October 6th, 2007 09:18 PM #452The way I see it the grand starex dealers have their own marketing strategies similar with that of other japanese car brands. Unlike before the 1998 models, millenium up to the CRDI models, the differences are very minimal. I think there were only 2 or 3 models to choose from. If it is 9 seater or 11 seater we already know the seating configurations right away. Also, all models have standard features. Unlike the grand starex that has so many models to choose from. They even took off the basic features that we used to enjoy with the older models.
If we look at this entry level without power windows, keyless entry, backing sensor, third brake light and other features. Ehh talagang madidismaya tayo.
Take a look for example the seating arrangement. The grand starex has so many configurations. Buyers should take into considerations the different purposes of buying the grand starex. If it is intended only for cargo, transporting regular commuter, for business purposes etc. etc. etc. What if i bought a 2+2+3+3 configuration and it so happen that I needed a large space for cargo? yung older models fold mo lang yung 3 row malaki na space for cargo. And if you need more space you can fold the 2nd row too. A size of this van should be very very versatile in terms of usages. para maximized di ba?opinion lang po.
If I buy a grand starex perhaps I need an open range to take out a seat just to convert it from passenger carrier into cargo. woooo

October 7th, 2007 03:26 PM #455Hi! Di ba problema kung walang warranty? If di problema baka it would be very costly? Im from Davao City and is very interested to buy a Hyundai Grand Starex HVX, problem is, my friend who owns a local Isuzu Trooper CRDI engine advised me to buy from HARI para raw i would not be worried when the CRDI engine would fail because of compatibility issues with our local diesel oils. With this concern aside, I would love to buy a Hyundai Grand Starex from either Standout, Car options, or Pit stop. Sabi kasi ng friend ko, it would cost at least 50th to 100th just to fix CRDI problems. I heard also from another friend of mine who works in toyota davao that they have encountered a lot of problem or concern with the CRDI engines equipped inside the Fortuner, Hilux, and the Innova. Hope all you Tsikoteers would enlighten me on this issue so i could finally decide on whether to buy from HARI although comes with a 5 year/100th warranty, i assume that the purchase price would be more expensive as well as bare or from importers such as Standout/Car Options/Pit Stop which i assume has a cheaper purchase price as well as loaded with more features and amenties though it would come with no warranty as there is no branch of Standout/Car Options/Pit Stop outside of Metro Manila.

You can say these if probably you're paying less than the current(previous model).... But you're not bro. You are actually paying more,- like P200K more (correct me if I am wrong here....) than the same variant of the current (previous model)....
Whew! Again,- thanks so much to lui for being a true-blooded tsikoteer!
I think this Marketing Strategy s&cks,- Big Time! Many loyal Hyundai customers will look elsewhere.... No doubt! As for me,- again,- first and foremost,- the price was already out of our league. But more importantly now, the value for money is gone! So, these two compelling reasons logically would push someone in our class to consider other options...

October 7th, 2007 08:47 PM #457it's not to late for us to flood HARI with our e-mails and letters so that they could address our concerns re: features and prices. and we can also seek the help of motoring journalists like James Deakin, Vernon Sarne and the Ang Brothers. they can help us persuade HARI to address our concerns and change the Grand Starex for the better.
