    Guys,

    I have a question: My 2002 XTO is spewing white smoke from the Oil-dipstick tube whenever I pull it out. What do you think causes this? In my experience, it's one of the signs of blow-by, need to confirm it though. As per my XTO's history, I bought it 2nd hand and have been using it for almost 3-years now.

    Thanks!

    Jay

    Seems like Jay. But best you do a compression test to confirm.

    Thanks Sir Benzmizer! Another question, what oil additive will lengthen the life of my engine if considering that it is blow-by?

    Sorry but I am not a fan of additive. Some forumers here may have a first hand experience and may be able to provide you some leads.

    sir good pm! Im just new here

    sir nagpapalit kami ng windshield dahil ginasgas ito ng sira ulo sa amin. Covered naman sya sa insurance so pinalitan na lang namin. Ang nangyari hindi pa natutuyo yung goma na nka sealed sa windshield until na natanggal sya. Mga sir pwede ko ba to ipa ayus sa mga shop lang dito sa amin kasi malayu pa yung showroom mula sa amin(more or less 2 hours) at sayangan din ako sa langis para pumunta lang dun for minor corrections. ty GBU

    [QUOTE=jhaybag;1798119]Guys,

    I have a question: My 2002 XTO is spewing white smoke from the Oil-dipstick tube whenever I pull it out. What do you think causes this?     MY REPLY;

    White smoke is usually a sign of a coolant leak.

    Remove the radiator cap, but be sure the engine is not too hot when you do this. As you remove it, turn your face away, just in case, and use a large rag to protect your hands.

    If you see small bubbles inside the radiator, while the engine is running...you have a coolant problem. This would be confirmed by white smoke in your exhaust.

    Report back on your findings, and I will advise the next step, which will probably be a compression test ( as correctly recommended by my good friend Benzmizer).

    Be sure the person doing the compression test knows how to interpret the results. If you can, post the results here for each cylinder, in proper order.

    Yeah, start saving your money, this will probably be expensive.

    A failed head gasket would be my first suspicion.

    Ciao!

    Uncle Nick.

    Some additives have minimal benefit, but certainly no where near what the additive manufacturers suggest.

    If you need mechanical repairs, additives will either mask the problem, or, make the problem worse.

    Many years ago, when I was in the "business", I used additives to correct problems with much success....BUT, engines were much more simple, back in the day, and I did know full well what I was doing.

    My advice to you....stay away from additives in general.

    Ciao!

    Uncle Nick.
