter para sa iyo sir Bugoys? ....Parang hindi naman, wala pa naman nakakalampas pag pinapatulan ko lalo na't pag mag-overtake na nakatingin pa sa ino-overtake ahihi ;)

....Shhh, kuwentong barbero lang yan ah sir Bugoys ah ;) ....PERO TOTOO - madali lang unahan mga yan and you don't have to be a racer

Thanks ChoyJo for your inputs. Still contemplating on changing them tires to a bigger one. Almost same tayo ng FC, kaso i'm LS with 245 tires.

I think I used the wrong "phrase" siguro ang tama is kelangan ng mahabang bwelo, to achieve yung ganung speed with ac on and "gapang" na further 160-165 mark. On a side note, hinde ko pa tlga nahahataw dmax with ac on, coz I think it puts too much load on the ac compressor, plus i'm worried on egt temp, kaya short burst lang ako ng 160, kahit na gusto ko pa upakan ung accelerator. Heheheh

Boss d-mac, you have diesel chip right? Ano ulit yung sayo? Sarap nga humataw pag "chipped" na. I'm also considering adding diesel chip specifically dpchip. But its a long shot, kasi mahal! Hahahah.

I'm no longer using Racechip Pro 2 at the moment sir Bugoys. Inilagay muna namin sa Innova D4-D. But back then nang nasa akin pa yun, nasa B-B dial lang naman ako - low power combo setting lang iyon

With or without chip, honestly, kaya naman ang 3.0 liter nila, lalo na if you know how to use the stick shift kahit hindi pa tayo racer (manual tranny akin sir). Mas mainam pa nga kapag akyatan at zigzag, mas maganda maneuvering ng D-max kaysa doon. ;)

Cheers sir! Pumatol ka lang ng medyo habulan if you're in the mood only, pero it is much better na huwag na. Mag-pacing ka nalang if you wanna drive a bit faster at least mas controlled yon at mabilis ka na din naman when you do that.... Also keep an eye for the right line and attack it pag kailangan, but keeping in mind safety first hehe ;)

my hood opener lever (sa loob) is broken and the tailgate opener too. plastic parts broken. any suggestions where to buy replacements. sana surplus but pag brandnew wag lang sana sa casa.

bulbs sa cig lighter, glove comparment and ashtray all busted, and they are not the ordinary T5 o T10, meron sya proprietary housing. tempted just to cut and replace the connector but baka may replacement/surplus din sila.

Sa Banaue ka nalang sir Kurt.... Huwag ka lang magpaloko sa mga tao sa kalsada na lalapit sa yo nagsasabi "meron po dito, meron po doon, alam ko po gawin yan etc tsetseburetse" Ahihi.... Just please be advised. A lot of them are thriving on unsuspecting folks they can deceive. Better diretso ka sa shop and exercise caution.
