What I appreciate about the GS now, which didn't change on the TCI models, but which I probably did not like before, is the space to have both cargo and 8 persons. It's not everyday that we need space for big bulky stuff, so ok lang yung space compromise. Kung hard core carrying, though, the Gen 3's layout is still better.
Agree with you on both counts bro.

Another heartache(for me) for the GS is the flooring material.....

Carpeted na kasi, Bro? Oh well, just like our other rides, all beige inside.

So what HU did you get? A better 2DIN DVD HU?

I just got a regular Pioneer Stereo/CD/Aux/USB Player with rating of 55W per channel (4 channels). My eldest son would usually plug his Ipod/PSP on the AUX input and that's our music selection for the trip.

This is actually the unit I had with my previous Gen3 Starex.... Sound quality improved a lot (based on my taste/preference)... Good enough for me...

The modifications I already did with our GS:

    1. Changed the horn with Bosch Fanfarens - OEM is just too lame
    2. Changed the headlight (low beam) to Philips Xtreme Power - same power rating
    3. Changed the headlight (high beam) to Euroline - Super Yellow - same power rating
    4. Changed the HU as described above
    5. Modified the tail lights -(made all four lights double contacts for both park light and stop light)

Nyek! You'd think they could at least give a decent set of matting for something that expensive.

Ah for sure that Pioneer HU is better than a generic HU with DVD. And if you travel with your family with the TV on, you'd need at least another 2 screens for the back plus the front HU with DVD. Mas mahal na. Hehehe!

Parang SVX noon

You can refer to this bro:
    http://worldwide.hyundai.com/showroo...r-details.html

Just choose the 12-seater pic. On this pic, take out the 3rd row and replace it with the 4th row bench seat. Nga lang, this last row is bolted to the floor.

Para nga yung SVX and yung GRX dati. Hehehe!

IIRC, the 3M Nomad copy is pretty heavy naman.

    1. Definitely the OEM is lame.
    2. Was considering HID for this. From some pix, it didn't look too glaring naman. Not sure if the pix are accurate.
    3. Halogen kelangan for hi beam. Super yellow is good for longer distance light throwing.
    5. This looks like a good mod ;)

    .
That is correct bro.

I did not install a DVD-HU because I do not want my passengers to be laughing at something(show on TV/DVD), which I do not totally understand....

    CVT,

Nice to see medyo busog pala yung GS AT TCi. I guess that would make up for the 200k difference with the M/T TCi.

It would be a very hard/inconvenient to add those features one by one.

    Imn29,

Yeah youre right, looking the configuration of the seats of the GS, it seems lacking to the Gen 3. My SVX had very flexible seats. Very great in hauling stuff. I remember when I moved years ago, Altough I hired a moving truck, I moved my high value and elctronic stuff myself. I just couldnt bear the tought of other guys moving my home theather, LCD's and the like in which I was very OC. using the SVX, I made just two trips!

Modding the GS TCi would be fun. I just love doing audio/Video upgrades on large vehicles. Hey I'm drooling already!

I know of 3 guys who bought their TCi M/T and slowly upgraded their rides to something equivalent to the A/T variant. They're T3D, forevernoob and Graystar from the THP forums.

Some of the basic differences at the top of my head between the M/T and A/T TCis are as follows:
    1. foglamps
    2. door courtesy lights
    3. central lock

They have since upgraded their rides to include 2 or 3 of the above, plus some of the modifications I listed above, including rear spoiler and third brake light, plus rear underview mirror, which I also have.

Yup, much cargo space with the Gen3 or earlier model (I miss our Gen3 ride), especially with the folding rear seats.... The GS can't beat the contiguous cargo space of the Gen3 or earlier model.
(OT: Pero sa relative cargo space vs. vehicle space,- walang tatalo sa dati naming Jazz.... )

Yeah, the GS seat config is not as flexible, IMO, as that of the Gen 1-3 SWB. Especially with the TCI units wherein the last row is bolted to the floor.

The upside of the new GS seat config though are:
TCI - by hook or by crook, you will be able to haul 8 persons AND some cargo.
CRDI - you can slide the rows fully forward for max space, or partially/incrementally forward so you will be able to haul 3-8 persons AND some cargo.

    The downside:
TCI - again, the bolted and non-folding last row. You'll have to remove this row by unbolting it for max space.
CRDI - instead of folding flat to the sides, the last row might be taking up more space by the cushion folding up and the row sliding forward.

A/V upgrades are interesting with all that space though ;)

    I missed this earlier.

Why? Is the difference between TCi A/T and MT variants at P200K now? Mahal na pala. When I bought our GS a little over a year ago, it was P170K. Also, the difference between engine variants(TCi>CRDi with the same tranny) was P280K....

    CVT,

Bilis ngang mag price increase ngayon, kahit sang manufacturer.... Now thinking of making it cash or thru a loan.

    Speaking of prices...

The TCi AT at 1.43M is around 300k less than the CRDi VGT..... At 1.7M for the GS Crdi AT.. If current inflations continue, with the arrvial of the Gen 5 Starex, maybe we could see the GS na pumalo na rin sa close to 2M in the future.
