I'll post the pic some time of what we got, Ti-Blue color so you can compare :-)

Black is also very nice. Just wash it everyday.

    wanderer - thanks man.

Chuaa - put it on the papers (ads) give it a like 2 weeks people will inquire too. I like the titanium blue too astig din but the unit they had in that color was in the V6. i really opted to get the crdi. (subok ko na kasi hyundai in diesel)

Horsepower - My original choice was titanium blue. parang cayenne, na touareg, na audi . In color ha kasi new color. Black and silver was my second choice since they usually say when you sell your car its easier to sell these colors. Yun black nga lang wash everyday. I like red cars, my wife does not but when we saw the superior red... hala naiba lahat. new color kasi talaga so talagang feeling me new car talaga wala pang kapareho.

test drove the sta fe yesterday....ang lakas nga ng hatak...ride was also good....did not feel like it was a diesel SUV...felt more like a sedan...pati yung tiptronic...nakaka aliw gamitin...parang laruan...my only concern now is the cost..am still getting feedback from people to get the fortuner...kasi nga toyota (for the same price). oh well....no rush...will think some more....

chuaa - thats how i felt before getting the car. one advice to you, how long will you be using the car 3 years? if yes baka better toyota ka na nga for better resale value but make sure na 3.0 ang kunin mo because of the problems of the 2.5. Plus you got to add 60k for leather so about 100k na yung difference niya sa santa fe. but for cars more than 3 years old i think minimal nalang yung difference in resale price niyan specially sa dami ng fortuner around. (but hehe better for me) well try test driving the cars again compare both specially try sitting on the second row. just make sure na comfortable ka sa auto mo. remember thats for the next 3 years. I heard kasi from some people, 1st thing they did with forts was to change to OME shocks (so additional 30k ka s cost niyan) just to get a good ride. diba dapat out of the casa happy ka na..

youre a good salesman dinan... hehehe kidding ... totoo lahat sanabi ni dinan... mas malaki nga resale value ng fortuner kasi malaki naman nagastos mo over all same as parehas pa rin. reliability? no one knows... hindi pa rin tested ang fortuner eh... pero hyundai crdi engines are reliable enough to use dirty diesel unlike the 2.5 fortuners.

    dinan...

agree...xactly my point...told my friend nga..are you buying a car to ride it or are you buying a car to sell it?

as far as ride is concerned...sta fe definitely tops fortuner...2nd row seats on sta fe very comfortable...pero yung 3rd row...medyo lamang ang fortuner...d gud thing abt the sta fe though is the 3rd row actually disappears when folded down (ie: flat bed na sya) di tulad ng fortuner na folded sideways lang...so makitid ang trunk...cant even fit a golf bag....

gave it some more thought....despite the ride being better on the sta fe...i realized that it is still over priced....not because its a korean car...but because of its features...its a 4x2 2.2 ltd crdi...compare this with the sorento which is a 4x4 2.5 ltr crdi even more...comparing this to a 4x2 2.5 crdi fortuner.....then top this off by the fact that it is still a korean car (which should add to a price discount)....i think they should bring the cost down to at least the same level as the sorento...then it would be more "reasonably" priced...

chuaa- sorrento is nice specially the new 170 hp. good buy yan. was also considering this but yung nga lang 5 seater lang talaga. Again that car is US and Europe road worthy too. Korean cars i still believe has this negative image to us kasi nga korean aka copy of japanese technology. But at least these cars are made in korea from the main plant. Or like the santa fe and sorrento US models they were made in the US. As for the fortuner... Toyota badge ... Japanese car... but made in thailand.. Rav4 ka nalang for the price diba. again yun nga lang 5 seater ulit. check out the ratings in jdpower ranked number 3 na hyundai before toyota. honda ata 6 or 7. came out on broad sheets today.

The Santa Fe is fairly priced considering it uses an all-new, dedicated platform. Toyota shares the relatively simple IMV platform with other vehicles allowing it to save on development costs.

