I did not specify any interior color dahil akala ko beige talaga kapag 2.7 V6. I guess in other countries you can specify the interior color and color combination you like. I got my unit from Hyundai Quezon Av. Ask mo na lang kung meron pa silang units with black/red leather trim.

Kung pwede lang sana eh but I work overseas. Actually, I got this ride for my wife. When I decided on the Santa Fe I went home to get one but there was no stock available. So I put in a deposit and guess what, 1 week after I left the unit arrived. Kakainis! I'll only get to drive it in October pa. I asked her about the ride and she said "better than the Sorento".

lalong tumatagal nga kapag pinapadalhan ako ni esmi ng pictures. Sabi ko nga punta muna siya dito para di ako maingit. Sa Sept na lang daw para ma break in muna car niya....

Hi guys! Actually, medyo di ko pinansin yung Santa Fe when it first came out but I got a chance to take a close look today and I'm considering it for my next car. For the price/features, I think its a much better buy than a Fortuner even if "Toyota" badge equals to better resale.

Since magkalapit lang price diff ng gas and diesel, I'm wondering which one is a better buy overall. Have some questions (sorry kung napagusapan na pala dati)
    1) In terms of power, which one feels faster? Mas mataas yata HP ng gas but CRDI has better torque.
    2) Which version has nicer looking interiors?
    3) What's your average city fuel consumption for both gas and diesel versions?
    4) What other features do you get with gas variant aside from 4x4 and auto climate aircon?

    Thanks !!

Like you, we first considered the Fortuner, after so many time spent on decision making, we finally came up with the decision that the SantaFe is the best vehicle to get.

    1. It doesn't have choking problems.
    2. It's a US and Europe Model. Meaning, it passed standards in those 1st world continents which are very high and strict compared to Asia.
    3. The ride is car-like. It doesn't feel like riding a truck.
    4. The interior is very luxurious. It doesn't look cheap.
    5. Projector headlights.
    6. Triple Aircon with heating (haven't tested heating yet though).
    7. Tiptronic. She like Automatic, I prefer Manual. Tiptronic is the middle ground. hehe
    8. All those electronic safety features for vehicle control.
    9. Automatic Hydraulic Leveling system so you're car would still retain its good stance even if it's fully loaded.

We don't care about resale. We buy cars to ride, not sell. If it doesn't resell well in the future, no problem for us.

Get the CRDi version with Black Interior or if you like cleaning a lot, get the beige interior, it's more classy i think.

1). I feel that the CRDi Turbo has more power. Besides, that's what diesel is all about. I've driven the gas version and it's ok but the gasoline fuel prices are not. hehe

2). I like the Diesel Black Interior.

3). Can't say yet because we haven't reached 5K Kms yet. But it really depends how you drive. Since it has a tiptronic gearbox, you *might* get better fuel mileage if you drive manual. It depends how heavy your foot is too. hehe

I'll try to do a super economy drive one time then post it here. Super economy, light foot+manual shifting in one week after getting the average between full tanks.

for now, 500 bucks worth of diesel lasts for 3days around manila with Manila-QC-Cainta as the main destination points.

    4). None.

IMMHO, the Climate Control isn't necessary.

CRDi has a 4x4 version but it's not here yet. Im not sure if they'll gonna bring it in. I asked my dealer if it's possible to order the 4x4. I'll know on Tuesday.

I see, thanks sa feedback! Meron bang parang fuel mileage indicator sa LCD display ng dash to know the car's average gas consumption? I notice many tsikoters also have the gas variant. I'm curious if gas mileage is very similar between diesel and gas.

Same ba safety features ng both variants?

Yes, I know auto climate control is not necessary but of course, it would be nice and add appeal to the ownership experience just like HID lights, sunroof, etc

AFAIK, wala siyang mileage indicator. But it's just a novelty you'll soon get tired of. Mas accurate pa din mag-compute by yourself.

Our W124 has a fuel economy indicator. Wala nang tumitingin. Nagsawa na. hehehe.

Sort of like that baseball inclinometer sa gitna ng Pajero. Wala na din bumabasa.

There is this misperception that the Toyota IMVs are allegedly not upto safety standards of developed countries since they are only available in third world or developing countries (aside from Asia, they are also available in South America, Africa, Middle East,-pretty much worldwide except for North America). But guess what? The IMV based Hi-lux is available in European countries like the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, etc. If the IMV Hilux weren't upto local safety standards then I dont doubt if the respective euro countries would allow it to be marketed there.

The IMVs have no place in North America bec. in America a bigger vehicle with bigger engine displacements are required for their highways, towing needs, and giantic country. They already have the Tundra and Tacoma which is easily preferable by the Americans for their size compared to the diminutive Hilux. The 4Runner and Highlander easily beats out the Fortuner in towing also, if not size as well.

    Just one question...

have you seen any crash test / safety rating for the Fortuner?

Both have the same safety features. You get more mileage from the diesel variant though I don't have actual consumption yet. I got the 2.7 V6 gas and it came with a black leather interior. You might want to wait for the dieasel 4x4. I think it will have a higher sticker price than the gas variant.

This was the last argument I have to overcome when I was deciding between a Fortuner and a Santa Fe. Once you shake it of you'll definitly go for the Santa Fe. Just remember what you are buying this for.

Ahh ok hehe! Well I actually check the mileage indicator in my cars with that feature quite often. More of a novelty for me is the steptronic (ano generic term dito?) feature of automatic cars.

Is this a huge difference in terms of size? Was hoping the Sta. Fe was a pretty large vehicle. What SUVs have a similar size?

i'm sure with hyundai or toyota you wont go wrong. but in any case, plan your purchase(based on personal goals) - long term, strategic and data driven. Long-term, it does not make sense to invest in a car with almost 1.7m price and use it 3-4 years only. Strategic - look into the future. Where will gas or diesel be in the future? where will hyundai/toyota be in the future? etc. and data driven, use numbers to evaluate your decision. fuel ecomony/mileage, maintenance cost, insurance, load capacity, specs etc... good luck! both are great cars

There is also the Japan & Australizan NCAP.

I remember the Fortuner being launched in the Asia-Pacific region in Australia... but curiously it isn't being sold in Australia. Maybe it didn't pass the Australizan NCAP?

IMO, it is. The width difference is around less than 9 inches. I did try the Fe's third row seats and it is indeed a little bit cramped.
