    Ask ko lang, kaninang umaga pa alis palang kami ni misis, after i started d xuv may na aamoy akong parang nasusunog na "rubber" galing sa loob ng muffler. Ano kaya yun? Any advise po!!?? Pero ok naman yung takbo namin nung paandarin kuna. ( i think sa 'BELT' ng engine?)

    Are you sure it's coming from the muffler? How did you "smell" it? As for the "melting belt" scent coming from the engine, it might be your fan belts....

    If you are not sure, have them checked with a trusted and competent technician. Mahirap balewain mga ganitong kakaibang nararamdaman....

    After i started the car nasa lub ako nang garage, 4 steps away from my car my na aamoy kaming "sunog na rubber" tinapatan ko ng amoy yung muffler dun nanggagaling yung amoy. After that sumakay na kami sa loob, sa loon ng car wala naman kaming na aamoy na katulad sa labas. Hindi rin naman sa aircon vent, naka a/c kami that time. Ok! naman yung amoy sa loob. Kanina lang cya nangamoy. Then dumating kami sa bahay lunch time na wala naman akong na aamoy na "sunog" after i switched off d car. But definetly tommorow e ccheck ko ulit at buksan korin yung hood para cgurado.( i hope carbon em. lng yung na amoy ko.)

    Hmmm, that "burning rubber" may still be coming from somewhere else. I cannot relate the scent to be coming from the muffler. Check again tomorrow if ganun pa din. Do this just to reconfirm what you observed today. Whatever the result of that would be, best to seek an expert's opinion.

    Don't. It'll defeat the purpose of having one, di ba? Owning a car has its own risks. Being vandalized, robbed, etc. There are ways to limit the risks naman. First is to park your car in a garage and avoid leaving it parked outside the house (specially if you are not in a subdivision). If on public parking naman, avoid dark, isolated parking areas. As much as possible, park in a well-lit area -- better if there is a parking attendant/guard to look at it.

    Not to mention that since the car is a moving object, accidents/2ndary damages may occur.

    In my attempt to make you feel better, imagine my situation. I have a nearly classic W123. Imagine if something gets damaged or stolen.... saang lupalop ko hahanapin yung pyesang yun? Availability of the part is a major concern. I may even have to source it abroad. With such, expect the price to be expensive due to scarcity of the part. And mind you, the W123 is my daily driver --- so the level of probability (knock on wood) is there.

    Sabagay, you're right but sometimes you can't really help but think of the expenses eh.. Right now here are the things that I lined up to be done with my car. just like what you've said to reset the car's condition back to "0" Highest priority are those related to brakes and engine.

    • Rotor Disc Replacement
    • Computerized Wheel Alignment
    • Rotation of tires.
    • Changing of Fluids - so far change oil and ung sa transmission gear oil palang nagawa ko.
    • Replacement of LH Side Mirror with LED
    • Replacement of 1 Fog Light
    • Adding Accessories Window Visor, Carrier, Front/Rear Bull Bar, Tail light Chrome Garnish, Chrome Handles. --> Aesthetics to
    • Upgrading the Sound Setup (budget A/V setup) -> for my Daughter who loves watching barney's and dora the explorer


    *Bob - Do you have any suggestions what other things should be done in order to achieve condition 0?

    With regards to your Classic W123, good luck and hope nothing fails on your ride. mas mahirap nga i-maintain ung ride mo, I even don't know what W123 is until I google it and saw the pictures, hehehe.

With the priorities you have listed, checking the underchassis is the only one I have missed reading. Not for anything but since you're to lift the car for alignment, might as well have the bushings/rods checked. Most of the time it may just need adjustments and tightening. Seemed a simple task to perform so some neglect to do this but "loose" connections may just end up with bigger damage.

    If there is any consolation to your efforts to bring it back to "0" state, you can only do so much for now. No one (not even the best mechanic) could check internals unless you open and check. The list you have provided basically covers what you can do for now. I would just like to suggest that you be "sensitive" as you use the car. If you feel something is out of the ordinary, have it check right away. That way, you may be able to avoid bigger repairs.