And the Fortuner's ride is not that good. Gagastos ka pa for improved suspension and voiding the underchassis warranty at the same time. Buong test drive team ng Tsikot negative ang rating sa ride ng Fortuner. I thought it would just ride like other truck based SUV's (e.g. Pajero, Trooper, etc.) pero hindi. Even our LC II with a front solid axle rides better. I'm not saying that the Fortuner is a bad vehicle. But in terms of on-road ride quality, it is a big let down.

The Sorento also represents a good value for money. Bang for the buck ika nga. But the Santa Fe is more road oriented. Perfect for those who rarely stray off the beaten path.

makasingit na nga din mga sir..dagdag inputs lang, mag share na rin me kahit konti lang hehe, kase kami dito sa probinsiya with my friends pinagtatalunan namin yang sasakyan na yan (santa fe, fortuner at sorento etc. ) medyo hilig kase namin..dami rough roads dito... si mechanix me fortuner 3.0V, 1 friend with hilux 4x4, yung isa sorento yung facelifted na and 1 alterra plus GEN 2 pajero ( tama kaya) yung FM to eh pero 4x2 lang me ralliart sa tabi.. yung santa fe wala pa kami idea pero base sa mga kwento kwento in terms of ride quality it tops all kase car base..per dahil rough roads dito sa amin hindi na kinonsider ung santa fe and wala meron samin,,me nagbabalak kaso kinakabahan kase baka bumigay pang ilalim dahil sa sungka sungka na daan.. tamang tama si sir otep kung hindi gagamitin yung car sa beaten path santa fe will be a perfect choice... we compared the 5 hilux( paningit lang), fortuner 3.0 V, sorento 4x4, alterra, pajero GEn 2 )
in terms of ride: sunud sunud

in terms of Acceleration sunud sunud ulit
    1. Sorento again ---> magaan kase body cguro tsaka part time 4wd unlike fortuner, bilis pumikap yung acceleration...katuwa 4x4 nito parang sa alterra knob type...
    2. Hilux ---> d4d 3.0 lakas pero bigat body kase malaki tapos me lagged yung acceleration..
    3. Fortuner ---> full time kase cguro ewan ko din.. yung ang theory namin.. malakas din
    4. Alterra --> ok din...
    5. Gen 2 pajero
    in terms of sound proof:
    1. sorento again ----> maingay makina sa labas pero tahimik sa loob, yung pinto pag sinara di kasing ganda ng sa fortuner, hilux at alterra pero nagtataka kami kase pinakatahimik sa lahat... pag piga mu ng gas mas tahimik makina compare sa 3
    2. Fortuner -- tahimik na din compare sa mga gen2 pajero.. sarap isara ng pinto
    3. Hilux --- dinig mo makina like fortuner pag piniga mu..sarap isara pinto.

    4. Alterra...ayus lang... me DVD lang..
    5. Gen 2 pajero FM - kaingayan hehe.. pati langitngit upuan mdidinig mu...

in terms of porma stock 1. fortuner, pajero gen 2, sorento, alterra,
tama na cguro to..nasarapan lang me magkwento.. gandang gabi...

Day to day experiences of car or suv owners like edsgail1230 are very valuable. I've been viewing this forum for quite awhile now 'coz I am on the hunt for an SUV. I've narrowed my choice between Fortuner and Santa Fe. To tell you the truth, this thread and that of the Fortuner's, helped me decide to go for the Santa Fe. The Fortuner has pros and cons. My friend bought one even knowing about its bouncy ride because it is a Toyota. Now he is complaining about it. Well, that is what you get for getting a Toyota. Not really all roses. We both got kids and needed the 7 seats and we both don't go off road.

You read a lot of crap about people talking about Hyundai durability and resale value. That is all bullocks. Remember the Tamaraw FX? It sold like hotcakes then everybody started complaining about the diesel variant crap engine. This is deja vu with the diesel Fortuner. Let's face it, Hyundai has come a long way. It is the Filipino mentality that doesn't want to be bent.
