Ako rin member na. Since the dealers could not tell when the Gold variant was coming, I went for the Carnival EX LWB.

Pero pansin ko biglang dami pa rin ang Gen 4 Starex sa kalsada ngayon.

Mukhang madami pa din ang kumuha ng unit.

Dad ko lang nung una Starex pa din ang gusto. A lot of folks (specially older ones) are set in their ways, expecting that brand values are consistent across models. It's somehow reassuring, not to mention easier not to have to do research every time a new model comes along. Even I am sometimes guilty of this.

Pero compared to before? Remember, the Starex used to practically dominate the Van AND MPV market (before the Innova, anyway).

As I was discussing in the other thread (Starex Gen3) last week, Hyundai Alabang is offering trade-in of the Gen3 Starex for the Gen4 model.

IMO, this is one of their marketing strategies so that there will be more Gen4s on the road, as this will definitely advertise the level of acceptance of this model. This in turn will entice others to buy.

When offered, I flatly said "Thanks, but no thanks.... I love what I have now"

I am sure that others who have the dough to burn will say "Yes...."...(just like a couple of our neighbors)....

Well, at the moment, we share the same sentiment, CVT. Our Gen 3 is running fine, and it's barely hitting 10K on the clock, so it's still got a way to go before it gets sold.

Anyhow, Hyundai's strategy is ok. It should entice would-be other brand/van buyers to keep to Hyundai, granted Hyundai's giving them a good deal for their ride.

Well, even if you have the dough, kung pinaghirapan mo ng husto, di mo pa din basta basta pakakawalan di ba?

That's exactly what I felt about a year and a half ago when I very leisurely started looking out for a replacement! Pero hindi kita tinatakot ha. hehehe.

I am sorry bro., but I did not bother to ask them. I do not want the discussion to progress at baka mabola ako....hehehehe....

Our Gen3 is averaging approximately 10T Km a year, so IMO, it is under-utilized... I am keeping it for now....

it's also possible that there is a lot of interest in the Gen 3 Starex, which is why the dealers want to get their hands on them, kahit na pre-owned.

That is also my line of thinking bro....

Kung baga,- the program serves Hyundai well at both ends....

Karamihan sa mga nakikita ko puro TCI variant which is their relatively cheaper model.

we went to one hyundai dealer asking about the grand starex and they offered the TCI since 300 thousand daw ang difference with the CRDI variant and the only difference is the engine nga lang daw, baka inuubos lang nila stock ng TCI before introducing the GOLD variant.

we are also waiting for the final specs of the gold variant so we can consider of geting from hyundai or from grey market.

Ok ah, baligtad ang strategy nila ngayon. They must be disposing of the TCIs to make way for the CRDIs.

... then it's too late. No more engine choice. You just get the more powerful (and much more expensive) CRDi engine.

If things will not go well with the grand starex baka maging member na rin ng EFG4HSOC and settle for the santa fe, importante sana ung seating capacity samin

Palagay ko SF will be their new flagship ... ayaw mo ng Carnival o Stavic (with blindfold)?
