But my choice is limited only to honda and isuzu because the company where i work owns dealerships of those car brands and they would only allow honda or isuzu for my car plan. I live far in bulacan where the roads are not good. Hence, the choice for a dmax pick-up over the civic and crv of honda.

I really like the vgt version. If only anybody can assure me that it will be released here this year or even early next year i'll definitely wait for it. But the problem is nobody has any clue as to what IPC is going to offer next. Embarassing that even the GM of our company's isuzu dealerships doesn't know..

Just a tip chief Teekoy: Should you end up with the current Philippine-DMax Ddi-iTEQ series, make sure you DON'T TAKE "any leftover prior to the" Radikal or X-Max series DMax's, if there are still any on discounts or same price

Suction-valve pangkaraniwang SAKIT ng mga late 2007 to early 2010 (prior to the Radikal series) DMax Ddi-iTEQ models, at biglang low-power ang common complaints ng ibang DMax owners that got this model.... I own a 2008 model Ddi-iTEQ but lemme refrain from commenting chief

Malaki na ang suction valve ng Radikal series and thereafter....

    Goodluck.

Sir Benz, nakapagdecide na ko on what tire size I would use next. Still 265/70R16 for my front wheels then 275/70R16 for the rear wheels. It will still fit padin daw the stock rims so ok lang daw. Sacrifice nalang talaga ko na side by side lang ako makapagrotate ng tires ko nun kasi my rear tires wont fit in front na unless maglift ako. But they would still try to look for 285/70R16 if may makuhanan sila. Pero ok na din ung 275/70R16 kasi dun ko lang nalaman na kada lumapad ung tire size is tataas din pala. Everything will follow pero ung sa rims e it will still fit nga daw. Malapad na din tignan un e. But still hoping for the 285/70R16.hehe Gusto ko lang talaga staggered look ung dmax ko e,since la pa enough budget for rims.hehe Im buying dunlop tires. Dun lang sila may ganun tire size e., Or may masuggest ka po any brand na much better than dunlop but d naman nagkakalayo sa price and quality?.. TIA!

Ok yang Dunlop esp yung Grandtrek AT3. In my experience better than Bridgestone Dueller AT in terms of patagalan sa pudpod. road noise and handling is just about the saem. Mas mahal lang kunti Dunlop AFAIK.

Ok din yung suggestion na Pirelli.

Great! When you finally decide on which tire brand/size, slap it on your truck, snap a shot and post it here. :clap1:

Going back, Hyundai-Kia conglomerate is now the 4th largest car manufacturer in the world, and the 2nd-largest now amongst Asian manufacturers next to Toyota ---- Hyundai Santa Fe for one and even Kia Sorento, they always earn 5-star in vehicle's safety compliance by European standards ---- says a lot about the company eh, especially bumping out the mighty American Ford Motors to 5th-place hehe. Isuzu Motors and even Mitsubishi Motors are not even in the Top 10....
....and this is not an opinion nor a personal anecdote by the way, it is 120% fact that this is how reputable Hyundai-Kia is now hehe....

Moreover, in the Philippines, as far as pickup is concerned, the mighty Toyota Hilux is still the best-selling for 2010, and on SUV's also for 2010, it is the Mitsubishi Montysports, not the DMax pickup nor the Alterra SUV....
....Also, Hyundai Philippines is now the 3rd-ranking car distributor in the Philippines next to Toyota and Mitsubishi when it comes to sales and consumers preference.... Again Unk Nick, this is not an opinion nor a personal anecdote, it is 120% fact that this is how reputable Hyundai is now in a Japanese-bailiwick country like the Phils. hehe....

By the way i love Patty Pravo's "Pensiero Stupendo" ....simply triple A song!

You've known me Nick, even perhaps way back at Isuzu Philippines's Club Isuzu forum that "i DON'T DANCE" just to please anyone....
....And sure enough that site HOGWASHED everything that was exchanged thereat over the last 8 months or so of forum discussions that refer to anything about the "3-litre iTEQ VGS Turbo". Isuzu Phils. simply has a way of taking matters eh hehe.... i believe "Mr. Clean" was also a stable forumer thereat, but of course, i'm not blaming anyone on the hogwash and it's not even a point of our discussion here

I'd rather speak of the truth than hide it Nick, and definitely, i don't dance since both of my feet are lefty anyway hehe ---- the very core of my personality and why i've always find my self working with Caucasians or individuals that prefer straight-talk, that decisions are made based on facts, systematic-, and engineered-approach, and where information are shared based on these principles and not on any man's "personal-anecdotes" or "cheap-shot" baseless perception just to please those people who want to hear what they wanna hear.... But you know Nick, advices or things like these "cheap-shots" are "INFECTIOUS" especially to those readers who are unsuspecting....

