ask an insurance company. I would think they know since they base their insurance price on the overall car price, they would know how much a 2005 Sta Fe cost in 2007(considering depreciation costs).

Just for sh*t and giggles, I decided to see how much would my 2006 Sonata (bought in Aug 2005) depreciate if it had 14k miles using the Kelly blue book as a guide. I know it's only a starting point and the final selling price would probably be lower. But, it's a start...... Selling price was $21k. The Kelly blue book price amounted to $5 short of $20k.

I did the same with a 2006 V6 Accord sedan (A/T) and the same mileage just to see what it's like. Selling price was $27.5k. The Kelly blue book price totaled $25k.

I'm not going to compare my car to a 2005 Sonata because the 2006 Sonata is a totally new car. I'll try again towards the end of this year and see how much more it depreciates.

Maybe the resale value might improve with these newer models.

Punta ka nalang sa Ford day on January 27, sa Fort Bonifacio. Some of us tsikoteers will definitely be there.

Gusto ko sana pumunta pero I have to bring my famly to Tagaytay on Jan 27 for the chopper ride around Taal volcano. Request kasi ng anak ko as his birthday gift. Anong oras ba start ng Ford day or until what time siya? Try ko dumaan pagkagaling ng Tagaytay.

I was wondering kasi sooner or later, someone, somewhere will have to sell his unit (Santa Fe) for one reason or another.

When that time comes, curious lang ako sa magiging resale value nya. Example lang ha, the Hyundai Coupe is for sale at 1.3M to 1.4M, brand new. I saw a couple of 2004 Coupes for sale at some used car lots for only 700+K. Bargain talaga. Kaya ako aabangan ko yung mga slightly used na Santa Fe.
that's true and we Sante Fe owners realize that even before we bought it. but we just could'nt resist the superior features, beauty, power, comfort and everything that the car brings. and we could say that we are driving a 2-2.5million worth car for only 1.5Million.

Eh, nothing wrong with Daihatsus. Although the Toyota badge would hold the resale value and sell much, much better.

just curious... what are the forecast/figures we have on the resale price of sta fe two or several years from now, locally? why are we saying it to be below compared to other suvs? how much exactly is it? and how much exactly is the difference compared to other suv's? I have not seen baseline figures yet pero there are claims(in general) that it will be low.

RE: Daihatsu: Yeah, nothing much wrong with Daihatsus, but I bet you the Daihatsu branded version wouldn't sell nearly as well as the Toyota branded one, considering all people know about Daihatsu here is the Charade. It would probably sell slower than the Suzuki APV. So, medyo sneaky ang rebadging, on Toyota's part.

RE: Ford Day: All day, AFAIK, might have test-drives into the night. I'll confirm with the club.

RE: Resale values: They're based on assumptions that the Santa Fe would depreciate like Hyundai cars. Which is unfair. Assumptions should be based on Hyundai cars and trucks. The Starex has a relatively fair resale value, as it has proven itself in the market. If the Santa Fe proves to have decent quality and reliability, it could go the way of the Starex... it is a diesel, after all.

Hyundai cars depreciate badly because of experiences with the older Excel models, which hurt the reputation of the later Elantra models. The older Hyundai Coupes aren't horrible, but they aren't the most mechanically reliable of cars (though my friend never had any complaints about his 98' Coupe, which he finally sold back in 04), which also hurts their reputation.

Amongst the current crop, Hyundai resale values seem low, but not disastrously so (more akin to Nissans and Mitsus than Daewoos), and I expect them to get higher as quality improves. Amongst diesels, as said before, the Starex does a more than decent job.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Sir! Can we remove ba the Hyundai badge sa front? If yes bibili na ko nyan instead of the Fortuner and Mazda 3! How about the tailights? Stock na ba yan? I saw one in Greenhills kasi na ganyan ung lights. But other Santa Fes all-red lang.

Euro tail lights ang Santa Fe sir, so yes, that's the stock. Yung sa amin di na pinalitan, oks naman e.

Not sure kung pwede yung badge delete (removal of brand logo). But why remove it? It means you are one of the few who chose not to be drifted by everyone else's choice. naks! hehehee.

Hahaha wala lang para when I get my White or Black or Silver SF, I'm the only one not sporting a badge!

As for the tail lights, some models I've seen (in Greenhills, Manila and QC) pure red? Ala-Mazda 3 ung pure red, ung Euro version that you have Mazda 6. What variant ba yan? Bka pag base pure red, or pag ung top of the line ung euro.

    Thanks Sir!
