Jet A-1,
I haven't been able to drive an AT Dmax but what I can really say is that the fact that it is a Turbodiesel, it accelerates a whole lot quicker than your regular diesel engine.
By the way, I think IMO stands for "In My Opinion", right guys?.

Jet A-1,
IMO: In my opinion.
I own an AT Dmax and having driven both, all I can say is there is little difference when it comes to torque and overall power. AT's nowadays are intelligent. It knows when to upshift and downshift unlike in older vehicles wherein "gear hunting" is very evident.
Given a powerfull engine, I think you will not have any problem with the AT variant. The MT variant's advantage however lies in the fact that you can control the gear shifting and of course it is more fuel efficient (not that the AT variant isn't). If you are looking for convenience however (with all the city traffic jams), AT is the way to go.
Recommendation:
If you travel mostly on Highways: Get the MT
If you're faced with the irritating city traffic: Get AT
My fuel consumption:
City: 9km/l
Highway: 12km/l
I think the MT can do the following:
City: 12km/l
Highway: 14-16km/l
Paging Ian Rex, Memphis and MT owners...correct me nalang if I'm wrong.
What I dont like about my Dmax: Actually I can't think of anything...hmmm...okay just to write something...its the AT dipstick positioned really really deep down the engine bay and the Gold painted engine cover.
Compared to the Hi-lux, I think the Dmax has a more complete package in terms of engine power, ride comfort, hauling capacity, entertainment system, and most specially SAFETY (ABS, Dual Airbags, EBD).

honestly, maganda naman ang ride ng dmax lalo na kung ikaw nagdadrive. Hindi siya matagtag. Kaya go for the dmax pick up.
Btw im driving a dmax AT. Malakas makina niya and malakas humatak considering im carrying 70 kilos of weight everyday in my bed.

October 29th, 2006 08:46 AM #994I'm getting lots of help here.
Djerms, I like the fuel consumption numbers. It's way above what I expected. Your recommendation is well noted, sir.
Jasopn, nice pix on your avatar (tama ba)?

ARB,
How much ang OME shocks for Dmax? I plan just to replace the rear...okay ba ang results or should I stay with my OEMs?
Guys,
Im nearing my 20tkms na. I dont plan to have isuzu casa do the job since Autotechnika Da Fort is open already and an AT transtech device is available.
As recommended, lahat ng filters at fluids kailangan palitan. Do I really need to do this or just top off?
Anyway ano ba ang gamit na engine oil ng casa? What specific shell oil and rating?
As for the coolant, brake fluid (do I really need to replace this already), and differential oil, I'll just buy them outside rather than getting from Isuzu..may mga recommended brands ba kayo?
As for the power steering and AT fluid, I'll still get them from Isuzu para safe.
How much inabot ang labor and materials ninyo sa Isuzu just for me to compare?...
TIA

Hey guys tulungan nyo nga ko mag-compute ng mileage ko, here are the figures...
I travelled 219kms total ( all hi-way) then my average speed was 100 to 120kph max.
Ang nakuha lang sa tank is exactly 1/4 lang according to the gauge.
Hindi ko kasi alam ang exact capacity ng fuel tank.
Thanks!

MR,
How many liters did you pay for last full tank? Just divide 219 by the total liters poured.

MR,
Unless you consume at least half of your tank, you won't get an accurate km/L reading. Why? Because the gause is not symetric. 1/4 does not necessarily mean 1/4 consumed. Kaya nga minsan mas mabilis na bumaba ang needle gauge to empty at certain points.
HTH.

Djerms, i think the casa uses Shell Rimula X with SAE 15W 40 rating. as for the filters, yes you'll need to replace. same with fluids and coolant.
my dmax, d-I-Y lagi. also, i heard that it is much cheaper to by at Isuzu Makati (Gencars) for the parts- much cheaper ang price.Last edited by ian_rex; October 30th, 2006 at 08:20 AM.

Couldn't have explained it better myself. This was the point I was making. They (either manually or...