This is perhaps where we differ a lot and no one has to like me nor befriend me.... i'm not here to do that, as a matter of fact

i know also know Unk Nick how much you love your 3-litre Alterra Ddi-iTEQ and you've earned it. Sure, it's one beautiful car but don't always believe the crap you're hearing as to how really good or better it is than some others, BECAUSE it's not ---- again, a matter of opinion as you say....

    Bueno, sin problemo amigo....

    Buenos noches y siempre cuidate

    Hasta luego! Ciao!
Thank you for your comments. These are building blocks of my perception of you.....it is what you are in my view.

I wish to make a point that I did not buy the Alterra because it was the "best". "Best" is a purely objective point of view based on opinions.

My primary reason is that the Alterra, versus the much more popular Fortuner, is not a carnappers favorite target vehicle. There is not much demand for the entire (stolen) vehicle, nor parts thereof.

As a white foreigner in the Philippines, it is top concern for me.

My secondary reasons are that I prefer conventional body on frame versus unibody, rear wheel drive, and leaf rear suspension and torsion bar front set up, versus coils.....all debatable points, for sure.

I also enjoy the extra rear leg room and longer wheelbase of the Alterra, since I employ a driver for any trips over one hour or so and prefer to lounge in the very comfortable, reclining rear seat.

The Sante Fe, perhaps the most advanced alternative from an engineering standpoint, is a "crossover" and suffers from minor irritating problems which the workshops have trouble dealing with (electrical accessories, mainly, according to owners' surveys). Twice, when presented with demonstration units, there were accessories which did not work on a brand new car they were trying to sell me. The Hyundai casa also have customer vehicles which they hold waiting for a factory "expert" to diagnose on his next visit....not good!

Almost anybody can repair an Isuzu, but the engine compartment of a Santa Fe is like a jig-saw puzzle to the average Filipino (including mechanics). Perhaps I am wrong, but roadside emergency repairs to a Sante Fe would be impossible to obtain in the farm area where I live.

We live in a subdivision, but, my wife's relatives are farmers and we travel mostly on narrow farm roads with rice fields all around us (yes, we have 4WD).

Manila might be another matter, but Science City of Munoz, and San Jose in Nueva Ecija are the "big towns" near where I drive.

So, to sum up; Some people buy certain brands for other reasons than to get the "best".

The world rotates with compromises all around us.

It is a real pleasure to chat with you.

    Ciao!

    Uncle Nick.

Even way back in 2002, Isuzu Motors was already producing a 3-litre CRDi engine with variable-geometry turbocharger for European car companies Saab of Sweden, Opel of Germany and Renault of France....
....In fact, the Isuzu's 6DE1 diesel is the world's first closed-deck cylinder block made of diecast aluminum.

    http://www.isuzu.co.jp/world/amuseme...02/diesel.html

Also, by now, Isuzu has exported over 21 million diesel engines to over 120 companies worldwide, with the plus 13 million delivered in 2003 alone!

Even at the present times, what Isuzu is giving us in the Philippines is nothing, compared for the most part, to its overseas market offers

I'm almost due for my 5K PMS. Medyo namamahalan ako sa rates sa casa. Anyone know where I can buy my own engine oil, filters, etc para makabawas sa gastos tapos bigay ko nalang sakanila.

I also consider ung Pirelli, nagcanvass na ko kanina nun. Almost the same prices din sila. Minimal lang differences. Naghahanap lang ako kung san meron ng tire sizes na gusto ko. Sa ibang shops kasi e limited lang. Staggered look kasi gagawin ko,mas malapad sa rear.

Ako bro ung ginagawa ko e I still buy the filters sa casa. Then i use shell engine oil tapos sa trusted mechanic ko na pinapagawa. I always spent siguro for about 5k siguro. Kasi synthetic oil ginagamit ko. Pero lately lang tinawagan ako ng SA ko, they're offering me regular discounts on parts and labor for PMS. Kasi nakita nila sa records ko na ganun nga ginagawa ko,nabili lang parts sakanila tapos sa labas pinapagawa.