Thank you. I always do include in my short prayers that my W123 delivers.     OT: Louie, here is my W123. 1983 240D USV A/T (2.4L Non-Turbo Diesel) = S-L-O-W! Hahaha!

    Thanks for posting you're ride, it looks nice and very well maintained.

    So far I don't feel any problem with my engine the mechanic also check it before and said that I just maintain it and be consistent with change oil it will go very far, and it does not blow black smoke yet since I always have my exhaust cleaned from carbon deposits. Since I got my ride, I've already run 2.5k km and I don't have any regret getting this car, which is btw my first descent car after an owner type jeep during my teenage days.

    I'm also very keen now when driving my car, sometimes I even open my windows just to better hear the sound of my engine which is becoming music to my ears na.

    Syangapala, I forgot I'm planning to have an underchassis coating also, I've already inquired at Petron along Araneta Ave. the price for their under coating is 3k using 3M Rubberized paint. Is this okay? I'm also considering Ziebart or Tuff Kote. Any suggestions? this is also high on my priority list.

    +1 to your idea of an undercoat.

    Not to downplay Petron and it's services but Ziebart and Tuff Kote has been in that business for the longest time. A big part of me says you just choose between both --- unless their price is like 2-3x more to that of Petron, then I leave that for you to decide.

    I just to want to solicit any suggestion how to buy a used car. I've been gearing up to buy Crosswind since it will fit the condition in our area. FLOOD. There's been lot of words that I might fall to a expensive yet downgraded car. I know a lot of you have an experience about the unit. Your suggestion is highly appreciated. Better yet if you can recommend a unit that is for sale.

    First, don't buy a Crosswind unit being sold in your area. Why? you mentioned of your area being flood-prone.... if the existing owner isn't sensitive of his Crosswind's maintenance (i.e. more frequent vehicle underwash, etc) you might end up getting a "rusty" unit, if you know what i mean.

    Second, how much is your budget for a 2nd hand Crosswind? Any particular Crosswind variant you're after? PM me your reply to this and let me see what I could do to help.

    Lastly, whichever unit you are to purchase, best if you could bring a trusted and experienced mechanic to help you assess the unit's condition.... at least the mechanical/electrical side. Aesthetic-wise, I think your taste would be enough.

    Mine too, sa may driver side...biyak sa gitna...may butas kasinlaki ng 2x2.

    When I inquired here in Gensan, the cost is 5thou...next day delivery pa. Ang mahal pala. Walang available na cover lang. You have to buy the whole assembly.

    What I did w2as to buy an acrylic panel 1 foot by 1 foot costing a 100 bucks sa isang glass store and carefully made a replica of the cover of my fog lamp. Hard plastic
    lang pala and original cover, hindi glass.

    I used a five minute clear epoxy to cover my fog lamp. At a certain distance you would not notice any difference with the original one.

    If you diy it be sure you have some skills in cutting and gluing but if you have the 4 thou or 5 thou you should get a replacement.

    gusto kong linisan air filter ng crosswind namin, di ko lang madala sa casa since 7k palang sha for her 10k pms. alam ko kelangan alisin yung mga clips circled in yellow, but do I have to take out those circled in red? also may cone type air filter ako, pwede bang direcho kabit na sha sa rubber tube, or kelangan ko pang bumili nung stainless tube? thanks!

    Yup, you'd need to remove the metal strap BUT not that. The other one that you have not encircled. As for the cone-type air filter, I believe you'd need to use that stainless tube that one often sees everytime a cone-type air filter is used. Pero eto lang naman sa akin.... why would you want to put that type of filter? Maingay na nga yung makina ng Crosswind, papaingayin mo pa lalo? Seriously, I would suggest you stick using the OEm air filters. And it seems that your Crosswind is new.... you would not want to take the risk of voiding the warranty this early, right?

    Thanks partner. Di biro mag-alaga ng classic. It required a lot of TLC.... and time (which I rarely have). I am just fortunate that my W123 has been cooperative.... not giving me a lot of worries. This may be my daily driver but there is always ba Trooper as back-up vehicle should the classic fails..... ( I still hope not )
