Hi Guys, Just installed all OME shocks in my Max. Here's my take:
Upon initial drive on paved roads, not much of a difference from my previously installed kyb shocks (aftermarket) unless you run over humps and bumps. I think its because the kyb shocks are also stiff (great in cornerings actually).
The main and the BIG difference between the EMU and KYB shocks is the valving. You can really breeze through rough roads with confidence. I observed that vibrations are now limited (and also decreased) in the steering wheel. Seat vibrations which normally causes my back pains, are now gone, which means that the shocks are really doing its job of absorbing them.
The rear, having leaf springs is still stiff but the harshness and most importantly the BOUNCINESS (specially when unladen) was significantly reduced making the ride more tolerable.
I can say that OME shocks are really great upgrades and it really does its job. Its expensive mainly because of the technology (valving) that comes with it. But I hope that ARB finds a way to reduce the price so that many clients can enjoy this particular product..hehe.
But hey, its still a truck and not a car ha. Don't expect it to run like a car. Hit or tap the brakes if you need to...hehe.
Thanks ARB for the special arrangement in RATS.
yes OME has torsion bars for the max. But it is stiffer than the originals as it designed to handle more loads, like front winch bumper, winch etc.
I see pare. I'm contemplating in reversing the last springs sa rear ng Dmax. Big difference ba? Parang hindi ko ma fully utilize ang ride na binibigay ng EMU shocks sa likod? How much loading capacity will be compromised and how much height will be reduced?
Djerms - Congrats on a great investment! Give it a bit more time like a week for the OMEs to settle in, hindi pa yan ang actual ride nya, gaganda pa yan. Break-in mo muna, roadtrip again?![]()
Srbogoy - The velcro on the trapal side is stitched and the entire bedliner side Devcon ko because plain rugby won't do. EB tayo with the rest of the Cebu Dmax owners pagbalik mo ha? May schedule ako sa Cebu by next month.
iiinaslao - Thanks! Just idolizing your roll-up hahaha!
Guys,
For sale ang 2 front shocks ng Dmax ko and 2 front shocks na kyb gas a just. Benta ko din 2 rear shocks na KYB fluids.
All shocks are in good condition. Yung KYB gas a just 2 days lang nagamit. With bnew bushings pa na naka-plastic pa. I used these shocks during my experimenting process as to what shocks ang okay. I ended up with OMEs.
Super cheap ko lang ibebenta. PM me nalang. Thanks.
memphis balitaan mo nalang ako if nakabit mo na yun mitsuba. Hinay hinay lang sa pagbusina.![]()
iiinaslao,
regarding sa roller bed mo, is it fullmetal jackrabbit or plain jackrabbit?
2dmax - nope, how i wish it was a jack rabbit... its just the original pace edwards roll-top cover. the main difference of the original roll-top cover to the jack rabbit is that the jack rabbit can retract and lock every foot the roll top is retracted, the original roll-top can only retract and lock in two positions, fully closed, and halfway. but basically the same material for the roll-top itself, its covered with padded vinyl.
the full-metal jack rabbit can retract and lock every foot just like the plain jack rabbit, but the material used is not the padded vinyl anymore, its made of full powdered extruded aluminum (but colored black).
i asked camper shell if they have stocks of jack rabbit's and they said they only get it pag may orders, so may waiting time. while the plain pace edwards roll-top, they usually have a couple in stock.
galing kasi ko sa campershells banaue kanina. and kumuha ko ng PE brochures. parang ayaw ko na nang carryboy rollers ko nung makita ko ung full metal jack rabit. ang ganda! ang very slim, aerodynamic! how much daw ung full metal JR (non-automatic)?
ung full-metal JR na auto-close/open is about 80k php daw e.
guys, tumingin ako ng reversing light sa banaue. mukhang ok ung HELLA Comer 450. if one piece bibilhin mo, it costs 2500 php, but if pair 3800 php. pero try ko pang canvass sa iba baka mas mura.. baka may gusto sa inyo dyan na makihati ha.. hehe
Thanks for the picture memphis... wala akong makitang DEVCON na brand, I'll try a different brand to stick those velcro.
2dmax-not sure pero alam ko close to 50k (mga high 40's). but maganda nga yung jackrabbit series. at first carry boy roller top na rin ako then my cousin told me about pace edwards (they are the original in roller tops pala). kung sa original roll-top ko, sobrang satisfied na ako, the more if you got the jack rabbits. pictures pag nakabit mo na.![]()
