I dunno if that can be claimed under warranty it seems to me it came from the seatbelt buckle. Yung 2nd row when you pull down the armrest the armrest hits the buckle so bumabakat. Subukan mo ilubog yung buckle.

May ganyan din sa unit ko. what I did was I push the buckle inside the slot.
As of the moment, hindi ko na ma monitor if bumabakat pa sya.

Let's see how that goes...

    Madalas down tsikot e.

    Hello Tsikoteers:

I have decided to purchase a Santa Fe 2.2CRDi. I have done the research, backbrowsed online fora and discussion groups (why is my connection to Tsikot always timed out, access cut- is this normal now?), did the test drives and most importantly, secured the approval from the powers that be (hint: I married her).

I have only three nagging questions now which I hope this forum can provide (or at least point to the right direction)

    DEALER:
I have gone thru dealers in QC, Pasig, Manila, Makati and Taguig. I live in Pasig.

I need one who values a relationship. Meaning for the next 5 years at least, we can discuss and execute whatever needs to be done with the vehicle. Where I can be always be assured of attention and care, that will be proactive and responsible in dealing with me. That when I call or visit, I will not be treated just like any other customer.

The freebies and discounts are a nice touch but secondary to the RELATIONSHIP. That is what I value most.

SAFETY (SF rates highly in US Car safetry reports pls validate)

I have a 16 month old tornado that somehow finds extreme comfort in going with dada in the car. How are child seats tethered in the SF? The SAs I asked are clueless (about many things about the product they are selling).

Does it use the LATCH system (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children)? Or you parents use the normal seatbelt loop around the carrier/seat?

    http://www.car-safety.org/latch.html

Can the convex “converstation” mirror really help in monitoring backseat shenanigans?

Are childproof doors installed sa likod?

Is the yaya section (3rd row seats) good for long drives eg (3 hours or more) or shall I worry about complaints from DOLE or worse, the Commission on Human Rights?

Where can I locally get a rearview mirror that’s a Bluetooth speakerphone (mic on the visor) and is also the LCD display to the backup camera and sensor? I was impressed by a late model starex that has this and the night vision camera and display is cool.

    1. iPOD jack-

can you control iPod functions from the HU and the steering wheel controls?

Does song and track info display on the HU lcd (my current alpine does reads CD and MP3 and iPod info)

    2. Audio System:

The test drives showed a decent audio system (how come these dealers don’t keep a demo CD ready ? How hard can it be) but I was not concentrating too much on it (masarap nga imaneho ito)

I am a hifi Audio/Video buff and to those with an ear for such, would the stock system do? Or night and day difference if I switch to aftermarket HU and speakers?

I can place an amp under the seat easily but is a subwoofer custom built into the cargo panel doable ? (a sub box though removable would just be too cumbersome and inconvenient with the 3rd row seats)

Thanks in advance for your inputs. I was active in this forum a few years back but marriage and fatherhood sure does changes things. So this people carrier upgrade has brought me back to the dark side (gastos na naman)

Ill be writing the check anyday now. Just a little more info.
    Again salamat.

There is child lock and you can't unlock the door while it is moving. I have a toddler too. Unfortunately, no idea pa ako sa safety we just let the kid seat at the back. I tried looking for child seats kaya lang plastic kasi yung backrest (with some pointed edges) and most likely, it will scratch the leather seats. My problem is I don't think my toddler will stay in the seat for 30 mins... mga 5-10 mins lang... maglilikot na yun.

3rd row seats are comfortable enough... especially for pinoy sizes. We drove 8+ hours to Bicol, no complaints.

Rearview mirror with bluetooth... you can buy them in Banawe. Madami choices dun.

You can control the music from HU in the USB (since I use USB). Meron display ng track and song... just name the files properly. I bought this nano-USB which is virtually invisible in the car. Haven't tried ipod. But I suppose it is the same... Yung ipod connector kasi is AUX and USB only and not exactly ipod the connection.

