Thanks for the info and the offer centum.

Ingat lang sa pagbili ng 3M brand dahil daming fake at meron pang made in Singapore(the one being given for free sa mga casa).

Hi - been reading this forum for quite sometime, for reason that I will be buying new car soon and about 80-90 %, am inlcined to buy the Sta Fe. I have test driven it, and am quite impressed with the very quiet engine, which sort of whistles when you revv it. It doesnt sound like a diesel engine at all. Plus the soft ride and powerful 2.2 L engine.

Although I have seen quite a big improvement in the Hyundai model line up, in terms of the design and look specifically (and features), still have this nagging feeling on the reliability issue of Korea made cars.

Can I requests all Sta fe owners in this forum to provide feedback on their Sta Fe cars, basically a short survey, and you may reply in the form of:

    Car Model - xxx
    Year purchased - xxx
Any one time major/minor problems encountered - xxx
Any recurring problem encountered - xxx
    Comments on reliability - xxx

Thank you and hoping for a good number of replies.

Car Model - 2007 SF CRDi VGT

    Year purchased - July 2006

Any one time major/minor problems encountered -

    1. park light won't work. Turns out that the bulb inside just got dislodged.

    2. Fuel Filter got water because it was borrowed and got filled up in a dilapidated Petron branch in Rosario, Cainta. CASA replaced it and the car is okay again. When i read the manual months later, it's too late, it says there that we only need to drain the Fuel Filter thru a drain nut in case it got water and NOT replace it. That's a PhP 5k mistake. Told the CASA about it and they said that it's always required to replace in events like that. Next time (hopefully there's none again), i'll do it myself. The manual has a detailed instruction on how to do it.

of course, the casa might be right or they may be speaking from past experience with past car models.

Any recurring problem encountered - park light bulb inside got dislodged again. I'm going to watch how they do it this time because im going to fix it myself.

Comments on reliability - it's pretty okay. Engine doesn't choke, it's fast, can do 200kmh with 7 adult passengers, very stable at very high speeds. Very good brakes, Economical.

One thing though, the horn is hard to press. Im not sure why.

The whistle you hear is the BorgWarner Variable Geo Turbocharger which engages around 900-1000rpm.

HP, mukhang naisahan ka ng casa. It's really simple to fix pag nagkaroon water ang fuel filter. You're right, the manual says it all. If you really want to do some DIY on your SF, if you have not gone to this website www.hmaservice.com, please do so. You will find there a lot of information and a shop manual for everything from body, engine, eletrcial, service bulletins. I find it useful as i love to tinker wilh cars.Since this is a US site, walang CRDI engine.

    Sir Bongsac,
Hagibis ka yata mag-drive...I've been to Baguio just a few days back(from June 1-3)...Alabang to Baguio City(via Kennon) took us 8 hrs dahil may excavation works sa Urdaneta(congested), Return to Mla took us 6 hrs.

On my way to Baguio, may nakasabay akong naka-Fortuner 2.7G at 3.0V na gustong subukan ang Santa Fe ko sa NLEX...hehehe. Pina-overtake ko muna para naman sumaya, then iniwan ko na *185Kph

Comments on reliability - very reliable so far. Very comfy too. Went to Isabela and I am pretty impressed on how the Santa Fe handled the zig zag road to Santa Fe, N.V. Was not able to drive to Baguio yet but my wife did last May 26. She is pretty confident driving the Santa Fe from Manila to Baguio with our 2 kids. Taga roon siya so she knows Kennon road
