Well based sa observation namin sir, parang nanggagaling sounds dun sa me vgt or turbo area yata yun.. Kase nandun yung scv na pinalitan.. Its like hissing sound na high pitch. Then nadagdagan pa ng ingay ng clutch fan. Pero Unlike sa gen3 starex mas tahimik engine compare to our gs.
Keep us updated, bro. I hope things will get better on your ride.....

Well, for the Gen3 it's academic, but then baka it's been corrected with the GS.
Took the GS - we call it Mack after Lightning McQueen's Trailer, since the GS reminds us of something big and bulky. Hehehe! - to Alabang on Saturday. It was drizzling then, so it got its first dirty drive. Hehe!
It was bonestock then, coz I couldn't squeeze in a visit to the shop, so no tint (which I'm definitely not used to) and a small lame *$$ horn. Kinda needs some getting used to, especially in traffic, but then it's much bigger than the one it replaced, so learning curve din talaga.
Power is great. There's a slight delay from go, kinda similar to the Gen 3 CRDi's, but I feel more wallop with the GS. Was pushing about 160 kph on the Skyway in both directions. Would've been higher if I had used the Sucat exit. Hehehe!
Yesterday was kamot day. Had 2 sets of fanfaren horns installed (at both ends of the grille, kasya naman though no pics) to get rid of the road runner meep meep-er. And had super black wrap around tint on all windows, but just medium magic for the front. Mack's looking badder now.
Unfortunately, he ran into a low lying horizontal pipe in the building's basement, so he's now in the shop, getting that blemish taken out.![]()
Yup,- that's the first thing I did with my unit,- change the feeble horn... Sa akin 1 set lang na (Bosch) Fanfaren.... Sa iyo pala 2 sets... Badder...
Also, changed the tail lights para all 4 are double contacts.... ala grey market...
Yes,- the Sucat to Bicutan stretch of the Skyway is a real homey place to test your speed...
I was in Evangelista Saturday afternoon and I was hoping to see a GS in one of their tyre shops......
Whew! The GS's height (without the antenna) is the same as the Gen3 with the roofrail... Mababa ang building na napasukan mo....
12.5K:soccer:
Well, I'd say it sounds pretty much the same, but with a little more power. Not really double the fun. Hehehe!
Tint did not come a freebie. They negotiated yata for a cash discount instead. Not sure what the terms were. Hehehe!
Was asking my suking electrician to have a look at what lights could be made as double contacts. He replies, "Boss, patagalin muna natin ng konti. Bago pa eh." Hahaha! So next kamot ko na lang yung double contact front and rear lights. Sana pwede yung headlight upgrade with it. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Hehehe! Was really planning for Saturday to be kamot day. After a kiddie party at lunch, tint, horn and tires sana. But then I was recalled to barracks. Tsk tsk! Yesterday was another thing, coz home service yung tint and horn, kaya wasn't away from the family.
Actually, you're right on the height of the Gen 3 and GS. Thing is, the width is another problem. What I used to be able to avoid because of the Gen 3's width, was now the GS's right rear door.![]()
IIRC Bro.IMm29,- a pair of sockets are already double contact. I think these are the sockets where your park lights are.
IIRC, The sockets for the brake lights are single contacts. So, you need to buy a pair of double contact sockets.... Simple lang palitan,- would not take 15minutes for an electrician.
It gives you better visibility on the road.....
IIRC,- the GS is 4inches(?) wider compared to the Gen3...

guys I have a friend na meron Starex 2001 SVX and he wants to change both headlights. saan ba ok bumili ng complete set ng headlights? Thanks
pwede na ko join dito sa GS thread, sold my Ondoy survivor GRX last january and got a GS the next day!
question #1: ano pwede gawin sa back-up light? too dim for me e (kasi super dark tint) the manual says it is just a 16 watt bulb. can i put a 65 watt there? di ko pa nabubuksan ang tail light assembly (nagagalit si misis pag lumapit ako sa GS na may hawak na tools) so di ko alam anong type ng bulb nasa loob.
question #2: bakit madumi lagi ang front wheels? sabi sa akin sa casa kasi daw yung mags di maganda ang ventillation. ganun din ba mga GS nyo? so need to replace the wheels ng bling-bling type?
question #3: what replacement bulb for the low beam do you recommend?
tnx sa lahat ng magrereply.
Welcome Bro.yebo.... I think I can only answer a couple of your questions above, because of my experience,- Here goes....
#2 - Brake Dust iyan. All GS have that inconvenience.. Pag medyo mahirap tanggalin,- kaunting kerosene..
#3 - I replaced my headlight (low beam) with Philips Xtreme Vision. Other GS owners replaced theirs with Osram Nightbreaker. Mas preferred ko lang ang Philips dahil near OEM siya, medyo madilaw kaya okay kapag umuulan sa gabi....(OT: I replaced my high beam with super yellow, kaya walang problema sa visibility kapag maulan sa gabi)
Not sure if the 65W bulb is okay for the 16W OEM bulb. Maybe an electrician can help you assess if the socket and wiring can support it.
Bakasyon ka ngayon dito sa Pinas?

#1 - I don't you can put in a 65w bulb in the stock casing. That should effectively melt it, even if minsan mo lang gamitin. You might also wanna try high powered LEDs instead, as they run cool but are much brighter
#2 - Brake dust indeed. Our GS is only weeks old, but I've seen that already. IMO, better the brake pads than the brake disc, so ok lang for me yung dumi for as long as the discs aren't damaged. Something's gotta give, and with heavy rides like these, brake pads give off lots of dust talaga.
#3 - Ayaw mong magbolt-on HID projectors bro? ;) Hehehe!

oo nga e, looks like the front brakes get a lot of wear due to the heavy GS. hirap pa naman linisin ang mags ng GS, even the baby bottle brush I use on my Sta Fe will not fit between the front brake and wheel e.
HID, naku allergic ako dyan.