I used to think I'm an audiophile... I have Dynaaudio's at home. But after listening to the stock music, I'm very satisfied with it. I also compared it against DLS and can't notice the difference - at least at low volumes... pero kung malakas na, dun magkakatalo... if you're listening with the windows closed... I'd say its good enough. Also, you'd be listening to nursery rhymes most of the time anyway ... I think the 2009 model has improved audio system - kaya medyo hesitant ako for audio upgrade.

    Hello Allanctan:

    Thanks for your response

Please for the love of God and everything holy never leave your toddler in the backseat unrestrained. These tots should be in an approved seats and properly harnessed. AT ALL TIMES when in motion. Never mind paying premium for a good car seat, never mind the tantrums (masasanay din yan) never mind scratching or tearing your leather car seat. Pare kotse lang yan, napapalitan. Ang bata priceless yan. In advanced countries, hospitals will not be allowed to discharge infants/toddlers unless the car seats are inspected and certified.

And nobody can, ever, defy the laws of physics.

A friendly reminder from someone who experienced a horrible accident.

Any other inputs on my queries on the 2009 SF is much appreciated.

Bumyahe kami ng Naga using our 2.2 2WD Santa Fe for a family emergency over the last weekend (Jan 24 and 25). We left Manila 6PM Jan 24 and arrived Naga City 4:30AM. Left Naga for Manila 11:30AM Jan 25 and arrived at Manila around 10PM. Kung may nakita kayong napakaduming Santa Fe around 9PM sa SLEX going to Manila kami yon. he he he.

Anyway, this is to share the weakness of Santa Fe on provincial trips lalo na kung puno kayo and bako bako ang kalsada. Don't hate me. he he he. I love my SF pero I think I need a more robust SUV pag provincial trips lalo na sa damaged roads sa South.

I had 8 full sized adults as my passengers on the way to Naga. 6 Full Sized adults as Passengers back to Manila.

The pulling power is still there pero it was not as agile anymore. I understand this kasi puno nga. he he he.

Now, sa Quezon, humataw na ko (90kph). maluwag na and it was around 12 midnight. On bumpy roads, the soft suspension of the SF could not prevent the car from bouncing. One time, I heard sumagad ung shock ko, from then on, di na ako humataw. Now I understand why some suspension are made stiff.

Next is on the Ground Clearance. We know that among the SUVs (same category with SF) in the local market, SF has the least Ground Clearance. You may hate this especially when tackling the damaged road of Andaya Highway. Anglalim ng lubak don and puro putik. May sumayad sa ilalim ko in one portion of the muddy road at Andaya Highway. A "V" Fortuner ang nakasabay ko sa portion na yon. and walang ka effort effort ung mokong.

Naawa ako kay SF ko and promised that I would never bring it to Provincial Trips again lalo na sa South.

On the way back to Manila, 6 passengers na lang, gumaan na kami and never experienced the "Sayad" thing and the di na sya Bouncy masyado.

This April, sa Samar naman kami babyahe, I told my parents na strictly 5 passengers na lang. We have to go to Samar kasi harvest season and we have to supervise this. If only we have a pick up, we can bring some 5 sacks of rice to Manila, pero with the SF, its a big NO NO. Pang-tao lang talaga.

Maybe we'll get a DMAX or a Strada towards the end of the year for this yearly provincial trips.

Don't hate me guys. Just sharing with you SF weak points para di nyo gawin sa mga SF nyo.

Syangapala, the Yellow Fog on my High Beam was very helpful sa Heavy Rains kahit pa gabi kahit pa provincial roads.

Ilang beses na ako nakatabi sa Fortuner and mataas talaga sya compared to our SF kaya no wonder sisiw talaga ang lubak sa kanya.

Pero syempre, if I may add, love your own pa rin! SF pa rin ako!

Well at the end of the day the Santa Fe is a crossover so its not going to be as robust as the pick-up based SUV. But as you said its just a yearly thing for the rest of the other days in the year (go to work, going to the malls, eating out) mas masarap parin ang ride ng crossover kaysa truck based SUV 364 days of the year
